Corrine of Amber says, "Work tomorrow, John.  Two days at work this week.
Boss wanting estimate on when I shall have a fix for something.  Need to
be sapient enough to actually DO said estimation. ^_-;"

Corrine of Amber says, "12 pm EST at latest, I should think.  Don't want
to push sleep wonkiness further."

Corrine of Amber says, "But, anyway... now that we are -here-...."

Juri says, "Gideon isn't."

Chris teleports into the room.

Chris has arrived.

Corrine of Amber says, "Yes he is."

Roderick says, "Cool."

Juri says, "Last time on FoF : The Spoon Gumi have teamed up with Evil
Delwin (whom none of them know IC is Evil, or Delwin) to steal the power
source of the squid."

Okay, last time you were on your way down to the'engine' room with the
Finndo with No Name.

Corrine of Amber OOCly is being suspicious of the Finndo With No Name
while trying not to look such.

Juri walks slowly, keeping an eye on Nameless and occasionally rubbing the
bowl of the Spoon with her thumb in an almost erotic fashion.

Roderick is too busy trying to look cool in front of Juri to be
suspicious.

The Finndo with no Name walks along with the comfortable slouch of a very
confident man.

Gideon follows, idly flexing his left claw.

Juri occasionally gives Roderick a smile, but mostly seems to have eyes
only for the Spoon and for the Finndo With No Name.

You walk for a fairly long time, as Fido is quite a large squid.

Juri drops back after a while to speak quietly to Gideon.

Corrine of Amber continues walking, memorizing the route for Trump-jumping
folks later if necessary, keeping her mind aware of Trump Energy levels
and how much they might interfere with Trumping in/out of the Squid.  No
risking frying the brain, here....

Hours later, you find yourself at a large door labelled in Thari.  'Engine
Room--Keep out if you don't know what you're doing.  And you don't, trust
me.'  The Royal Seal of Amber has been affixed in a very huge knob of wax
over the entire door handle and lock assembly.

Juri frowns at the seal.

Corrine of Amber arches an eyebrow, and glances at Roderick.  "Well, I'd
definitely say this is your squid, Roderick..."

Gideon calmly watches the others, waiting. 

Corrine of Amber watches folks, espcially Mr. Nameless.

Juri looks to the Finndo With No Name.  "Well?"

Roderick examines the seal closely.  "Well, looks like our royal seal.
Although how it got here..."  He shrugs.

"Didn't your Oberon build this... thing?" Juri asks distastefully.

The Finndo with no Name pauses to roll himself a cigarette.  "Patience is
a virtue."

Roderick says, "It just strikes me strange to see the royal seal of Amber
inside a giant Logrus creature."

Juri asks, "Indeed, and he who hesitates is lost.  Shall we exchange some
more pithy sayings, or get this over with?"

Roderick shrugs.

Juri turns to Gideon.  "Is it trapped?"

Gideon . o O ( Checking with all the usual senses. )

Corrine of Amber checks for Trump energies around the door and lock for
any trump-style traps, even though Gideon's likely got that covered...

The Finndo with no Name finishes rolling his cig and lights it.

Gideon looks the door over and hrms. "My ... nice setup they have here.
Magic, logrus seal ... "

Akemi pages, "No particular trump energies here beyond the amount
suffusing the squid." to you.
You page, "Righto.  So with the amount suffusing the squid it should still
be safe to trump in/out/around, like it was for them entering?" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You believe so." to you.
You page, "*nod* That allows Corrine to be willing to try her
psuedo-Living-Trump tricks, then." to Akemi.

The Finndo with no Name hands the cig to Roderick after taking a few
puffs.  "Stub this out on the seal."

Gideon . o O ( Checking the cig too. :) )

Roderick blinks, then stubs it out on the wax.  The wax stiffens and
cracks and falls off.  A black tendril shoots out of the door and slaps
Roderick, who goes flying down the hallway.

Corrine of Amber gahs, and tries to catch Roderick.

Corrine easily leaps and catches him before he goes too far.

Juri makes briefly as though to go for her blade, then simply glares at
Nameless and hurries after Roderick to make sure he's all right.

Gideon steps out of Roderick's way, commenting dryly, "Now that's nice
tobacco."

