Casso (also known as Cassio) was an Abyss Master from the Avalon Abyss, who had pursued Prince Demetrius to our own seeking revenge and the theft of the Radiant's Abyssal Engine. He is listed here because on the Day of the Dead, 1332 AY, he got seriously OWNZED by Prince Demetrius, Lady Haruna, and Princess Utena, and died.
Colanek is known to be one of the researchers of the creatures of the Abyss, along with Loosh and Magree. Not much else is known about him. However, he is known to be at odds with Abyssal Sakura, due to soured deals in the past, which is why he is listed here.
Cydno was the youngest son of Lord Loewen of Helgram from his prior marriage, and a known jerk. Exiled from the House and branded for Heresey, he dropped out of sight after the fall of Helgram's original Temple of the Serpent and Loewen's burning in the Sacred Flame. Information gathered from his followers indicates he develed into the lore of the Abyss soon afterwards, in order to gain revenge against Helgram and to elavate himself to the position of an Abyssal 'God'. At the time of the Logruswrack, he made his move, seizing House Helgram's main facilities and capturing various members of the house for use in the Abyssal Transfiguration Rite, along with the spikard Ouroubos. This attempt was defeated by a joint Amber/Helgram/Rebma strike force, which prevented the rite from taking place and killing Cydno in the process. (See File # CH-577-99-103, "Metal Gear Helgramways -- Repelling The Abyss Incursion At House Helgram")
According to reports, Cydno's soul has been scattered across the Abyss. For all immediate intents and purposes, he's dead.
Souls stolen from House Helgram and traded by Cydno to other Abyss Masters have been recovered, and they have been returned to the Serpent's care.
Report summary pending
"Dread Pirate Demetrius", as he was known, was a refugee from another Pattern/Logrus defined universe, one where the Pattern had fallen but the Logrus still stood. During that universe's Chaos succession crisis (and subsequent Logrus destruction), his ship was taken over by the Outsiders, and its internal shadow turned into Carcosa. Fleeing that universe, he headed first for the Avalonian-connected Abyss, then to our own. While in our own, he preyed upon various Abyss Master operations, setting up a bad reputation for our own Prince Demetrius. This eventually led to a confrontation between his forces and those of Abyss Master Namura, kidnapping Prince Vash from several of Namura's monks. Evil Demetrius was confronted in the Deep Abyss by a strike force consisting of Prince Demetrius and the crew of the Radiant, Princess Shiori, Dowager Queen Anthy, (not yet) Special Agent Katherine d'Medici, Lady Haruna, and Lady Orihime Soletta of Helgram, who annahilated his vessel and its interior shadow. Evil Demetrius himself was slain by Special Agent Katherine. (See File # AB-117-82-550, "The Hunt For Evil Demetrius -- Destruction Of The Abyssal Cruiser Moloch")
Abyss Master Feld is an example of one of the 'classical' types of Abyss Masters -- a person who got so much into dark gothic philosophy that he decided to go to the ultimate source of dark entropy for power, and learned too late that learning Abyss Mastery makes it nigh impossible to get a date when you're stuck in the Deep Abyss. Despite this, he is known as an Abyss Explorer of some note, and learned in Abyssal Philosophy. According to reports, he was not actively involved in the Abyssal Feud, though he did cheer the monks on from the sidelines.
It is believed that Feld is still a virgin.
Feld was one of the Masters who received Helgram souls from Cydno; a successful negotiation with Princess Akari of Amber, the Song of the Phoenix, has caused the return of those souls to House Helgram. (See File # AB-117-83-017, "Helgram Soul Reclamation")
Loosh is known to be one of the researchers of the creatures of the Abyss, along with Colanek and Magree. His base of operations is the Brazen Pillar, which is close to the Shallows of the Abyss. Master Loosh has a reputation for being a cranky old man, focussed on catalouging the Abyssal fauna. His attitudes towards Amber has been neutral as he feels that they're boring, but it is known that he is friendly with Abyss Master Namura, which is why he is listed here.
Magree is known to be one of the researchers of the creatures of the Abyss, along with Loosh and Colanek. Not much else is known about him. However, he is known to be at odds with Abyssal Sakura, due to soured deals in the past, which is why he is listed here.
Namura was originally a chaosian scholar, a man interested in the fall of empires and how such events come about in Shadow. Having learned all he could on the surface, he then went to the Abyss to learn more about the ways of Entropy and how they caused kingdoms to fall. After long study, he became an Abyss Master and carved a place for himself among the Monks.
