Shinji stared in horror and fear at the young man in the hand of EVA-01.  
A young man who was the 17th Angel.  Who Shinji was seconds away from crushing 
to death.
	Kaworu stared back, no blame in his eyes.  If anything, he looked even 
more understanding.
      "Now, please erase me.  Otherwise you will be erased."
      Shinji stared back at him, not wanting to understand, wanting Kaworu do 
say or do something that would show it had all been a lie.
	"The life that escapes the time of annihilation...and that obtains the 
future...is only one.  And you are not the one who must die.  All of you need 
the future."
      Shinji was crying out incoherently.  Why did it have to be this way?  
Why did he have to kill Kaworu?  And why didn't Kaworu hate him for it?
	"Thank you.  I am glad to have met you."  He smiled one last time.
	Shinji closed his hands, and watched as Kaworu's head popped off and 
fell into the LCL mixture.  The body followed.
	The body remained floating in the water for about a half minute after 
Shinji left in EVA-01, then very slowly began to float away into the darkness.  
The head followed.  It took two minutes before the corpse had drifted away.
	From the shadows a figure sat and watched as several technicians and 
troops arrived and began to come the area, looking for any remains they could 
grab and analyse to help them fight the Angels.
      The figure smiled.  "Doomed to disappointment."
      It then stood up, making as much noise as possible.  The technicians 
turned, and began to rush towards the source of the clamor.  The figure calmly 
watched them, then reached down to pick up a large staff concealed in the murk 
and vanished.
	The techs reached the empty corner and cursed in frustration.  From high 
above, the figure stared at them, an amused smile playing on his face.
	"Step one accomplished," he mused.
	Now for the hard part.


NEW BLOOD

A Slayers/Neon Genesis Evangelion crossover

Author's Note:  This takes place immediately after Episode 24 of NGE, and uses 
elements from the movies 'Air' and 'My Pure Heart For You'.  The Slayers 
continuity is vaguer, but definitely after Slayers Next.  Naga appears from 
the movies, and she and Amelia are sisters in this.

Note 2:  There will be humor in this fic.  I promise.  But it is mostly a 
dramatic story, more in line with later NGE than Slayers.  And there will be 
death.  And angst.  Be warned.

Note 3:  Yes, I have my relationship likes and dislikes, but I promise not to 
pair up ANYONE in Slayers here.  Evangelion, of course, I make no promises.