Roderick looks dazed, and you can see his eyes are unfocused.

Corrine of Amber checks on Roderick, to see if he's all right.

Corrine of Amber . o O (Oh poopie?)

The Finndo with no Name says, "Just what I thought.  Now, the real
question is whether it will recognize...no, it's Logrus, it would.  Hmm."
He continues to stare at the door thoughtfully.

Juri glares back at Nameless.  "Roderick?  Roderick, are you all right?
Speak to me."

You page, "Checking Roderick out with Corrine's field medicine skills and
stuff. *wl*" to Akemi.

Roderick's eyes focus.  "Are we there yet?" he mumbles.

Corrine of Amber comments, dryly.  "We're working on it, Roderick...."

"Wake up, dear," Juri says gently.  "We need to stop the Logrus Squid and
save the universes."

Roderick asks, "Do I get a party to celebrate and a kiss from the fair
maiden afterwards? "

Akemi pages, "He's mostly fine, he just needs a little recovery time." to
you.

Juri sighs theatrically.  "If you really want one."

Corrine of Amber chuckles a bit.  "Give him a few, and we can negotiate
something."

Gideon turns to Nameless. "So, got an idea how to open this?"

Roderick says, "I can skip the party if I have to."

Roderick gets up with help.

Corrine of Amber helps up Roderick, supporting him.

Juri supports Roderick if he needs it.

Juri says, "OOC:  Which of course, he does.  :)"

The Finndo with no Name says, "Juri, please stab the door."

Corrine of Amber says, "..."

Corrine of Amber asks, "Er?"

Roderick leans on Juri.

Corrine of Amber asks, "Um, Squid.  Logrus.  Patternblade.  Boom.  I
believe that's how it goes?"

Juri glances over at Nameless, her arm around Roderick to support him.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?  Patternblade, Logrus-blooded squid?"

Gideon says, "You're not going to stab the squid, you're going to poke the
Logrus seal on the door."

Juri nods, draws her sword, and, very carefully, jabs the Logrus seal.

The Finndo with No Name says, "Exactly.  The door is tied shut with Logrus
tendrils, and unless one of you is hiding Logrus Mastery from the rest of
us..."

Corrine of Amber positions herself to body-check Juri and Rodeick out of
the way should the Door go Boom.

There is a very bright flash.

Juri is thrown back about two feet.

You page, "Ahhhh... this was why we should've gotten Mikel or somebody to
help." to Akemi.

And then Nameless reaches over, turns the doorknob, and opens the door.

Corrine of Amber attempts the thing of catching folks.  Again.

Juri says, "Ouch", then gets back up and heads through after Nameless.

Gideon ignores flying relatives, as usual, and follows Nameless.

Corrine of Amber mutters, "This is getting to be a habit," and follows
after, helping Juri and Roderick and whatnot.

Beyond the door is a room full of floating red crystals, double pyramids
(two pyramids fused together at the base).  The ceiling arches up about
100 hundred feet, and the crystals are usually about a foot tall from top
to bottom points.

Juri says, "OOC:  Great, we've reached the power-up room from 'Quake'."

You page, "Can corrine be reminded of Ryoko's flagship? :)" to Akemi.

Akemi pages, "You all feel mildly nauseous." to you, Chris and Kima.

You page, "(ie, CabbitCrystals in RyoOhKi....)" to Akemi.

Gideon says quietly, "Juri ... be very, very, careful with that blade of
yours."

Roderick turns faintly green.

Juri asks, "Logrus-charged?"

Roderick says, "I do not like this room."

Gideon nods, looking rather pale.

Corrine of Amber frowns a bit, and looks like she's trying to keep her
lunch down... oh wait, she hasn't eaten in a long time.  "No.... no
kidding...."

Nameless begins walking through the room, examining each of the crystals.

Gideon tries to ignore the nausea and follows Nameless.

Juri follows Nameless, gritting her teeth.

Gideon and Roderick both begin to take on a faint red tinge.

Corrine of Amber uses her Massive Endurance Powerz to follow Nameless.
Hey, she's repaired a bleeping Pattern, she can do this sort of thing.

Several of the crystals begin to drift closer to Corrine

They turn a brighter red as they do so.

