Gabrielle asks, "Did she immiedatly notice his intense and raging mack?"

Kanna OOCly says, "Lucien is Cool.  And Cute."

Kanna OOCly says, "Yes, she noticed."

Moriya OOCly laughs.

Beowulf says, "I'd *wondered* who won that auction... :)"

Moriya OOCly says, "It was a public auction, Prof."

Gabrielle says, "You wondered? Dude, it was public."

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, it was formally announced, prof...."

Moriya OOCly says, "Anyway, let's let Prof go ahead with his session."

Lily says, "OOC Ready when you are, Travis"

Gabrielle asks, "Hey.... Shaft'll have a funeral, won't he?"

Kanna OOCly says, "I should HOPE so."

Beowulf says, "True, but I was doing the auction sitting at MikeJohn's
apt, didn't actually *see* the screen. :) Ready, John."

Gabrielle starts prepearing a statement.

Moriya OOCly says, "I suggested it earlier. I think we should RP it
out."

Kanna OOCly says, ": should make a few, too.  Corrine'd want to say a few
words, I suspect."

You and Lily head on your way to Rick's Cafe.

After walking through the city for a bit, the streets grow drier and
dustier. Soon, they come to a building with a large neon sign above the
door: Rick's Cafe Americian.

Lily smiles.  "Will the Nazis be appearing?" she asks playfully.

Beowulf says, "I certainly *hope* not." He smiles. "But Sam really is as
good as you'd expect."

Beowulf says, "OOC pause"
Beowulf OOCLy grins... Back, and Retro Cocktail Hour just started
playing Tank! from Cowboy Bebop. :)

Beowulf asks for a table as they listen to Sam playing the piano.

The waiter bows to you and takes you a table as Sam plays softly and
people bustle about.

The waiter then hands you two menus and asks, "Would you like something to
drink while decide what you want?"

Beowulf holds out a chair for Lily and seats himself.

Lily takes the chair and sits, smiling.  "I think I'll have a glass of
white wine."

Beowulf gets a glass of hot tea, Orange Ginger Mint.

When the drinks arrive, Beowulf raises his cup to Lily. "Here's looking at
you, kid," he says, and grins. Then Rick yells at Beowulf for stealing his
line.

Lily laughs and raises her glass.  "Here's to good times and good
friends."  She then sips her wine and pores over the menu as if it was one
of the dead sea scrolls and she needed to interpret it.

Finally, she asks, "Are the pork chops any good?"

Beowulf says, "They were quite good, last time I tried them."

"Alright, I'll give them a try," she says.  The waiter comes round and
takes her order.  And what will you be ordering?

Beowulf orders a nice Kansas City strip.

As you wait for your food, Lily reaches for something which isn't there,
then sighs.  "Well, the urchin has my copy of Percy's fortune.  I don't
suppose you brought one?"

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher says, "OCOly ack."

Beowulf hmmms for a second...

Beowulf reaches under the table and pulls out a copy. "Here we are..."

Beowulf says, "Beware the Ice Queen, who possesses Flame Frozen in
Stone, and her lover who rules Chaos with his passions.  You must flee to
the empire ruled by a hammer if you would be free of the power of the old
one eyed man and his chaos winds.  You will go on a long journey, and if
you want to live, you must find the one-side loop and the storms under a
blue light."

Lily says, "I had a sudden thought about what Flame Frozen in Stone
could be."

Beowulf blinks and looks at Lily. "What did you come up with?"

Lily says, "Since Stone and metal are covered under the same element, it
could be a reference to the Fire Pattern Blade"

Lily says, "Werewindle"

Lily says, "Which is, in a sense, Flame frozen into Metal, which is
under the element of stone"

Lily says, "However, I suppose it would be hard to refer to Drake as an
'Ice Queen'"

Lily says, "Assuming it returned to him at the end of the Annadil
Crisis, which may not be the case."

Beowulf nods. "That certainly makes sense. It's always tricky, the way
prophecies talk in riddles... there's always so many possible
interpretations." He grins wryly.

Lily sips her wine.  "I know, I know.  Makes you wish the Primal Powers
would be more clear."

Beowulf nods. "We'd have to ask someone when we get back to Amber; I'm not
sure myself."

