Finally, the elves call you down to the beach. Ulmo rises from the waves again. Ulmo says, "I COME BEARING SEVERAL GIFTS WE HOPE MAY AID YOU IN YOUR QUEST." A chest washes up onto the beach as he says this. It is pretty hefty, about the size of a steamer trunk. Shaft opens the chest. Inside, you find a sword, a necklace with a jeweled hammer, a vial of glimmering clear liquid, a cloak, a key, and a long length of chain with manacles. Shaft blinks Shaft takes up the sword and gives it a few practice swings. Ulmo says, "THE SWORD CAN CUT THROUGH ALMOST ANYTHING. IF YOU TAKE THE NECKLACE TO THE DWARVES, THEY WILL AID YOU, AS IT IS A SIGN OF AULE, WHO MADE THEM. THE LIQUID CAN HEAL WOUNDS AND ITS LIGHT DISPELS DARKNESS AND ILLUSIONS. THE CLOAK MAKES ITS WEARER INVISIBLE. THE KEY OPENS ANY LOCK, AND THE CHAIN, WE HOPE, CAN BE USED TO BIND MORGOTH, SHOULD YOU BE ABLE TO OVERCOME HIM. THOUGH THAT IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE" The sword balances well and has strange runes carven along the blade. Shaft whistles Shaft bows to Ulmo. "Coo- ah... My thanks, Lord Ulmo." Ulmo smiles. "YOU'RE WELCOME." Shaft asks, "and have the other Valar any words for me?" Ulmo says, "MOST OF THOSE ITEMS ARE GIFTS FROM THEM. THEY WISH YOU WELL ON YOUR MISSION. AND MANDOS SAID TO TELL YOU TO BEWARE THE WALKING MAN. WHATEVER THAT MEANS." Shaft scratches his head. "That sounds kinda familiar...." Shaft says, "I, ah, don't suppose you could imbue me with a floorplan of the castle or somethin'....." Ulmo says, "NONE KNOWS WHAT LIES WITHIN ANGBAND BUT MORGOTH AND HIS SERVANTS." Shaft mutters, "Nuts." Corrine of Amber OOCly goes "....." Shaft bows to Ulmo. "Again, my thanks. Off to bitchslap Morgoth now, I guess... see ya in a few." Ulmo laughs loudly and departs. You round up your posse, get on the boat, and head back to land. Ulmo asks, "OOC How you gonna divy up your new goodies?" Shaft says, "sword goes to me, as does the necklace. cloak, key, goes to lupin" Shaft says, "liquid to... whoever our resident mage is" Shaft says, "oh... might'swell hold on to the chain too." Yumi is your resident mage type person. Shaft tosses the vial at Yumi. Lupin grins brightly at the cape and the key. He pockets the key and somehow folds the cloak into a pocket until he needs it. Lupin says, "This alone will be worth all the dangers we have faced." Shaft asks, "Lupin.... the key goes back t'me when this is done, y'hear?" Lupin nods, but you have a suspicion you won't be seeing it, one way or another. Shaft facepalms After some travel, you reach the coastline and sail into the ruined city, then spend a day trying to find your elven friends you left behind. You finally track them down.