"What are they doing?" Juri asks softly.

You page, "Ermmmmmm?  Study the crytals, but DAMN wary of them... Trump
energies, whatnot, since I'm not exactly a sensing genius.... ^_^;;;" to
Akemi.
Akemi pages, "They have no trump energies, unlike the rest of the squid."
to you.

Roderick says, "Damnation."

Roderick winces and concentrates.  His skin takes on its normal tone.

Corrine of Amber replies, quietly.  "I... have no idea?  They don't have
-any- trump energy in them, though, unlike the rest of the squid..." Eh?

You page, "Checking manifestations to make SURE they're OFF... there's the
crossbow that was provided by ishamel, but that -shouldn't- be a
problem... should it?" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "Manifestations are off." to you.

Suddenly, all the crystals begin to emit a high pitched whine

The ones closest to Juri pull away from her.

Corrine of Amber winces at the whine. "...owwwch."

Juri grits her teeth further and snaps at the Finndo With No Name, "What
the hell is happening?"

The Finndo with no Name says, "I believe that the Squid is making another
jump, and that it is attempting to determine whether or not Corrine is its
favorite sort of food."

Corrine of Amber says, "........errrrrm."

Juri asks, "And it doesn't like the taste of me.  How unflattering.  Is
there any we to stop it jumping?"

Corrine of Amber says, "oh.  shit."

Roderick says, "And it's making my shapeshifting go wonky."

Roderick briefly turns into Benedict, frowns, and turns back.

Gideon stands there, looking at the crystals as if in a trance,
occasionally growing a few facial tentacles as his skin pulses from red to
green and back.

Corrine of Amber says, "I got that sinking feeling.  I -repaired- the Fire
Pattern at home, and given in its way I'm connected to it in that wonky
metaphysical way...."  She glares at the crystals, as if to try to ward
them off by sheer cussedness.

"Please," Juri murmurs, "no Gidemon."

Nameless says, "I should soon locate the central node and remove it,
causing the entire matrix to collapse.  Corrine, I suggest you stand in
the hallway for your own safety."

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Gidemon evolves into Vashamon!"

Juri moves close to Corrine and takes her by the arm, hoping to ward the
crystals off.

Juri asks, "What will happen when the matrix collapses?"

The crystals back off, from Juri.

Corrine of Amber starts backing off, but being sure to stay with Juri.

Juri says, "Shoo, you nasty things."

You page, "I take it Nameless's advice is sound for the moment?  Corrine
doesn't want to get seperated from Juri, and doesn't particularly want to
die -herself-...." to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You don't know if his advice is sound or not,
unfortunately." to you.
You page, "Mmmm.  Yeah, that's what I figured. :/ :P Especially since the
Talking Heads warned AGAINST the Finndo W/No Name....." to Akemi.

The Finndo with No Name says, "The matrix will unravel, and the Squid will
gradually lose its motive power as it uses up its energy, and will lapse
into being a dead squid.

Corrine of Amber says, "Dead Squid Is Good.  Not Being Dead Ourselves Is
Good.  Not Letting Shadow And Reality Die Is Good."

Juri asks, "What is the nature of the central node?"

Juri thumbs the spoon some more.

The Finndo with no Name says, "Part of it is what I'm looking for.  It may
contain more than that.  Essentially, it provides the Squid with its link
to the Logrus, a powerful logrus and spell processor."

The crystals stop whining and return to the more passive state of your
arrival.

Roderick twitches visibly.

Corrine of Amber purses her lips.  "I take it we just finished the jump?"

You now faintly hear bumping noises in the hallway from somewhere beyond
your sight.

Juri says, "Company."

Corrine of Amber says, "... I take it we also now have company...." She
glances in the sound direction from where they came.

Roderick turns and gazes down the hallway.

Juri begins drifting towards one side of the room.

You page, "Could corrine try something akin to trump-scrying to look down
the hallway?  Or is she still stuck with look and see physically? *wl*" to
Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You can try and concentrate and take a look." to you.

Corrine of Amber drifts with Juri.

Juri asks, "Does anyone have any idea what universe we're in now?"

Corrine of Amber purses her lips, and concentrates a bit...

Gideon moves away from the door, still staring mostly at the crystals.