Scriviner has connected.
Nagisa OOCly wavies.
Moriya OOCly waves.

Beowulf says, "Since Drake was supposed to have stormed off into Shadow
looking for Derith, it's always possible he didn't stop to pick it up."

Lily nods.

Lily says, "I keep wondering why he doesn't take anyone's trump calls."

Beowulf says, "Of course, if he *did* pick it up, it's always possible he
was captured and it was taken from him. Right -- he hasn't been heard from
since then."

Lily says, "I just keep wondering why anyone would bother being after
Percy."

Lily purses her lips.  "Unless he hunted some Chaos lord who was somehow
trapped in animal form."

Beowulf says, "That really puzzles me, as well." He shakes his head.
"The best thing I can think of is that it's something that involves
Arden as a whole, and affects him as an important Arden official."

Beowulf asks, "That's possible, I suppose. I wonder how we could tell?"

Beowulf shakes his head. "I'm really not sure what to think about that; we
certainly didn't see anything in Talislanta to suggest how he could be
involved."

She nods.  "Well, there's a million possiblities, and it could be the
storms and the loop have no connection."

Beowulf says, "When we go back to check on Talislanta, perhaps we should
go by Non-Euclidean University; I'm pretty good at working in academia."

She nods. "Good idea."

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher says, "OOCly non-euclidean U O.o;"

The waiter brings you your food, and Sam switches to a more spritely
tune.

Your meal passes with pleasant conversation; the food is, as usual,
quite excellent.

Beowulf says, "OOC First pledge break is in about 15 minutes, so we'll
probably need to cut it off then." Lily says, "OOC Check."

Beowulf smiles ruefully at Lily. "I am sorry for all the trouble this time
around. Hopefully I can make it up to you."

She smiles.  "Oh, we're both immortal.  Time is always on our side." She
takes another sip of wine, then looks thoughtful.  "Does the piano player
take requests?"

Beowulf nods. "Can I take one up for you?"

Lily nods.  "Something we can dance to."

Beowulf smiles nervously. "I'm not much of a dancer, but I'll try for you.
Sam undoubtedly can give a better recommendation than I can." He smiles
ruefully again.

Beowulf goes up to Sam and suggests he play his best dancing music.

She stands and waits for your return.

Beowulf says, "OOC Er, asks Sam politely."

Sam nods and starts into a lively song good for swing dancing.

Beowulf goes back to Lily and offers her his arm.

Beowulf gestures towards the dance floor.

She takes your arm and moves out onto the dance floor with you.

Lily ends up leading, much to her amusement.  She's a lithe and
energetic dancer, and soon the two of you are swinging across the floor.

Beowulf stumbles a bit at times, but he's a fairly coordinated fellow, and
in its own way this is not too much different from the drills he's done
with weapons and unarmed combat...except less violent :)

Beowulf smiles, relaxes, and leaves things to the more experienced
driver.

She spins you out and pulls you back in, and soon the two of you are
whirring like tops.

Much to his surprise, Beowulf finds himself enjoying things immensely.

Lily has the look of someone lost in the music.  She's obviously quite
ecstatic; you've seen her dance before, and she always looks a little
wild.

Beowulf grins, caught up in her excitement.

You dance on for a time, and then head back to your place once you pay
your bill. And then Travis runs off to collect MASSIVE PLEDGES!  Really.

really recovered from my nap, and with DST making us lose an hour
soon...."

Moriya says, "Oh, did Gabby reprogram Mo? o.o"

Lily asks, "The switchover is tonight?"

Moriya says, "Apparently so."

Gabrielle says, "Yep, John."

Lily curses space and time.

Two days pass and soon, you're both ready to go after the kid.

Beowulf leads Lily to the entrance, and gets ready to pop out.

Beowulf asks, "You ready, Lily?"

She nods.  She's changed into a leather hiking outfit, more practical for
trouble than her usual garb.

Beowulf nods, and is sure she looks just about as good in that as she does
in anything else she wears. :)

Beowulf says, "All right, then... let's go."

As you prepare to exit, a huge pale hand reaches into the bag and
fumbles about.

TimeRunner has arrived.
Nausicaa says, "OOC hiya."
Nagisa says, "Hey, TR>"
Lily says, "OOC Howdy"
Nausicaa asks, "OOC What's up?"
Jacqueline the Planet Smasher says, "OOCly Beowulf's scene is...
progressing."

