Rose asks, "You did?"

Rose exclaims, "Doh!  "

Rose says, "Well, I didn't notice ^^;;;"

Rose says, "Okay, now that I'm done being a moron..."

Juri of Avalon says, "I'll be sure to say it twice in the future.  :)"

You head out through the exit door, and find yourself surrounded by
abject, utter, pitch darkness.

It's black.  It's real black.  It's 'light has never visited this locale'
black.

Corrine of Amber holds onto Juri's hand tight.  Not out of fear, but to
make sure they stay together.

Corrine of Amber says, "Oh poopy."

Corrine of Amber frowns (not that it can be seen), and tries accessing the
Fire DemiJewel again, to see if she could use it to make some light.

Juri of Avalon giggles faintly, then coughs.  "All right.  I think I'm
finished being shocked over not being dead now.  Sorry about the, err...
babbling."

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC:  Patternblade Pattern-traceries can glow
faintly, yes?"

Corrine of Amber hehs softly.  "It's all right, Juri.  Perfectly
understandable given the circumstances.  You got matches on you?  Or a
rope?"

Rose says, "OOC Hmm.  Good question."
Rose says, "OOC I don't think they glow enough to see very far."
"OOC:  Well, better than nothing.  Draw my sword.
Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "as long as it glows enough for the two to
see each other when close, that'll help for organizational purposes."

The dim glow of your patternblade enables you to see each other, if not
much else.  The floor appears to be rough stone; the ceiling and walls are
too far away to be seen.

Juri of Avalon says, "None of those.  My blade should give a little
light."  Juri giggles again.  "It's funny... I hadn't even realized I was
so worried about it, but now that it's done... it's like there's an
enormous weight lifted from me that I didn't even know was there."

Corrine of Amber hehs a little bit.  "Funny how that works out.  I nail
you in one of my darkest moments in an alternate past, and it saves you in
the present.  Or something."  She shakes her head, ooing a little as the
blade is drawn.  "Well... that's a start, I suppose.  Think we're still in
the Cave of Worlds?"

Juri of Avalon says, "OOC:  Oh, wait; as long as Juri still has everything
she was carrying before on her, she should have rope, matches, etc, as she
had her travelling pack with her."
Rose asks, "OOc Right.  You've got matches.  Got a torch or something else
that will shed some substantial light?"
Juri of Avalon says, "A lantern."

Corrine of Amber nods.

You light a lantern, and now you can see you're in a cave, about fifty
feet wide and thirty feet high, running off in three different directions
from here.

You hear the sound of running feet coming from one of the branches.

Corrine of Amber asks, "It's... definitely a cave.... eh?"

Juri of Avalon would draw her sword, but it's already drawn.

Corrine of Amber draws her own.  Admitteldly, it's a different one than
she's used to, but hey, any port in a chaos storm....

Juri of Avalon looks at the blade with momentary pain in her eyes, then
simply awaits the arrival of whatever is coming.

A muscular man in red and purple comes into sight, screaming at the top of
his lungs something about trains.

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC: Anyone we know?"

As soon as he hits the light of your lantern, as if a switch had been
flipped, he suddenly is utterly, completely calm and collected.  Roderick
struts towards you, smiling.  "Good day, ladies.  I think we all got
seperated."

Corrine of Amber says, "Ack!" She steps aside, though ready to trip him or
tackle him to get him to stop, since it seems to be Roderick... ".....
Hello, Roderick."

Corrine of Amber sheaths her sword, and looks apologetic to Juri.

Juri of Avalon puts her own blade away.  "Good to see you're still with
us.  Let's find the others."

Corrine of Amber asks, "was there anyone else down the path you came,
Roderick?"

Roderick says, "Hopefully, the train driving maniac didn't get them."

Corrine of Amber says, "... train driving maniac."

Juri's expressions quirks a little at that.  "Did you get a look at him?"

Roderick says, "Well, I was with Rhianna, but she teleported away, leaving
me to face a mad duplicate of myself driving a train."