Nameless says, "Not mine, yours, or Gideon's.  Beyond that, I'm not sure."
He taps a crystal with a pencil and listens to it resonate, then sighs and
moves on.

You page, "Okay, first a random attempt to try visualizing her beach house
-- ie, connect but not actually go through (ie, just to try and
confirm)... then to attempt to view down the hallway the same way." to
Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You don't seem to be able to connect to the beach house.
But you think you could to the hallway, as there's less interference with
it." to you.
You page, "Okay, trying the hallway for visualization purposes, then." to
Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You are able to scry the hallway.  You can see a dozen or so
huge white amorphous globs coming down it." to you.


"Problems?" Juri asks, sounding a little sympathetic and still wandering
around, looking at things.  "There are an awful lot of these crystals,
aren't there?"

The crystals continue to avoid Juri.

Corrine of Amber follows Juri, albeit a little sporadically as she tries
things.

Corrine of Amber says, "Erm."

Corrine of Amber blinks.

Roderick watches the hallway.

Corrine of Amber says, "Guys?  We've got about a dozen big white glob
thingies coming ort way"

Juri uses her crystal repellent powers (wheresoever they may be springing
from) to make sure the crystals don't eat Corrine.

You page, "... do they look like White Blood Cells? *wl*" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "Why yes, they do." to you.

Roderick draws his sword.

Corrine of Amber says, ".... scratch that.  WE've got big White Blood
Cells coming our way."

Gideon moves deeper into the chamber.

You page, "Can corrine remember what Ishmael/Rose was saying about "turned
into White Blood Cells to fool the squid?" *wl*" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "Yes." to you.

"Well, then," Juri says drolly, "I suppose it will be a bloody massacre,
then."

Corrine of Amber purses her lips.  "Wait... didn't Rose mention something
about changing shape so they could fool the blood cells by looking like
blood cells themselves?"

Corrine of Amber looks down at Gideon's shapechanging ring.

Juri quietly says something to Corrine.

Roderick grins.  "Good idea.  Gideon, I think we have some blood cells to
fool."

Corrine of Amber tilts her head to listen.

You page, "[Corrine] Yeah?" to Kima.

Kima pages, "[Juri]  'The Spoon is resonating to one of these crystals.
They're repelled by me and attracted to you.  Help me 'herd' them so I can
figure out which one it is the spoon is responding to.'" to you, Akemi and
Mike.

Nameless gradually makes his way towards the side of the room Juri is on,
but not very quickly.

Gideon turns back, looking vaguely annoyed. 

You page, "[Corrine] Ahhhh.... *nod* You've got it.  And watch out for Mr.
Nameless... he seems to be heading our way.  Should we try becoming White
Blood Cells as well?" to Kima.

Kima pages, "'I don't think he's noticed us, he's just being methodical.'"
to you.

You can hear rumbling noises as the cells approach; you have about a
minute before they arrive, you think.

Kima pages, "Okay, so Corrine and Juri are herding the crystals to find
the resonating one." to you and Akemi.

You page, "[Corrine] Gotcha.  Let's do this thing, then.  Shall we
WhiteBloodCellify ourselves, too?" to Kima.

Juri will try using Gideon's shapeshifting ring to disguise herself before
they arrive.

Corrine of Amber will be trying to do the same.

Roderick mumbles a few words, and then looks like a huge white blood cell.

Gideon sighs and follows the trend, reshaping himself into a white blood
cell.

Juri says, "GAP Amber : Everybody In Blood Cells."

Gideon . o O ( Hm. I should have sacrificed a few bunnies to make the
cells happy, maybe. )

The White Blood Cells come up to the doorway and peer in, looking
confused.

The Finndo with no Name remains Finndoy, and doesn't even seem to notice
the arrival of the cells.

Corrine of Amber . o O (Nobody here but us Immune System Components... we
already ate 'm.)

The cells bounce around a bit as if that would somehow cause their targets
to reappear.

Juri . o O (I'm just an innocent white blood cell, I is.)

Gideon . o O ( o/~ I'm a blood cell and I'm okay ... )

Kima pages, "Have we got a lock on the crystal yet?" to you and Akemi.

While the blood cells hestitate, Juri and Corrine manage to run down one
lone crystal, isolating it from the others.