Beowulf leaps past the hand, out of the bag into what looks rather like a
jail out of a western movie.  A man in a badly made red and blue suit with
a backwards S on his chest stands there with his hand stuck into the bag. 
His hair is cut in a mop cut, and his skin is pale.

Several Bizarro Cops stand nearby, watching. You realize you're inside a
fairly large jail cell, while a confused looking urchin stands on the
other side of the bars.

Your whip cracks out, wrapping round the bag, but your effort to pull it
out of his hands fails, 'cause he's got a strong grip.

Beowulf bows to the Bizarro Cops. "Ah. I am most unhappy to see you.
This boy did not steal this bag and some other items from us."

Beowulf quickly hangs the whip on his belt.

You page, "... okay.  that sounds like Juri." to Chris.

"Boy say he am not criminal, so we not lock him up," Bizarro Superman says
to you.

Beowulf says, "The boy is not a criminal. He committed a very serious
crime, and should not be turned over to our custody for punishment."

Beowulf OOCly says, "I hope that parses right. o.o"

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher says, "OOCly he is a criminal, committed a
fluff offense, and should be ahnded over....."

"You am not boy's lawyer?" Bizarro Superman asks.

Nausicaa says, "OOC It's... bizarro. o.O"

Beowulf asks, "I am not the one who owns the bag. Can I choose to press
charges?"

Nausicaa says, "OOC 'scuse me."
TimeRunner has left.

One of the cops says, "Boy did not break into prison with stolen goods,
then did not confess to being criminal.  So he am now not locked up."

Beowulf says, "Ah. Breaking into prison is not a serious offense."

"New Bizarro President announce Death Reward for breaking into prison.
This common problem here."

Beowulf says, "I do not have fairly urgent business elsewhere. I am
willing to press charges on the theft of those goods... Oh. Death Reward
is not a serious business."

"President Shrub hates executing people, so he want to give many death
rewards."  He shakes his head.  "But big villains just come back when not
killed."

Beowulf says, "Can he not have extenuating circumstances? He was
completely aware of some odd properties of the not-stolen items that
could not cause accidents."

"Hmm.  Well, if you want boy executed, then we can't let him go."

The kid just watches in utter confusion.

Beowulf pats the boy on the shoulder. "I want boy executed. He committed a
very serious offense against us, and he does not deserve minor punishment
that we could give him."

Beowulf says, "Er, that we could not give him? OOC Hope that parses
right."

Bizarro Superman nods.  "Do not let the boy in," he says to the
policemen.  One of them starts to go over to them.

And then you start to hear this weird wooshing noise.

You page, "I suppose, in a way, we should pity 'Dar'.  The last time she
got backed up, Juri didn't have ubergod-levels of warfare. :)" to Chris.

Beowulf says, "OOC Uh-oh."

And then a greek column appears around Bizarro Superman, who vanishes
inside it.

Beowulf looks around to see where the Tardis is materializing.

With your bag, mind you.

Beowulf turns to the other Bizzaro Cops.

And you hear the voice of the Master.  "Well, Beowulf, now I have your
magic bag.  And all the secrets of space and time will be mine!"

Beowulf says, "This is not the ship of a very dangerous man. You should
not be careful around it."

Beowulf sighs. "Ah, yes. We meet again. Really, haven't you learned any
better by now?"

The cops begin to run around shouting, "Superman not save us!  Superman,
don't ever save us!"

"Yes, this time I waited until someone ELSE was holding the bag!"

Beowulf OOCly says, "Did Lily come out with me?"
Lily says, "OOC She didn't get out before the bag got closed too tightly
to exit after you tried to grab it."

"With this bag, I will capture the Eye of Harmony, and THEN I'll finally
be able to force the Doctor to use my full name."  Blah blah, rant,
rant...

Beowulf quickly runs over to the evidence table, grabs Lily's stuff,
then runs over, takes the boy's hand, and shadow steps into the Tardis
interior.

You find yourself in a room full of Cybermen.

The Master's voice says, "Naughty, naughty, Beowulf.  I'm afraid you
won't catch me with that trick twice."

