Wednesday was going to be our big Subrealicore meeting to touch bases and just for us local folk to get together and relax before the con. However, JB had a surprise for us all... read Kielle's account of the Wednesday meeting (along with a special guest account).
Thursday, some folks were arriving early. As I wasn't feeling well that day, I'd decided to take part of the day off to pack, and it was lucky that I did, because as I was online (but I was really packing, I swear) I got a frantic message from Lise who'd said that Kael needed to be picked up from the airport along with the Canadians. That meant me changing my plans from taking Mice with me to the airport to leaving her at the Greek Musician's place and going it alone. No big deal, I packed and hoofed it to Culver City where I picked up Mice and we went to see "The Lion King". Of course we dressed up; here are me and Mice at the Pantages theater, looking like we're attending a high school dance.
I left her at the Greek's and drove to LAX where instead of parking and waiting at Kael's terminal (the Canadians, Chandri and Lise, had arrived earlier and were going to wait for Kael at her gate), I drove around and around. Finally, around midnight, I parked at the curb where I walked back and forth waiting to see them at the baggage terminal where (wouldn't you know it?) I got picked up on by a guy working for an airport pick up company. There's some irony in there somewhere. Finally, I saw some folks streaming towards the carousel and saw Chandri walking by. I pounded on the glass, and Lise turned and I ran inside and hugged them. We got them and their luggage into my car (Kael lost a sleeping bag) and we went off to Kielle's house.
Considering who we had in our car at the time, it's no wonder that our driving conversation consisted of slash, slash, and more slash. I've definitely got to see Lise's dyke road sign sometime, and definitely have to read the fics that were recommended. We got to Kielle's around one or two in the morning (actually, more like a quarter to four ^_^) and proceeded to wake up everyone in the house. We chatted for a while, then settled down to sleep (Zil had to be picked up at the bus station really early in the morning as she'd missed her connecting bus).