Juri. o O (One, two, many dancing blood cells...)

The room rocks.

Juri peers at the crystal speculatively.

Corrine of Amber peers at the crystal too, in that White Blood Cell
Fasion.

Juri staggers as the room rocks, then steadies herself.

Corrine of Amber . o O (this is SUCH a funky feeling... lemme guess, we're
being shot at again?  Joooooyyy....)

Juri then she frowns, hesitates for a moment, and hits the crystal with
the Spoon.

The crystal pulses a bright red from Corrine's presence.  Looking at it,
you can make out...oops...

You page, "Did we see ANYTHING inside it when it pulsed? *wl* Though by
now it may be too late...." to Akemi.

The spoon slides through the crystal as if it wasn't there, and then it
hooks a large blue gem inside the crystal which is connected by a silver
latticework to a copper ring with a large chip of jet set in it.

Corrine of Amber . o O (Bingo.  Powersource.)

Juri pulls them free using the spoon.

The gem and ring sit in the bowl of the spoon for a moment, and then loud
alarms begin to sound.

Corrine of Amber . o O (Poopie, we're screwed.)

As Juri shoves them out of the crystal, it shatters, and then every single
crystal in the room begins to pulse alarmingly.  You hear the Voice of
Oberon.  "YOU WILL PAY FOR THAT."

Gideon . o O ( I have a bad feeling about this. )

The Finndo with no Name starts and winces.  "You found it, but..."

Corrine of Amber . o O (Yeah, and I'll be sending YOU the bill for
destroying my Ember TWICE...)

Looking at the gem, you can see inside it is a strange silver constantly
changing construct in three dimensions.

Juri slides the ring onto her finger and tucks the gem into her trenchcoat
pocket.  "I think we go now!" she shouts.

Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "I take it Juri just tried changing back into
human, there?"
Juri asks, "OOC:  Didn't the white blood cells leave?"
Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Good question."
The White Blood Cells were in the hallway, looking confused.
Roderick says, "OOC If you want to change your action in light of that,
I'll allow it."
Corrine of Amber OOCly says, "Psuedopods!"
Corrine of Amber OOCly also calls 30 minute warning.
Juri says, "OOC:  Right, well, slip the ring onto a pseudopod, then."

You put the ring on a pseudopod, no problem.

Gideon glides toward the door.

Corrine of Amber moves to cover/engulf/grab Juri as needed to get them out
of there by Trump if things haven't gone totally haywire.

The Finndo with no Name shouts, "No, don't put it on, you fool!"  He
begins to run towards you.  Black tendrils are beginning to erupt from the
crystals.

Roderick retreats towards Juri and Corrine.  "I think this is our cue to
get the hell out."

Corrine of Amber entends psuedopods to grab Juri and Roderick.  "Fine By
Me...."

Juri barks a word of power, flinches, then pulls the ring off.

Juri suddenly arches back as though having a convulsion and screams.
"CORRINE!  GET AWAY FROM ME!"

Juri gasps, rips the ring from her finger, and staggers sideways into
Roderick.

Roderick catches Juri in his arms, reverting to human.  "Corrine, get us
out of here.  Or someone!"

Corrine of Amber says, "WHA?"  She backs away, quickly, moving for
Roderick, but at the same time trying to protect/avoid Juri... She shifts
to human, grabs both, and trumps them to the Hallway where they first
entered the Squid.

The room rocks as tendrils erupt at everyone.  The Finndo with No Name
casually sweeps a hand and flames burn away the ones closest to him.

Corrine, Juri, and Roderick vanish, leaving Gideon and No Name behind...

Corrine, Juri, and Roderick appear in the middle of flames.  The squid is
burning and coming apart.  There's ichor everywhere.

Corrine of Amber says, "YACK!  ... so much for 'harmless shutdown'..." She
frowns, still staying close to the two, and starting to try and trumpscry
for exits/external locations in her home universe, since they're the best
known to her....

Juri shudders in Roderick's arms, looking near tears.  "It tried to make
me kill you..." she murmurs, glancing at Corrine.

Corrine of Amber shudders.  "... dammit.... it's off now, though?  You're
safe, it's safe?"