Beowulf pushes some gold coins into the kid's hands, whispers 'Use them on
the chest gratings if they get close to you!' to the kid, and tosses him
past the Cybermen. Then he uses the whip to disarm as many Cybermen as he
can.

You begin disarming Cybermen.  Eight lose their guns swiftly.  Two more
shoot cheesy lasers at you and miss, then you disarm them.  They rush at
you.

Beowulf then grabs their guns and hoses them down.

Soon, there's ten smoking Cybermen.

Looking around, you can see there's not an actual door.

Beowulf checks on the kid, then starts looking... ah.

Scriviner teleports out of the room.
Scriviner has left.

"So, you think you can handle Cybermen?  Well, let's see what else I
have in cold storage..."

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher says, "OOCly idles for drive home"

Beowulf rolls his eyes. "Haven't we been through this before? Return my
things to me and I'll let you go."

"Now, now, Beowulf, you can't let me go because you don't have me."

Beowulf shrugs. "That can shortly be remedied."

There is an audible pop and ten Daleks appear.  "EXTERMINATE!!!!!" they
bellow tinnily.

Finn OOCly says, "Quick, find some stairs!"
Beowulf OOCly says, "Too late... new-model Daleks can climb 'em. :)"
Lily says, "OOC Well, in the last Dalek appearance, they demonstrated they
now have mini-jets for climbing stairs :)" Beowulf OOCLy says, "Well, a
grav-disc, actually. :)"

Beowulf whispers to the boy, then pulls him up onto his back.  Then, as
the Daleks open fire, he dodges their shots, charging one and wrapping his
whip around its eyestalk/cannon.  As he leaps over it, he begins yanking
it about with the whip, guiding its fire to blow up its friends. Daleks
whir about, firing wildly.

PRetty soon, between them shooting through their friend to try to hit
Beowulf and the one he's controlling still firing wildly, the Daleks end
up as burnt out hulls.

"Your persistence begins to annoy."

You shadowstep again, this time landing in the control room.  The Master
looks even more annoyed.  He yanks a lever, and a door opens. Yeti begin
to pour into the control room.

Four are into the room, with more to come.

The Master moves over to another lever.

Beowulf dives at the first Yeti and yanks its control plate open,
pulling out its controlling intelligence ball.

Beowulf whips the ball at the Master who dodges.  As he dodges, Beowulf
whips out at him, knocking his TCE out of his hands, then whips the Master
again, grabbing him.  He then spins, whipping the Master around into the
midst of the Yeti, who begin to pound on him.

As they do so, one of the Yeti slams its elbow into a lever and the
TARDIS begins making Whooshing noises.

Beowulf begins examining the controls.

The controls indicate you are now headed to sector 36-24-36

The boy says, "Are we there yet?"

Beowulf says, "Not quite yet."

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher OOCly unidles.
Rod has connected.

The Yeti keep pounding as Beowulf drops the kid and goes and grabs the
TCE.  Then he watches the Yeti whale on the Master.

This goes on for a while.

Finally, as they are about to finish him, Beowulf begins whipping one of
them until he collapses.

The controls make more whooshing noises; you've arrived somewhere.

Some of them turn and charge Beowulf. He cracks the whip repeatedly,
whipping open their chest plates and sending their intelligence spheres
everywhere.

Soon they're all lying around out of commission.  The rest continue the
fine art of Master Beating.

Jacqueline the Planet Smasher OOCly facefaults

Another one gets struck down, then Beowulf repeatedly cracks the whip on
the Master, who collapses. The remainder charge him, and he steals their
balls too.

Soon, the room is full of out of commission Yeti and one knocked out
Master.

Beowulf goes and gets the bag, locks the Tardis doors, then takes the kid
and jumps inside the bag.

Lily is waiting for you.

Beowulf looks at Lily to make sure she's OK.

She's sitting quietly on a bench, waiting.  "So how did it go?" she
asks.

Beowulf says, "I'm afraid he's a bit the worse for wear," he says,
setting the Master down on the floor and smiling.

Beowulf tells the kid to stay still. How long does the Master look like
he's going to be out?

A fair while.  The kid sits on the bench, still confused.

Beowulf smiles reassuringly at the kid, and says that everything should be
all right shortly.

Beowulf says, "Lily, I suspect he's not as strong psychically as you;
since we have him here in our hands, and can have essentially unlimited
time to work, I'd like to see if he's got any other nefarious plans going
on, before we drop him off for justice."