Juri of Avalon says, "Oh.  That may have been my cousin, Horatio.  Or
possibly a Shadow of him."

Corrine of Amber purses her lips.  "Oh boy... if Rhianna teleported away,
though..."

Juri of Avalon looks down the way from which Roderick came.  "So, do we go
look for Rhianna there, or set off down another way?"

Roderick says, "We need Rose, since she has the Palantir."

Corrine of Amber ticks off on her fingers.  "Rose, Ishmael, Rhianna,
Katsura.  Those are who we need to find, and I do NOT advise splitting up.
Period."

Juri of Avalon asks, "Has anyone tried their Trumps?"

Roderick says, "Ahh, good idea."

Roderick pulls out his deck of Trumps, and in turn, contacts Rose,
Rhianna, Katsura, and Ishmael, pulling each of them through in turn.

Rose says, "Hey, I was in the middle of a tea party...well, I suppose it
could wait."

Corrine of Amber says, "... Oh."

Corrine of Amber applauds.

Corrine of Amber says, "Well done, Roderick."

Rose consults the Palantir, then looks down the tunnel to your left.
"This way."

Juri of Avalon asks, "Well, that was easy.  Did everyone have a good
time?"

Juri of Avalon follows Rose.

Roderick soaks up the praise.

Ishmael says, "No fun at all."

Corrine of Amber follows the happy Rose.  "Don't worry, Rose, we can have
one once we get out of here."

Rhianna says, "Being dissected isn't my idea of fun."

Corrine of Amber says, "Bleh."

Katsura says, "It was a worthy challenge of my skills."

Rose says, "I was having tea with Roderick's mother.  It was very nice."

Corrine of Amber asks, "Who's his mother?"

Juri of Avalon says, "I got nailed to a tree and then nearly killed by a
primal power.  Sounds like general merriment was had by all."

As you walk along, you start to hear soft music playing.

Roderick says, "My mother is Lady Tess."

Corrine of Amber tries to place the tune.

Those familiar with 20th century Earth music can place the tune as
'Suicide is painless'

Juri of Avalon starts.

Juri of Avalon asks, "Tess of Avalon?"

Corrine of Amber says, "... we have a joker in the soundtrack, folks..."
She glances at Juri.

Juri of Avalon says, "o/~ It brings on many changes..."

Roderick nods.  "Yes, Corwin's Avalon, which was destroyed.  She escaped
its wreck using her sorcery."

Juri of Avalon nods, and murmurs something about more bloody coherencies.

The cave slowly shrinks, eventually turning into a ten foot wide corridor
with walls painted black.

Corrine of Amber says, "Ahh. This would be his shadow then, not the
pattern he drew later?  I keep having problems keeping track, but I
remember folks mentioning he was mooning over it."

This leads into a well-lit, but black room.  You see a man clad in black
robes, seated at an easel, busily painting a picture of a city exploding
in a ball of white light.

Corrine of Amber hehs at Juri, and pats her on the shoulder, keeping
close.  She pauses, and peers at the man in black and the painting.

He notices your arrival, turns, and blinks.  "Hmm, I thought you weren't
supposed to arrive until tomorrow."

You page, "does Corrine recog the man?" to Akemi.

Akemi pages, "The voice is not familiar." to you.

Juri of Avalon says, "We're ahead of schedule.  Greetings to you, artist."


Corrine of Amber says, "A pleasure to meet you." She sketches a quick,
short bow.  "What city do you paint?"

He pulls back his hood; he's an old black man with hair turned white by
age, but still fairly handsome.  He looks intensely depressed.

You page, "Still no recog, now that she can see his face?" to Akemi.

Akemi pages, "He reminds you of Anthy." to you.

Corrine of Amber hrms quietly and thoughtfully, regarding the man.

Roderick says, "Just blowing up Tokyo again.  It always soothes my
nerves."
Roderick exclaims, "OOC DOH!!!"

The Old Man says, "Just blowing up Tokyo again.  It always soothes my
nerves."