Namura is one of the scholars of the Abyss, and a teacher of great renown among the Abyss Monks. He is known to have many connections throughout the Abyss Monk community, due to how many Monks and Masters he has taught over the centuries. He is known as a teacher of great skill, a man who is concerned about the welfare of his students and is fiercely protective of them. It was the death of his students at the hands of Lian during her suicide attempt in the Abyss which caused him to declare war on Amber. (See File # AB-101-81-666, "Lian's Folly")
He is also known to be a freak. Unfortunately, we did not know what sort of freak he was until just recently. He is, apparently, a pedophile.
It is believed that Namura was the one who trained Mamiya, Annadil's assistant. It is not known what sort of relationship they had.
It is also believed that Namura has taken on another star pupil; current intelligence and rumor indicates that it appears to be an analouge of Lian of Amber and Avalon. Why he has decided this is unknown. Perhaps he has a strange sense of irony.
It is known that Namura wants out of the Abyss in order to enact his revenge against Amber.
Porthos is one of the noted explorers of the Abyss, and is very knowledgeable in the ways it can be used to travel between the Abyss-connected universes. His attitudes towards Amber are unknown -- save for Prince Demetrius, whom it is known that he hates (likely due to the fact that Demetrius is an Abyss Pirate, and not a Monk that he once was). He is also known to be at odds with Abyssal Sakura, due to soured deals in the past, which is why he is listed here.
The history of Abyssal Sakura is similar to that of the Sakura of Catala of our own universe, up until the point where she dissapeared into Shadow seeking vengeance against King Gendo and Amber. Apparently she decided to delve into the lore of the Abyss, and eventually became an Abyss Master. Much like our own universe's version, she then returned to Amber in disguise to woo Gendo to produce more children by him with which to enact her revenge. However, instead of attempting to sacrifice baby Princess Nanami above the Pattern (which failed in our universe), she took the baby to the Abyss and sacrificed her in order to release the Sanjiyan, Hel. Together, they stole the Jewel of Judgement in order to destroy Amber. However, Hel then backstabbed Sakura, replaced her third eye with the Jewel of Judgement, and began a progressive campaign to enslave the universe she now inhabited. Sakura, now a Wu, was sent into the Abyss to manage Hel's affairs there. (See File # AB-103-22-666, "The Hel Crisis of 1332 AY")
Sakura was freed of Hel's domination upon her death on the Day of the Dead, 1332 AY, though we did not have hard evidence of her survival until several incidents took place in New Chaos that indicated she was still alive, and still obsessed with the destruction of the remains of the Royal Family. (See File # NC-010-11-553, "Sakura's Anger -- New Chaos Escape Attempt") . She has since been identified as courting various Abyss Masters in our own universe for alliances against Amber. While most Abyss Monks tend to look favorably upon her due to her hatred for Abyss Pirates (a common sentiment among the Abyss Monks), it is not thought likely that they would shed a tear if she were to fall in the Arcadian Abyss, either. (What Abyss Masters survive in Arcadia/New Chaos' Abyss is another story). Also, several attempts at alliance with certain Abyss Masters in our Abyss have soured, which may provide a vector for further leverage against her.
It is believed that Sakura may have entered into an Alliance of Convenience with High Master Namura; it is unknown how solid this alliance is.
Sakura is known to be one of the Abyss Masters who wants out. Badly.
According to reports, Shadow of the Moon has an interest in the early days of Amber; an interesting research focus, considering her current position as an Abyss Master in the Abyss Proper. She also has an interest in Eclipses, hence her name (and once again a confusing research interest given her current location). Not much else is known about her, save for her being scholarly. She is believed to be neutral to Amber.
Shadow of the Moon was one of the Masters who received Helgram souls from Cydno; a successful negotiation with Princess Akari of Amber, the Song of the Phoenix, has caused the return of those souls to House Helgram. (See File # AB-117-83-017, "Helgram Soul Reclamation")
According to reports, Yani has an interest in the Sidar -- this is somewhat more understandable than Shadow of the Moon's research focus, as the culture and exploration of the Abyss by the Abyss Monks began during the middle days of the Second Sidar Empire after the Barrier War. Every so often, ancient Sidar artifacts turn up in the Abyss, dumped there from Shadow or somehow surviving the crushing Entropy over the centuries since the GodsWar.
Yani was one of the Masters who received Helgram souls from Cydno; a successful negotiation with Princess Akari of Amber, the Song of the Phoenix, has caused the return of those souls to House Helgram. (See File # AB-117-83-017, "Helgram Soul Reclamation")
