Jacqueline says, "OOCly yo prof, just got back from Chaos :)" Ramon shakes his head. "I haven't heard anything." Jacqueline frets even more. "Ano... can you try to trump them?" Beowulf says, "OOC Oh, my. :)" Ramon says, "Sure, I'll call you back in a minute." You wait for hours, but he doesn't trump you back. You gonna try trumping him or someone else? Jacqueline asks, "OOCly cripes. shadow's fast-timed, right?" Ramon says, "OOC Yes. This is probably why it's taking him so long :)" Moriya OOCly says, "Yes. You can ask Kafuin to synch time back up for a moment until Ramon trumps you back, though." Jacqueline decides to kill some time looking to see if Uncle Shizumaru is around, maybe get sword pointers from him Arden Beyond the Wood Door [Exits: Skippy, Main Room. ] Contents: Damasq, Kuonji Ukyou, and Michelle. You found a ^_^! Beowulf says, "Figure it'd be good to get me a bit more caught up. :)" Sumire says, "Heh." Beowulf says, "Been playing with Kanna? :)" Sumire asks, "Okay, you're going to basically ride through shadow from panopticon to the dig site next, right?" Beowulf says, "Unless I can think of a place to trump to that'd be somewhat closer." Beowulf says, "Probably take the Humvee, unless Lily or Mitsune can think of a good reason not to." Y'all pile into the Humvee and take off across shadow. Beowulf keeps an eye out for anything of interest as they shift shadow. The week goes by quite peacefully. Lily asks, "OOC Aaargh, what did I say the name of this Shadow was again? Where you did the dig?" Beowulf says, "OOC And there went a bit of the catch-up. :)" Beowulf says, "OOC Dirklos, I believe." Beowulf says, "OOC You said 'It's a shadow full of ruins,' and that there wasn't anything really unusual about it, or I woudl have kept the vases instead of selling them." Dirklos is a shadow of small peasant villages, thick dangerous forests, and dozens of ancient ruins far more advanced than the peasants, who claim the gods used to dwell in the cities. Beowulf checks around to see if anything's changed -- both obvious changes in the landscape/etc., and checking with some of the villagers he talked with before to see if anyone else has come to visit. Dame Marge says to you, "These hideous beastmen keep raiding out of the forest into our village. It's not safe to go out at night any more, and they keep stealing the crops too." Beowulf hmmms, and asks her to describe the beastmen. Beowulf asks, "OOC Do I remember seeing anything like them when I went outside of the villages last time?" "They're fearsome beasties, with bodies like men, though sometimes with hooves, not feet. And they have heads like animals. They have swords and armor, but it's usually all rusty, doesn't fit, and looks stolen." This shadow used to only have humans in it. Beowulf asks, "OOC Sound at all familiar to Bey?" Lily says, "OOC They sound rather chaosy to you, although there's a fair number of shadows on this side of Yig with such things. But none of those on the Yig side have any shadow travelling abilities." Beowulf asks, "OOC Also, ask her to describe the armor, see if it sounds familiar to him -- could be armor from one of the locals?" Her description of the armor isn't very good, as she knows little of locals. But it sounds like plate and chain, and the locals mostly use leather, cuirboulli, or bronze. Knows little of ARMOR Beowulf nods. "Hmm. Sounds like someone has brought in horrors from the outside to harass you." Beowulf asks Dame Marge if there's anything he can do to help them before he tries to seek out the source of the attacks. She shakes her head. "You'll do more good if you can find and stop the raids than anything you could do around here." Beowulf nods. "Good enough, then. Hopefully we can clear up this problem for you." She nods. "We'd be right grateful." Mitsune says, "I can have my horde of SD-Amberites fan out and scout for us." Beowulf says, "I'll do what I can." Beowulf nods. "That'll help." Beowulf asks, "OOC How far is it to the ruins?" Beowulf asks, "OOC Also, checking watch, what's active here?" Lily says, "OOC IT's about a half day's travel. With the Humvee, about an hour." Lily says, "OOC Time is same as Amber, all powers functional here." Beowulf attaches a couple of branches to the back bumper of the humvee, just behind the wheels, to brush out tracks, and sets out for the ruins. You drive to the ruins. They're still fairly well ruined. One odd thing about them is that no plants grow inside the ruins. Beowulf gets out of the humvee, and stuffs it back into the bag. He moves to cover and looks for any obvious changes to the ruins since his last visit. Beowulf asks, "OOC Were there plants growing there before?" Lily says, "OOC Nope." Beowulf OOCly nods. There are signs of fresh excavation in places and lots of fresh footprints all over. Mitsune sends out the SD- Amberites to search. The SD amberites return, reporting eight bands of ten or so beast men scattered about. Each is riding herd on forty or so green skinned goblins who are being forced to dig up parts of the site at the command of warriors in full blood red plate with two handed swords and horned helmets. Beowulf asks, "Did the armor look like it fitted any better on the commanders?" Beowulf asks, "OOC and did the armor look familiar?" Lily says, "OOC The armor is not particularly familiar. But from what they say, the commanders seem to have human heads and the armor fits well." Beowulf hmms. "How hard would it be to find a spot where we could observe them?" Beowulf says, "OOC I want to see what the excavation patterns look like compared to where I found the vases." You could try climbing up inside one of the larger surviving buildings. None of the groups are at exactly the same point you were at. Beowulf nods. "D'you want to climb in the bag while I sneak up to one of the buildings, or would you rather..." He wiggles his hands, attempting to mime shapeshifting. Mitsune wiggles. "Hmm, that didn't do anything." Lily turns into a cat and jumps up onto your shoulders. Mitsune blinks. "Oh, right." Instant fox. Beowulf grins and scratches Lily between the ears. Beowulf watches for the best opening, then begins sneaking over to the tallest building that's easy to get to. Lily purrs. You carefully sneak along. You climb up into a tall building. From the fifth story, you can see most of the ruins. Eight bands are busy digging as the SD-Amberites reported. One of them is near your original dig site. Beowulf adjusts his spectacles to get a closer look at the ones closest to his dig site.