Corrine of Amber quirks an eyebrow, and then hums a bit of "Godzilla" by
the Blue Oyster Cult.  "Something troubling you?"

Corrine of Amber . o O (Hey, Shaft isn't the only one with some musical
taste beyond the normal Amber range...)

The Old Man says, "Oh, there's a fairly good chance the entire universe
will be destroyed within the next year, and I put too much work into this
place to welcome that."

Juri of Avalon frowns.  "Which universe in particular?"

Corrine of Amber hehs a little bit.  "What a coincedence, we're working to
and try and stop that.  By roundabout means, admittely, but she
shrugs...."

The Old Man says, "But you know how it is with kids.  They grow up, they
think they have to outdo their parents.  So they decide to obliterate
creation and start over."

The Old Man says, "As if it was that easy to forge a universe out of one's
own blood and vision."

The Old Man says, "Kids these days, they have no respect for tradition."

Corrine of Amber chuckles a bit, knowing a little bit of that feeling.
Not -lots-, but...

The Old Man says, "This universe, Juri of Avalon."

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Boing."

Juri of Avalon asks, "Well, you were apparently expecting us, and you seem
to know my name, so... care to expand?"

Corrine of Amber continues to look thoughtful around the room, but mostly
on the old man, staying next to Juri.

You page, "Did Corrine ever get from Utena more details on the man who
kept her from Walking the Logrus, killing her captors instead?  Corrine
-distinctly- remembers Utena mentioning the man telling Utena to save his
"granddaughter", which she thinks was reffing Wakaba...." to Akemi.

The Old Man says, "Ahh, I should introduce myself."

The Old Man says, "My name is Anno, and I am the Keeper of the Logrus for
Corrine's Universe."

Anno says, "Or at least, I believe this is my Corrine."

Corrine of Amber blinks, and then bows to Anno, low.  "A pleasure to meet
you at last, Anno.  I thank you for Aiding my sister Utena at her time of
direst need in the past when she was last here."

You page, "And here we go, the brain goes 'click' :)" to Akemi.

Anno bows back.  "I do what I can."

Corrine of Amber says, "And if the universe destruction in question you
refer to is that currently being engineered by Annadil and his
compatriots, indeed I am from that universe and I am 'that' Corrine."  She
chuckles a bit.

Corrine of Amber OOCly lags.

Anno says, "Ishmael's uncle informed me you would be coming."

Juri of Avalon frowns some more.  "I don't suppose you could tell me what
the Assistant Logrus-Keeper of my universe, Kiryuu Nanami, is up to with
the MacFinndos?"

Anno says, "I believe she hoped to use them as pawns for her revenge
against various folk.  Unfortunately, the situation is now out of her
hands.   The Ravager Beast is now in this universe, and will likely soon
be heading for Ember to destroy it again."

Corrine of Amber winces.  "Oh hell."

Juri of Avalon curses softly.  "I shall bring a reckoning upon her empty
little head for this."

Anno says, "The Ravager Beast is a tool that tends to bite the hand which
feeds it."

Corrine of Amber glances at Rose and Ish.  "If you can get in range of
Fido, or hell, Gideon, -either- Ravager Beast Logrus Squid running about,
could you get control of them?"

Anno says, "Most of those who have sought to master it have found it to
escape their power at some disasterous moment."

Ishmael says, "We'll need to get inside Fido and go to his brain and take
it over again."

Rose says, "I can get us in fairly quickly, once we get to him, as I've
improved my logrus skills, and Fido is a logrus creature."

Corrine of Amber mumbles something about letting sleeping squids -lie-,
but... She nods at Ishmael.  "Which involves finding him.  Hopefully he's
still a long way from Ember.  We can hopefully have early warning."

Juri of Avalon asks, "If this is your universe, Corrine, we should be able
to get to your Ember quickly... shouldn't you be able to contact your
daughter now?"

Anno says, "I would strongly advise moving to some distance from the
Courts before attempting to contact a Pattern construct."

