Jeremy had never been good at waiting. He'd second-guess himself, or just get so nervous that he would get up and leave. Not this time: he'd wait as long as he had to. He'd already laid everything out: blanket, wine, candles, Chinese takeout. He just needed her. And he'd be here for her. No pushing, no pressure, no stress.
Sitting there, waiting, all the week's exhaustion descended upon him, threatening to crush his spirit. He would not be undone, though, not this time. But he was so tired... maybe put his head down for a minute... just a minute...
