This morning, we headed off on a boat to Alcatraz - the Rock!
Wandering around the place, we saw lots of cells and everything. Lots of things that I saw, I'd seen in the movie "The Rock" ... it was pretty cool being there. Some people said it was creepy, but I didn't feel that.
We went on the tour around the cell blocks, with a head set, which was quite cool. You got to hear lots of stuff that you'd never find out about, just walking around by yourself.
Afterwards, we headed back on the boat for some lunch, and then to walk around San Francisco.
First we went to Fisherman's Warf, and went up into a cafe there, overlooking some of the water with the fishing boats. The American's really don't have any clue how to do good fish and chips!! I went all the way to Fisherman's Warf, and the fish and chips sucked - down the road does 100 times better! ^^;;;
America is no place for fish and chips.
Then we headed up to take a look at Lombard Street - that street is one of the really steep ones, and part of it is completely composed of switchbacks, because it's too steep for cars to have a straight road!
Unfortunately on the way there, I tripped over some concrete that was sticking up, and busted up my knee. -_-
I managed to limp up Lombard Street (what was it? 40 degrees angle??), taking many stops along the way, and got there and got my photos taken!
But I didn't want to go back to my hotel yet... so we all trudged off (me limping and making jokes at myself) down to Ghiradelli Square, where all the chocolates are!
After wandering around there, at the shops there, and buying some chocolate, we caught a taxi back to our hotel.
I managed to get ice for my leg, and we stayed quietly in our room until it was tea time.
Dinner was at the Hard Rock cafe ... we had to walk (I had to limp) there. :p
The meal wasn't bad, but my knee didn't allow me to enjoy the evening there. My knee was swelling up, so after dinner, I went with Jill in a taxi, and got dropped off back at the hotel, to sit with ice on my knee and watch tv (yay for the X-Files being on tv!), while others went out to bars, or to the movies.