She nods and kneels down by him, putting her hands on his forehead.

Her eyes widen.  "Oh my. I see why he wanted your magic bag."

Lucien OOC snarfs.

Beowulf watches them carefully to make sure Lily's all right, and gets
ready to step in if it looks like she's in trouble.

Beowulf OOCly blinks.

Beowulf asks, "Eh, Lily?"

She continues, "He believed you had a map to one of the Spikards.  He
planned to combine it with the Eye of Harmony to do
something...umm...which I can't understand the physics of."

She continues, "Apparently, there were three vases, and each of them had
part of a map to one of the spikards."

Beowulf asks, "A map to one of the... oh, dear." He boggles a bit. "My,
my. I *am* glad we decided to check him out, so to speak. Does he know
which one?"

Beowulf says, "I think our quest to the temple has just gotten a
priority bump upwards; to keep it out of troublesome hands, at the very
least."

Beowulf asks, "How did he find out about it?"

She nods.  "Also, he was about to sell a whole village of Gummi Bears into
slavery."

Beowulf's mouth quirks up for a moment. "Dear me. We can't allow that, to
be sure."

She concentrates, digging through his brain.  "He stole...oh my. He made
off with books of lore which a Chaos Lord had just purchased from Anno."

"They led him to the dig site, where he discovered you'd dug up the
vases."

Beowulf's eyes suddenly sharpen. "Books of lore? And *which* Chaos
Lord?"

"Some fellow named Lord Flitterby from House Spania."

The_Prof pages, "D*mn. This little side-track suddenly got a lot more
important." to you. You page, "... eyup.  And oh gee." to The_Prof. You
page, "Remember who you sold the OTHER TWO vases to...." to The_Prof.
The_Prof pages, "Uh-huh. Though he's missing a part..." to you. You page,
"(reading backtrack) Ah, good point." to The_Prof.

Beowulf says, "Hmm. I don't recognize him, but when I get a chance (and
after we recover the Spikard, if we can), might be worth looking him up to
return them. It never hurts to have a Chaos Lord owe you a favor."

She nods.  "The spikard thing seems to be his main project at the
moment."

Beowulf asks, "All right. Hmmm. Can you implant a compelling to stay
quiet, docile and well-behaved, so we can get him back to Panopticon
without trouble?"

Beowulf asks, "Also, can you find out where he's got the books of lore and
the Bizarro Superman stored?"

She says, "I will do my best.  The books are in his library.  Bizarro
Superman's in a special holding room."

Beowulf says hastily, "If it's a drain for you, don't worry about it."

She laughs.  "Don't worry, I'm a professional."  She goes to work making
sure he won't cause any trouble.

Beowulf smiles back and rests a hand on her shoulder, if he thinks it
won't disturb her.

Beowulf says, "Thank you, Lily. Thank you *very* much."

Lily soon finishes working the Master over, and then you go into the
TARDIS.  It's just hanging out.

Lots of unconscious Yeti are lying around.

Beowulf gives Lily a quick hug before stepping out of the bag. "Thank you
again."

Beowulf goes over to the console and does a quick scan of the
surroundings to see where they've landed.

Beowulf DOH's, and quickly jumps back into the bag, sets it back to
normal time, and pulls the Master back out.

You go back for the Master, but he's vanished.

You still have control of the Master's Tardis at the moment. In sector
36-24-36, whatever that is.

He goes and gets Lily and brings her back.  She tries to trace him and
announces, "He's gone."

Beowulf asks, "Hm. Trumped out, perhaps, or teleported out?"

Lily says, "I don't know.  He just isn't here."  She frowns.

Beowulf asks, "How far of a range do you have on your traces?"

Lily says, "It takes days of real time to try to trace someone across
shadow."

Lily says, "If they've gone very far."

Beowulf says, "Right; I'm sorry. I meant I was wondering how far the
trace you just ran on him extended."

Lily says, "Oh.  Just inside this bag."

The kid seems to have vanished too.

Beowulf says, "Ah. D*mn. All right, then. Let's get back out; stay back a
second while I check to make sure he hasn't trumped back out into his
Tardis."

Beowulf OOCly curses himself.

