A Campaign for the Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game
![]()
Setting
There is only one true world, one true realm, one true city. It alone is the Real; all other alternate realities are only Shadows, mere reflections of the one True World.
It is called Avalon.
It is a land that seems to echo beauty and calm and wild artistic fancy. Along the boulevards and terrances of the True City, fountains leap, sweet music is played, roses burst from the decks and gardens. The music halls and cafes ring with the sounds of fights and songs and laughter, and white-sailed barges ply the great river, bearing cargoes to and from the infinite Shadows, the myrad of other possibilities that are but distorted reflections of Avalon.
Above it all soars the great Citadel, designed and built by Prince Ludwig, as was much of the city itself. It is a marvel of a form of archetecture similar to rococo, verging on romanesque, but inevitably superior to both - it is the reality they were drawn from. In it dwells the royal family, the sons and daughters of the King Without A Name, the first and only King of Avalon, the master and protector of the great magical Pattern that gives order to reality, that casts the infinite Shadows.
They face great crisis.
The King Without A Name has vanished. In truth, he has not been seen for as long as anyone can remember, save for cryptic letters delivered by unknown means. And some of the Princes have decided that the time has come for a new King in Avalon. They just disagree over which of them it shall be.
Outside, beyond the infinite Shadows of reality, the Courts of Chaos wait, and bide their time.
A King shall reign once again in Avalon, one way or another.

The Campaign At Present
At present, the fate of Avalon hangs upon the slenderest of threads. Darako, arch-traitor and servant of the void, has assassinated Tess and claimed the Spikard for her own, outmaneuvering the six Chosen Ones and displaying inexplicable powers. Finndo, the Ashen Prince, closes in upon the True Realm like a rabid wolf, his long-sought vengeance at hand. The host of Chaos marches as well, resolved to settle the long-standing score between them and Order. And behind them all stands a figure cloaked in mystery, only a name whispered in passing - the Red Queen.
Does the answer lie in Juri's past, at the surreal academy known as Ohtori?
With Horatio's vanished father, Burne?
With Venir's glimpse at revealed Truth, and his mechanical sage, Mikage?
With the origins of Finn, tavern-keeper turned prince?
With Trucido's father - or mother?
With Gideon's dealings with Chaos?
With Brandon's layed agenda?
All, and none, of course.