Corrine of Amber says, "Though... wait." She pauses.  "If indeed this is
my universe now..." She smiles a bit. "I've got a little better access to
my resources now.  It's about ---" She looks at Juri.  "I'll try... I've
never tested her range all the way out to Chaos now.  But it'll be worth
it.... Ah, yes, thank you, Anno."

Anno says, "Unless you greatly enjoy large explosions which blow you to
tiny bits and scatter your body across space and time."

Corrine of Amber looks sheepish.

Juri of Avalon says, "Oh.  Yes, that would be bad."

Corrine of Amber says, "I'm trying to avoid that this millenium."

Anno looks at Juri's sword.  "Hmm, Eternity's Rose.  May prove handy."

Anno blinks and looks at it again and frowns.  "Or disastrous.
Hmm...would that work...."  He scratches his head.

Juri of Avalon glances down at it.  "She has always served me well."

Corrine of Amber asks, "So!  Right.  We need a good way out of Chaos
without being spotted too much.  Should trumps to, say, Yig or thereabouts
be sufficent, Anno?"

Corrine of Amber asks, "Hm?"

Anno whips out a book labelled 'Peterson's Guide to Pattern Blades'.  It's
600 pages long.  Flip. Flip.  Flip.

Corrine of Amber whistles softly.

Anno pages down.  "You aren't carrying Destiny's Thorn or Silverthorn, are
you?"  

Juri of Avalon says, "No.  I'm afraid not."

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC:  I know Silverthorn is Ludwig's Patternblade,
currently possessed by Trucido... would Destiny's Thorn be Joan's?"

Anno gives a great sigh of relief.  "Good, can't do any harm, probably,
then."

Anno says, "OOc Yep."

Corrine of Amber thinks, and shakes her head.  "Not I.  I've got
Hummingbird, but I don't beleive it's a patternblade. ... Oh, why's that?"

Juri of Avalon looks at the book and frowns.  "Can I have a look at that?"

Anno says, "You should be able to trump to Yig once you get out of my
house.  I can take you to the front door."

Anno hands the book to Juri.  It is written in indecipherable squiggles,
although it does have a very nice picture of Juri killing Darako with her
pattern blade in it.

Corrine of Amber nods to Anno.  "Why is it that Eternity's Rose wouldn't
be able to do any harm?"

Juri of Avalon blanches and gives it back.

Corrine of Amber doesn't look in the book.

You have the feeling you've seen squiggles like these before.

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC:  Oh... where?"

Anno says, "OOC You're not sure where you've seen them before, but it was
within the last few weeks, you're sure of that."

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC Before I met Corrine, or after?"

Anno pockets the book.  

Anno says, "OOC Definitely after."

Ishmael asks, "Do you have the Little Big Book of Demi-Jewels?"

Anno says, "Yes, and you can't have it."

Corrine of Amber doesn't giggle.

Anno says, "Well, come along, let me take you to the front door before I
forget you're real or something"

Really, she doesn't!  Stop looking at me like that....

Anno starts ushering you through his expensively furnished, all-black
house.

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC On something when we met Dworkin, maybe, or at
the Keep?"

Corrine of Amber nods, following Anno through the nice noir house....

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC  Perhaps the runes that were on the walls at the
Keep?"

Juri of Avalon follows.

Anno says, "OOC Something at Dworkin's place, you think."

Juri of Avalon says, "OOC  The labelling on his toy packages?  :)"

Anno says, "OOC No, the Toy packages were in Thari."

He leads you through the house, and finally out the front door into a
great plaza under a constantly changing sky.  A huge church stands off to
your left at the edge of some sort of huge pit.  A huge palace stands at
the other end.

Juri of Avalon says, "OOC  If I can remember so specifically where it was
and what it wasn't on, I'm surprised I can't remember just what it was on.
:)"

Anno says, "OOC You only had a brief glimpse."

