10th July 1999
Most of the morning was spent sleeping. After which we got up, had a very late breakfast, then went to the pool to try to wake up.
By the afternoon, a small group of us decided to go walk around for a bit. Vegas is so much bigger than it looks in the movies! One block is huge - the Melbourne CBD could quite easily fit into Vegas!
We checked out the MGM Grand, where we had lunch. Then headed off in a taxi to Treasure Island, where we lost some money on the 5c and 25c machines, and then went to the kids area, like the Royal Melbourne Show with the games, and started winning stuffed toys. ^_^
We went and watched the Treasure Island pirate show out the front - it reminded me of the Pirates of the Caribian ride at Disneyland - and then started heading down the Strip to our hotel, which was at the other end, near MGM Grand.
We went into the Mirage, and crossed over to go down the other side, past Harrahs and all the rest of the hotels. We went inside most of them as we walked (it was much cooler inside than out!), and we stopped at one half way down to have dinner. By the time we got to MGM Grand, it was 9pm, dark and we were tired out.
I guess by the end of that day, I'd spend the $10 that I'd won, so I came out even.

|Derek, Malcom and Robyn at our hotel room at Vegas. (Aww... we didn't get to stay in a theme hotel. *sniff*)|
|The Contiki Bus - It's so new that they hadn't had time to paint the Contiki sign on it! (We recognised our bus by the rainbow!)|

Thanks to Robyn for some of the photos!
