Moyer" To: John Biles , "Amy \"General Chaos\" Borden" , Chris Angelini Subject: [Amber/TAMD] Gideon, Corrine -- Pattern Alternatives Gideon . o O ( And what's mad about my plan? Now, the originator of the plan might be mad though ... ) Leather Knight Kasumi says, "Heh." Shizumaru says, "Cool." ============================= ============================= Queen Yuriko takes Gideon, Nanami, Anthy, and Corrine down to one of the small meeting rooms with a nice oak table, padded chairs, and a currently unlit fireplace. Servants bring you wine and cheese. The Queen then departs to leave you to your work and return to hers. Corrine sighs, plopping down in a chair and rubbing her brow. She smiles a bit at the servants, and thanks them. Gabrielle settles inside the fireplace for the moment, crackling happily. Corrine considers the presence of windows in the room, and smiles at her daughter. Gabrielle o O (Mmm, wood. Delicious wood.) Back in Ember, Shizumaru starts to feel nervous, and resolves to keep a safe distance away from Gabrielle. Nanami asks, "So what is your plan, Gideon?" Corrine pours glasses of wine for those there, and slices herself a piece of cheese. Gideon sits down at the table and leans back, quiet for a moment before speaking. "One of our problems, as Juri told it to me, is an elemental imbalance ... with the appearance of another fire pattern and Rebma vanished, fire has gained strength. I would assume a new water pattern should help in balancing things." Corrine arches an eybrow at that. "Going to be pretty difficult, without a native DemiJewel of Water or the True Jewel around. Nevermind what might happen whenever Rebma reappears." Nanami nods. "As Corrine said. Still, it would be useful. I suppose we could try to find a flawed jewel, which while it would produce a flawed pattern, would be better than nothing." Gideon says, "I hold the DemiJewel of Water of my universe. It might be of use." Corrine stares a bit, then shakes her head. "Merp. Would that even -work-?" Corrine says, "I mean, our imprints are different than yours... *pause* then again, one has the example of Corwin as a template..." Corrine mutters something about unexpected suburbs under her breath. Anthy looks thoughtful. "I would be inclined to suspect the result would simply pinch off a bubble of shadow around it and move it to your home universe, although that's only random speculation." Nanami says, "Well, I don't think it could hurt...either it does something or it does nothing." Nanami says, "I can't see it making matters any worse, though." Corrine says, "Hmr. If it did the 'bubble' effect, that wouldn't help us much, since it'd just be taking away more from what we currently have." She frowns a bit. "But I can't -see- many other options for this, other than dragging Rebma back from wherever the hell it's gone." Gideon nods, "Well, to find out what the most likely outcome would be is why I wanted to talk to you. As you know, the Patterns contained within the Jewels are three-dimensional, our two-dimensional ones, mere slices of it. Considering all Jewels are in turn images of the eye of the Serpent, the manifestation of the one Logrus, there is a possibility that your pattern is included in it, too." Corrine nods. "That's a good point." Corrine says, "They're all subsets of the Uber-Jewel, if you will, so by extension..." She shrugs. Nanami says, "Hmm, yes, that does make sense. It would probably be easier with your True Jewel, but I can see it being done." Gideon grins, "I doubt that the holder of our Amber's true Jewel would let me borrow it, even if I could ask." Corrine says, "There still could be a problem whenever Rebma comes back, though. Two Water Patterns, one reality... I recall Ishmael speaking a while back about problems he had had in his own universe with two Fire Patterns being in competion." Corrine says, "But then again, if it's a stopgap..." She considers, and shakes her head. "No, that'd leave the drawer vulnerable, too." Anthy says, "And our own True Jewel has been stolen." Nanami says, "That assumes Rebma even exists any more for anything to compete with it." Nanami says, "The fact that trying to contact it got a big HOLE in creation makes me think it's gone forever." Corrine mmms at that. "All that can be opened can be shut." Gideon asks, "A big hole?" Corrine says, "We're not sure. I sent rangers to investigate the coast, but when I tried to trump gate to the Rebma Stairs, I got a big void instead." Corrine says, "There's a storm over the ocean that's cut visibility down to nil." Gabrielle crackles in the Fireplace. "Why not ask Dad? Or my uncles?" Corrine says, "Grandfather filled up the hole with some big robots, hammered them into shape, and then used the Elder Sign to seal it closed." Corrine considers. "Hm. Good point, Gabrielle." Nanami says, "Basically, a big black hole opened and started sucking everything in. Quite nasty." Corrine says, "..." Corrine says, "What's worse is