Juri nods.  "The ring is a spikard, but with some kind of compulsion on
it.  The destruction of fire patterns.  I'm not sure what the jewel is,
although it reminds me of the elemental eyes."

Roderick holds Juri tightly.  "It's over now, Juri."  

The ever changing tracery continues to dance in the heart of the gem.

Corrine of Amber sucks in a breath.  "... by the four heraldric
beasts...."

Corrine of Amber then looks at the gem and its tracery.

Juri sighs once, then moves away from Roderick, calm again.  "Is it really
over?  Will it stop now?"

Corrine of Amber purses her lips.

Corrine of Amber says, ".... you know,... if the DemiJewels hold a slice
of the True Pattern, a static shape within them...."

Juri frowns.  "Then an ever-changing shape would mean..."

Corrine of Amber says, "... could this be, with its constantly shifting
shape... something related to Logrus?  A 'Logrus Gem' or such?"

Akemi pages, "You need something to boost your power so you can punch
through the interference.  It's getting worse." to you.
You page, "Fsck.  And Corrine DOESN'T HAVE such a thing, save the
Anti-Chaos spoon, or the Logrus Gem, or the spikard, and that LAST is
right out..." to Akemi.

Juri asks, "It would make sense as the power source for this thing.  The
question is, what do we do now that we have it?"

Juri looks back in the vague direction of the engine room.  "Nameless
wanted it, and Gideon..."

Akemi pages, "Someone is trumping you." to you.

Corrine of Amber purses her lips. ".... well, I don't know, but if I don't
find a way to boost the power of my Trump Ability, we're going to be
hosed, 'cause the interference to the outside is getting worse....."

You page, "True Trump Memory Caller ID.  Who is it?" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "It's your old buddy, FINDY!" to you.
You page, "SHIT!  *ANY* WAY to block?????" to Akemi.
Akemi pages, "You can hold her off for a while with Pattern Defense." to
you.

Juri pauses and takes on the distant look of someone taking a trump.

Roderick says, "Juri, please hand me the spikard.  I have an idea."

Juri pulls Gideon out of the air.

Autolyca pages, "Hi!" to you.
You page, "Hi, Jeff!  How is?" to Autolyca.
Autolyca pages, "OK.  You?" to you.
You page, "Pretty much packed for the trip now, and fighing off mental
dominance in the middle of a Logrus Squid. *wl*" to Autolyca.

Gideon quickly turns back into a more humanoid shape.

Juri asks, "Corrine, perhaps you and Gideon can find a way together to
boost the Trumps and get us out?"

Gideon says, "That was less than pleasant."

You hear the sound of machine guns in the distance.

Corrine of Amber grits her teeth, suddenly, tensing.  "....not
*AGAIN*...."

Juri nods, looking haggard, and turns to Roderick, carefully holding out
the spikard to him but still keeping a firm grip.  "What's the idea?" she
asks dubiously.

You page, "Hell with it.  The squid's coming apart.  Things are going to
hell.  Time to take the big risk.  Pattern Defense, and pray to hell we're
back in the home universe." to Akemi.

Roderick says, "Spikards draw power from shadow and process it."

Roderick says, "Now, if you use the ring, it also powers the compulsion."

Corrine of Amber growls under her breath. "... you're not taking my mind
over AGAIN, *bitch*...."

Gideon looks at Corrine, "Problem?"

Roderick says, "However, I believe I can make something that will 'tap
into the lines' before they enter the spikard, and thus while it won't be
able to tap the full power, I could draw some power off it to help our
Trump artists get us out."

Gideon says, "Not a bad idea ..."

Corrine of Amber snarls under her breath, using pattern defense the best
she can.  "... findy... not letting her into my mind...."

Akemi pages, "The pressure relieves a little briefly from Juri's power
word." to you.

The machinegun noises get closer.

Gideon smiles and concentrates.

Corrine of Amber gasps softly as the pressure relieves a little bit for a
moment, and she keeps up her defense, not able to do much else right at
the moment...

The Squid rocks again.

Juri grabs Corrine and brings her own Pattern to mind, trying to lend her
strength.

Juri says, "Get us out, Gid--use your spikard like Roderick said."

Akemi pages, "the pressure eases up a lot now." to you.