Anno says, "OOC And your brain is playing annoyance games with you :)"

Anno says, "Good luck saving the universe.  Oh...and don't poke Fido with
your sword anywhere you want to keep intact, Juri."

Anno says, "Especially if you want to stay intact."

Corrine of Amber smiles slightly, looking up at the sky.  "From one Chaos
to another... from one Universe to another..."  She hehs a bit, shaking
her head.  "And thank you, Anno." She considers.  "Any messages you want
me to take back to the Amber side of the universe, sir?"

Anno says, "If you see my son, Akio, tell him he's grounded for eternity.
But he won't listen.  Kids never do."

Anno sighs and steps back into his house, then closes the door.  The house
vanishes.

Corrine of Amber hehs a bit, and nods.  She blinks, and waves at the
vanished house.

As if on cue, people start coming out of various buildings into the plaza.
Some are human, most look to be humanoid creatures of various kinds.

Corrine of Amber says, "Right.  Time to beat feet.  Everybody take
hands..." She pops open her trump case, and pulls out her Trump of Yig.

Corrine of Amber says, "Like, -right- -now-...."

Roderick takes Juri's hand.

Rose takes Corrine's hand and Ishmael.  The usual human chains form.

Juri of Avalon grabs Corrine's hand with her free hand and smiles at
Roderick.

Roderick smiles back, looking confident as usual.

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC: He's Horatio, only with mack!  How can I
resist?"

Corrine of Amber concentrates on the Trump, activating it and stepping
forward....

Corrine of Amber puts all her oomph into it, too.

You find yourself standing at the base of a tree, miles high.

Four rivers rise from under it, flowing off to the horizon in four
different directions.

Juri of Avalon looks up at the tree and shivers a bit, reminded of her
recent crucifixion.

It's the same kind of tree you were hung on, except MUCH bigger.

Corrine of Amber relaxes, and smiles up at Yig.  "Yig, the worldtree.
Halfway between Amber and Chaos."  She also sees the Hanged Man, and looks
at Juri with concern.  ".... right.  No time for gawking."

Corrine of Amber looks down at her bracelet, and concentrates, trying to
contact Gabrielle.

There is a flicker, and then something cuts off the contact.

Corrine of Amber asks, "..... the hell?"

Clouds suddenly roll in from the four corners, covering the sky.

Corrine of Amber frowns, and tries activating a TrumpGate to the Beach.

Far above you, the Hanged Man, a giant hanging from the tree's upper
branches, begins to gibber.

Juri of Avalon draws her sword and crossbow, looking about for any
incoming danger.

Corrine of Amber OOCly warns, max a half-hour from here to be sane
tomorrow.
Roderick says, "OOC We'll lead up to the cliff-hanger and stop."
Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Oh joy.  Right. *wry look*"

Your efforts to trump are blocked by something, a very powerful mind.

Corrine of Amber snarls.  "Somebody's blocking my trumps.  And powerful,
too.  IT's either stay here or starting to try to shadowwalk."

A dozen or so green robed figures step out from various tunnels leading
down under the roots.  Each of them carry staves.

You page, "Corrine would know them as the Forestals?" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "Yes." to you.

They look to be in a very foul mood.

They point their staves at Juri.  "The stench of the foul thief is upon
you, woman.  Who are you?"

Corrine of Amber blinks.  "... The forestals...." She glances at the rest.
"Whatever you do, don't harm the tree!  These are Yig's defenders!"

Corrine of Amber says, "And really, don't harm -them- either, but...." She
looks between Juri and the Forestals, rapidly.

Juri of Avalon asks, "Juri of Avalon.  Do you refer to the fellow with the
ravens?"

One of the Forestals says, "He called himself Venir 2.0, and he stole the
Seed of Hope from the Child of Wood."

Juri of Avalon shakes her head.  "I have heard of him from Princess
Corrine, but never met him."

Another says, "It has been hidden so that even we cannot find it or him.
But now you have come among us, and the same scent is upon you that was
upon him."