She nods.

Lily asks, "So we're going to step out of the bag?"

Beowulf says, "Right. But stay back a second while I check to make sure
he's not waiting outside for us."

She nods.

Beowulf steps out of the bag cautiously.  Hey, look, it's the shadow of
infinite hellfire!

Your clothing goes up in a second and you feel yourself start to char.

Beowulf grabs the bag and trumps out to first card he can grab.

There is a flash of light and you land in a whorehouse on New Hong Kong.
 You thought you'd lost this trump deliberately, but it apparently came
back.

Several of the ladies of the institution turn and stare at you in
surprise.

Beowulf quickly selects a trump for his quarters, and trumps there.

Beowulf then jumps back inside the bag.

"Hey, Beowulf, you..."  one of them begins, smiling, but then you
vanish.

The bag is not in your quarters in the palace for you to jump into.
GM suddenly realizes he screwed up.

Right, you jump in the bag.

You set the bag to fast time. Lily stares in shock.  "Beowulf, what
happened?"

Beowulf grins ruefully at Lily. "I got careless. Stepped out into the
shadow of infinite hellfire."

Lily looks you up and down, and you now realize you're extremely naked at
the moment.

Beowulf quickly conjures clothes on himself.

She grins and tosses her cloak over you.

Beowulf blushes slightly and looks up at Lily, still grinning ruefully.
"Could I bother you for a slight healing spell, or would it be better to
stay fast-time and let it heal naturally?"

Lily smiles.  "With our skills, we could do both."

Beowulf smiles and bows back. "As you like it, dear lady."

Beowulf asks, "Also..." He sighs. "I'm assuming the Master took the kid
with him, but could you check to see if he's here, just in case?"

She spends a while scanning, then announces, "He's off robbing a toy
store elsewhere in the shadow."

Beowulf whews. "All right... having the Master on the loose is bad, but at
least he didn't take the kid with him."

She picks you up.  "I'll just carry you home, put you to bed, throw some
spells on you, and then let you rest."

Beowulf asks, "I'll have the local authorities keep an eye out for him,
and have him fostered to... hm, who would be a good role model for him?
*Not* Sam Spade... perhaps George and Gracie?"

She says, "I think they'd be good for him.  And no, not Sam Spade."  She
laughs.

Beowulf smiles and relaxes into her arms. "Thank you, dear lady. Um...
I'll see if I can conjure a bed for you before you put me under; I slept
on the couch, but I wouldn't make you do so."

She just _smiles_ at you.

Beowulf says, "...oh dear," he mutters.

She carries you along home and sets you down in your bed.

You page, "[Kanna] GO, BEY!  WHOOHOO! *pumps fist in the air*" to
The_Prof.
The_Prof pages, "[Beowulf] Hey, I'm a *gentleman!*" to you.
You page, "[Kanna] You -sure- you didn't win the "Sexiest Man In Amber"
auction? *she grins, and then waves a hand* Sorry, sorry, just kidding."
to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "[Beowulf]...unfortunately, I don't think she
is. o.o" to you. You page, "[Kanna patpats.  "Eh, we'll forgive you."]" to
The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "[Beowulf]...Thank you. ^_^" to you.

She sets you down in the bed.  She then casts the healing magics on you,
and you end up out like a light.

Lucien OOC Night all!
Lily says, "OOC G'nite@"
Beowulf exclaims, "OOC Seeya, Jeff!"
Autolyca has disconnected.

You sleep well. You wake some time later.

There's a second bed in the room, pulled up next to yours.

Beowulf stirs groggily, and does a mental inventory, to see how he
feels.

Lily is clonked out in the bed, buried under several layers of sheets.

Beowulf smiles gently at her.

Your skin is still kind of tender, but you feel much better

Beowulf asks, "OOC Does she look tired?"
Lily says, "OOC She's asleep.  It's hard to tell if a sleeping person is
tired :)"

And you're peeling a lot, leaving you looking rather pale.

Beowulf mentally shrugs at his tan. Easy come, easy go.

Beowulf gently sits up, seeing if he feels dizzy.

You're in the clothing you conjured for yourself earlier.

You feel fine, though you need food pretty desperately.

Beowulf goes into the kitchen and begins cooking cornmeal pancakes and
hoagie for breakfast.