that -something- was trying to come -out-, Nanami." Gideon says, "Something was coming out? Fascinating ..." Corrine says, "Looked like... a big creature of some sort, made out of galaxies in bubbles." Corrine says, "Hiko's got a trump of that, whatever it is... Tylor apparently found it while in Shadow a long time ago. Damned if I know what it IS, but whatever it is, it can't be good." She frowns. "Probably an Outsider." Corrine says, "Or something of that nature, anyway." she shrugs. Gideon hms. Corrine says, "All I know is that when I looked at the void, there was... -nothing-. Not Pattern, not Logrus, just nothingness." Corrine says, "But grandfather's Elder Sign had a 'colorless' Pattern imprint to it... which sealed it up." Gideon says, "That is what is supposed to happen when the Outsiders are freed ... destruction of the Logrus. End of the Pattern. Rule of the Outsiders ... one of whom was trying to come through. Things are already worse than I imagined." Corrine says, "Ewwww. Ugh. -Damn-." Corrine closes her eyes, and rubs her brow. Anthy purses her lips. "My greatest fear is that the Jewel of Judgement may have been pulled down in the wreck of Rebma and fallen into their hands." Corrine says, "If Derith went down with them, and if he had it... Shit." Corrine says, "But nobody's tried trumping him lately, and I'd rather NOT repeat today's earlier events." Nanami frowns greatly. "Quite." Gideon asks, "Do you have a library here, texts about your Pattern?" Corrine says, "So, either it's still out there somewhere, or it's not. We've got a possible way to counteract the Water Pattern loss, which may have repercussions later, but if we don't LIVE to 'later', it'll be moot anyway." Corrine nods. "Yep, we've got a library. About on par with Ember's, if not moreso." She smiles, wryly. Anthy says, "We have some texts on the Pattern, although much of the known lore is simply inside people's heads." Corrine mmms, and nods. "Grandpa would be the best to talk to, but he's busy checking the Primal. Drake's out somewhere in Shadow, Derith is missing, and sis is Missing." She sighs. Gideon says, "I'd still like to take a look at them. Don't want to accidentally blow up another universe." Corrine dryly comments. "Pyricorn forfend -that- from happening." Corrine eats another slice of cheese. Nanami says, "I can take you to the library, where Travis can help you find them." Gideon nods, "That would be much apreciated." Corrine considers. "Meanwhile, I think I'll go and try and contact the Grey Knight. Hiko's busy with the Green Knight, and the Red Knight, though reachable through Gabrielle, has his own things to work on." ================ ================ Queen Yuriko says, "OOC Okay. Nanami will take you down the library, where you'll be ensconsced in lore collection for a while." Queen Yuriko asks, "OOC And we'll cut here. Where will Corrine be going to next, Phil?" Corrine OOCly says, "then after that, check on the various kids, and probably see about arraning getting JuriAv and Shizu and Roderick down to Amber via Gaby or Hiko FirePatternTeleport." Corrine OOCly says, "But we can all play those things later." Corrine OOCly says, "Er, mean Hiko FireTeleport." Corrine OOCly says, "Since, I need to go now. :)" Shizumaru waves. Queen Yuriko says, "OOC righto. The Gray Knight can tell you that Rebma has dropped off his radar, and is either destroyed or somehow yanked out of the range of power of the other Patterns." Shizumaru says, "See you inna bit, Phil." Corrine OOCly says, "What we figured, but hey. She's suspecting/hoping the latter, wrt. what Derith would have been intending." Shizumaru OOCly says, "John? Please let Derith survive what he did to Rebma so we can kill him ourselves. :)" Queen Yuriko says, "OOC There's now a massive shadow storm where it used to be, although it's slowly dying down." Corrine OOCly says, "Or at least to spank him. :)" Corrine OOCly says, "So that would be the storm everybody's seeing." Corrine OOCly says, "What's the 'charge' on it?" Corrine OOCly says, "And the reports from the rangers from observation?" Queen Yuriko says, "OOC The ocean has flooded the land two miles inland where the steps used to be and storms shroud observation." Queen Yuriko says, "OOC Storm is charged with Water and Colorless Pattern" Corrine OOCly says, "*facepalm* Figured it would be. Righto. Either Derith's on the outside with the Water and True Jewel, having 'shoved' Rebma away.. or he's on the inside and totally stuck." Corrine OOCly says, "I get the feeling this is the source of the Shadow Storms shoved through trumps." Corrine OOCly now has an image of Derith having pulled out a HUUUUUUGE drain stopper, and Rebma spiralling down the hole. ============================================ ============================================ Corrine OOCly says, "ahwell. Now, to head home. With scene complete, stopping logging." Nan desu ka? (Type 'Help' for help) Corrine OOCly waves. Shizumaru waves.