Juri of Avalon says, "There is kinship between myself and a man called
Venir--perhaps version 1.0.  He was a member of my family.  Perhaps that
is what you are scenting."

They stare at you and mutter among themselves suspiciously.

Corrine of Amber curses a bit.  "I heard about Shizumaru having escaped
from VENIR 2.0 -with- the seed, but now I see, given events in the Cave of
Worlds, that he must have been taken it elsewhere."  She looks at the
Forestals.  "Juri of Avalon has already pledged herself in aid of myself,
Shizumaru the Child of Wood, and of Amber and Ember to resolve this
situation, and return the Seed of Hope to the Child of Wood."

Rose says, "She's really very nice."

Juri of Avalon smiles at Rose.  "Thank you."

Corrine of Amber says, "I can vouchsafe for her intentions and goals, good
Forestals.  She seeks to redress wrongs, and has aided me in the past."

The forestal says, "We know your service to your forest, Corrine, and we
will accept your word, but..."  He looks Juri up and down.  "There is
something out of place about this woman.  Just as there was with the foul
thief."

Juri of Avalon says, "I am from another universe, one which bears its own
Pattern and the variations upon it."

He looks at most of the rest of your crew.  "Indeed, you are all quite
strange."

Corrine of Amber nods.  "As indeed I was in her universe, good Forestals."

Corrine of Amber says, "Well, their universe, really."

The man looks Juri up and down again thoughtfully.  "Do you have a
daughter?"

Corrine of Amber gestures at the rest of the Squid Gumi crew.

Juri of Avalon says, "No."

Juri of Avalon says, "I have no children."

The man purses his lips and nods.  "Interesting."  He nods to the others.
"Go."

The weather begins to clear, and the Hanged Man stops gibbering,
thankfully.

The forestals head back down into their tunnels.

Akemi pages, "Okay, where do you trump to?" to you.

Corrine of Amber smiles, and waves to the Forestals.

They fail to wave back.

You page, "This time, direct to Ember, preferrably Catherine.  She needs
to find out how long she's been away, and if Fido's heading for Ember,
best to cut them off at the pass.  If that doesn't work, then to Amber
castle proper to try and find Tylor." to Akemi.

Katsura, Ishmael, and Roderick all relax in unison.

Corrine of Amber smiles a bit, and starts taking hands, attempting to
trump her Regent....

daughter.  And feels bad for Misaki, stranded in Amber when her queen
vanished... she SO needs to figure the current time. *wg*"

Juri of Avalon says, "OOC  Just make sure to tell him he's under no
circumstances to tell _anybody_ what goes on in here. :)"

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Well, -yes-."

Corrine of Amber OOCly gets out the hammer and tongs.

John says, "OOC Heh."

John says, "OOC although you're about ot head out to places where you
might run into some of my players :)"

Juri of Avalon asks, "OOC:  Cool.  Can I seduce Shaft?"

I've been doing lately.  :)"

John says, "Heh."

Juri of Avalon says, "Now he just has to figure out that whenever my
puppets usually get shuffled, Mike teleports out of the Keep... :)"

John says, "Well, next time, we get to do Ember in Flames...of course,
Ember is always in flames :)"

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "snrks."

Corrine of Amber grumbles a bit at the connection.

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Well, it all depends on what time Our Heros
have come back... TAMD is rather spread out right now. *wl*"

John says, "OOC Tomorrow is election day and Winter's Heart hits Lawrence
day, so we probably won't continue this until Wed or thursday night."

Juri of Avalon says, "I'm out tomorrow anyway."

Corrine of Amber says, "And wed is Kugar."

John nods.  "We'll shoot for Thursday."

Juri of Avalon says, "Thursday sounds good."

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Oh, hey, Juri, cool thought.... Arisugawa's
mechanical forms are powered in Shadow by the remote energy of the Eye of
Fire, right?"

Juri of Avalon says, "Yup."

Corrine of Amber OOCly grins. And corrine has been thinking this IC....

Manifestation, "Kubitant".  Shouldn't be THAT hard to Kludge....."
