Moyer To: John Biles , Amy "General Chaos" Borden , Chris Angelini , Rosemary Walker Subject: [Amber/TAMD] Hiko -- On The Road To Brass Foxtrot has arrived. >> A portal opens up and out pops a fox-woman. Corrine OOCly gets back from system hang, and args. But supposes that would be where things should Fork, anyway. *wry look* Hiko the Firechilde exclaims, "Right!" *** Foxtrot goes IC. *** Shizumaru OOCly yikes. Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "We're at the tree, and the Hanged Man was saying some stuff." Michelle says, "OOC Just a second, Trish :0" Juri asks, "OOC You likely to be on tomorrow night, Drew?" Hiko the Firechilde OOCly sniffs. "You SAID he was done!" Shizumaru OOCly says, "Hopefully, yes. More hopefully, without this bad back. x.x" Juri says, "OOC I didn't think you'd be quite so fast :)" Shizumaru OOCly says, "See you soon, all." Juri exclaims, "OOC Okay, see ya then, then, Drew!" Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "Night..." Corrine OOCly waves, again too late. *sigh* Juri stretches OOC, then goes IC. Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says sultrily, "Want me to take my time next time, baby?" ======================= ======================= DRUMS...DRUMS IN THE DEEP...THE OWLS ARE NOT AS THEY SEEM... Juri says, "OOC Hehe." Peorth OOCly says, "take as much time as you want." Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "Hey, was THE THUNDER ROLLS one legit? That's a Garth Brooks song lyric, btw." The Hanged man continues to babble loudly, making it hard to think. Juri says, "OOC That would be telling :)" Juri plugs her ears. Hiko the Firechilde sighs, and taking off her cloak, she wraps it around Shadowfax's ears and soothes him. "Gotta do this, okay Shadowfax?" Hiko the Firechilde shouts up as loudly as she can, "Hey, MISTER!!!!" THE CHILD OF FIRE BURNS LIKE A COMET AND PASSES AWAY...I AM BECOME DEATH, THE SHATTERER OF WORLDS... Juri winces more and starts stuffing dirt in her ears. Hiko the Firechilde extends out her hands, screening the immediate area around her, Juri and the two horses. Juri relaxes. beware bar-abbas....the shadow knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men...a bird in the hand is worth two in kate bush...number nine...number nine... Hiko the Firechilde goggles at Juri... "Do you know who he is? And what he's talking about?" Juri says, "He is the Hanged Man. He's been hanging there for as long as this place has existed. And I have no idea what he means." Juri looks up at him. "In fact, I never heard of him talking before." Hiko the Firechilde nods, and weaves her hands a bit more. Hiko the Firechilde asks, "Do you know how to climb trees, Mother?" Juri looks at you as if you asked if she knew how to breathe. "Yes, daughter, I know how to climb trees." one ring to rule them all...one ring to find them...one ring to bring them all...and in the darkness bind them.... Hiko the Firechilde asks, "I don't know how to climb trees. And I have a feeling that the Seed of Hope is on one of those branches," she points, "up there. How much time do you think it will take to find the City of Brass?" Juri says, "Probably at least a week." Juri says, "Maybe two." Juri looks up assessingly. "But it could take us weeks to search all of Yig for the Seed." Hiko the Firechilde nods... "I'm afraid I have to leave this task for Shizumaru-san... " Suddenly, an idea strikes her. Hiko the Firechilde dispels the spell she just built. FIVE RINGS FOR THE LORDS OF AMBER...SEVEN FOR THE DRAGONS....NINE FOR MORTAL MEN DOOMED TO BE THE LION'S PRIDE... Hiko the Firechilde starts. Corrine OOCly just Looks at GM. Mercutio pages, "He's got more. LOT'S more." to you. You page, "Oh dear." to Mercutio. Hiko the Firechilde OOCly thwaps the GM. "Pay attention to semantics." The Volume drops again. Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "THANK you." Hiko the Firechilde boggles at the Hanged Man's ravings. Hiko the Firechilde looks down at her hands, questioningly. Juri asks, "Is something wrong, Hiko? Beside the deranged ramblings?" Hiko the Firechilde raises her hands again, and points at the tree. Again, the spell unravels as fast as you cast it. Hiko the Firechilde shrugs. "I can't waste any more time on this." Juri asks, "Waste time on what? What were you doing?" She turns to Juri. "I'm trying to see if I can sense the Seed, but something keeps unraveling my spells. Juri nods. "Perhaps Yig is saving the seed to give to Shizumaru." Hiko the Firechilde laughs. "Perhaps. I had no idea it was sentient." Hiko the Firechilde bows to the tree. "I apologize, but I was hoping to be able to take it FOR Shizumaru." The wind rustles the branches. And the Hanged Man just won't shut up. An Acorn falls on his head and he falls silent. Hiko the Firechilde says, "You do understand, right? I bear no sign of the Lion." The branches rustle, but Yig itself doesn't seem able to talk. Hiko the Firechilde says, "Right..." Juri mounts her horse. "I think it is time for us to ride on." Hiko the Firechilde quirks her eyebrow, looking around the tree for a bit, one last time to fix the place in her memory. Hiko the Firechilde nods, mounting her horse. "Let's go, Mother." Hiko the Firechilde afks for Hot cocoa.... Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "BAck." Hiko the Firechilde nudges her horse forward, maintaining her screen. Juri begins riding along, and soon Yig begins to fade behind you as the grass slowly turns red tinged and the sky begins to turn swirly colors. By the end of the day's ride, the grass is all red, and the river flows purple. The sun hangs redly on the horizon, never quite setting, and all the animals look subtly strange. Hiko the Firechilde blinks at the color of the sky and urges Shadowfax to follow Shiroi faster. She also unwraps her cloak from around the horse's head. Hiko the Firechilde asks, "I was just wondering something. Do you know what an efreet is?" Juri says, "They're fire genies." Hiko the Firechilde asks, "What do they look like?" Juri says, "Father used to have one trapped in a bottle that granted wishes." Juri says, "Imagine a human being with huge fangs, bright red skin, and about twenty feet tall." Juri says, "Badly dressed in a black tunic, and carrying a huge black metal scimitar." Juri asks, "I take it we should expect to meet some along the way?" Juri looks about warily as you make camp for the night, clearly not pleased by this prospect. Hiko the Firechilde says, "Well, they're supposed to be in the City." Hiko the Firechilde asks, "I take it they're not nice?" Juri nods. "That makes sense. They love fire. Father finally got rid of his after it set his bed on fire while granting a wish." Hiko the Firechilde asks, "How did he get rid of it?" Juri says, "Efreet hate humans because we tend to trap them in bottles and make them grant wishes." Hiko the Firechilde OOCly pauses to run upstairs to take her contacts out. Juri says, "He used sorcery, I think." Hiko the Firechilde OOCly returns with glasses and hot cocoa. Hiko the Firechilde nods, helping Juri make camp. "Who will stand watch first?" Juri says, "I will take first watch, Daughter." Juri says, "I feel a bit wound up." Hiko the Firechilde nods. Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "Fast forward through the night?" Juri pauses a moment and thinks. "You can protect us against the fire of where we are going, correct?" Hiko the Firechilde says, "I think so... I've been able to control and move through fire all of my life." Hiko the Firechilde furrows her brow. Juri nods. "Well, we're going to be in trouble if you can't." Hiko the Firechilde says, "I've been burnt several times over the years, but I've learned how to deal with fire and move through it... an entire CITY of fire..." Hiko the Firechilde spends several minutes racking spells. Juri says, "We'll be passing through fire shadows for probably a week before we reach the City of Brass." You page, "Okay, so perhaps Corrine should've gone with Hiko and Juri. But hey! It's not like she -really- filled in Juri about Fire Jewel capabilities. [Corrine facepalms. "Gimme a break! It's not like I knew about all THIS coming to be." *muttergrumble*]" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Yeah, it would be...HANDY :)" to you. Hiko the Firechilde nods thoughtfully, muttering to herself. You page-pose, "Aerianne tries to figure out just how much Corrine WOULD have told Juri. If they had traveled to the Fire Pattern together to examine the damage, then she would likely to know about the protective aspects." to Akemi. You page, "(Corrine not about to let her big sis get burned again. Thankyee.)" to Akemi. You page, "Your discretion, of course. *wry look* don't want to upstage PC's. ^_^;" to Akemi. In a page-pose to you, Akemi nods. Trying to get Scriv moving right now. Hiko the Firechilde says, "I think I can handle it." Juri says, "Good." Hiko the Firechilde relaxes suddenly and turns over on the ground, wrapping her cloak around her. "Good night, Mother." Juri bends down on one knee and kisses your forehead. "Goodnight, my daughter." Hiko the Firechilde looks up, and there is a sudden hitch in her breath. She shudders, smiling a sad, sad smile and goes to bed. The night goes by undisturbed. The next three days go by swiftly. The air gets ever hotter, and the land dries to desert, The river fades to a stream, and gradually sinks into a gulley. What few plants there are are reddish tinted, and every once in a while, the ground bursts and flame briefly jets up. The sun never sets, and it seems ever larger. The sky seems to change color every few minutes, and the animals sometimes shapechange or have flame powers. Hiko the Firechilde rides, keeping in close contact with Juri and the horses, her cooling spell settling over all of them. As you continue riding, you get a strange uncanny feeling which disturbs you but has no apparent source. Juri looks about, frowning slightly, then stops her horse and stares towards the horizon, apparently at a cactus. Hiko the Firechilde looks as well. It just looks like a normal cactus. Juri draws her sword. Hiko the Firechilde draws her sword as well. "Mother?" Hiko the Firechilde looks around for any obvious threats, and non-obvious ones. Juri suddenly leaps off the horse, and comes down on empty air sword point first. The air suddenly erupts in crackling black flame, forming a sort of tentacle that heads off towards the horizon. It quickly dissipates. Juri sighs. "Logrus tendril. The forces of chaos are after us." Juri runs back over to you. "We're going to have to hurry, or there will be chaos demons all over us in a day or two." Hiko the Firechilde says, "The Lion of Chaos... Annadil." Hiko the Firechilde schools her expression tightly. "Let's go." Juri says, "No way to know who, exactly. We're going to have to hell ride. Get those fire protection spells up." Hiko the Firechilde nods. Hiko the Firechilde raises her hands, and a cool bubble descends over all four of them. Juri nods, and then she spurs Shiori forward. And here's where we cut, 'cause I'm exhausted and need sleep. ============================ ============================ Hiko the Firechilde OOCly says, "Okay... get thee to sleep, John." Corrine OOCly nods. Right. Same here. *wry look* *** Foxtrot goes OOC. *** Hiko the Firechilde says, "And a flight of angels speed thee to your rest." Tybalt asks, "Will you be sitting in on the Avalon finale tommorrow, John?" Hiko the Firechilde hugs/kisses John. "Night." Juri says, "I'll likely be doing homework and listening to mike cackle :0" Juri huggles the Hiko goodnight. Hiko the Firechilde waves... heading to the Keep.
