Lyra has left. Beowulf OOCly waves. Kanna OOCly says, "So, last we left our heroes, Sheila in humanform and Kanna in herself were running and carrying Beowulf and Paris-Lian in Lian's body through the funky purple field." Beowulf says, "OOC Or had already been zapped to... wherever. :)" ===================================== ===================================== The glow clears, and you find yourself standing in the middle of a wide open field. Two armies are charging towards each other; humans with pikes and a great tide of demonic looking humanoids riding equally demonic looking horses, carrying swords and maces and lances. ===== ===== Kanna OOCly says, "... of course. *sigh* Okay, where the HELL can we pull back to from this, as both Sheila and Kanna should be able to sprint for cover if possible." Beowulf says, "OOC And if we're in the middle of the field, we're in the middle of the action? ^^;;" ====== ====== There is basically no cover whatsoever, unless you run at least a mile and a half in one direction or another before the two armies come together. Each army is about 500 feet away from you. ====== ====== Kanna OOCly says, "Could Kanna sprint that far that fast? and shiela?" Beowulf asks, "OOC And would Bey, at least, be able to keep up and let the other two go faster carrying Lian-P?" Loewen says, "OOC You haven't much of a chance, as the onrushing cavalry will be on you in a few seconds, and sadly Amberites cannot run the five second mile." Kanna OOCly says, "Damn. So, defensive formation, try to blast a hole in the demonic formation, hopefully? What's P-Lian's reaction to this sudden development?" Loewen says, "OOC P-Lian is currently bound and gagged to keep her from causing trouble, so you aren't sure what her reaction is." Kanna OOCly says, "Oh. Right. D'oh. -.-; What does tactics say the best thing to do in this situation as our brains go into overdrive?" ====== ====== The_Prof pages, "It never rains, but it pours... o.o" to you. You page, "Of course. But you have Morkleb and Kanna has Beryllina, at least." to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Morkeleb and the Whip. :)" to you. ====== ====== If you just want out of the battle, plowing through the wimpy looking humans is the best option, as they look unlikely to successfully fight you off. If you don't want to hurt the humans, beating up some demons, taking their horses, and breaking through their line is the best option. ===== ===== Kanna OOCly says, "I'd say take the horse, myself." Kanna OOCly says, "As I have Some suspicion what we've stumbled into." Beowulf OOCly nods. ===== ===== Kanna exclaims, "SHIT! That's the LAST time I let Wasyuu make the travel arrangements! Bey, Sheila, grab some horses!" Beowulf hops down and gets the whip and Morkeleb ready to beat up demons, and starts Morkeleb generating a fly spell. Kanna shifts P-Lian to a one-armed hold as she draws Beryllina and shifts it to staff form. The three of you beat down the onrushing riders and grab their horses. It's hard to control the creatures, but you then can start cutting yourself a path out Kanna carries and helps them bull a way through. She continues holding onto P-Lian, though when things start to let up for them, she'll remove the gag (but not unbind her). Where can we retreat to recover and regroup? You break through the line of cavalry into the rear of the enemy line. ===== ===== Beowulf asks, "OOC What's the rear look like? Much support stuff?" ===== ===== Several units of cavalry and infantry stand back about a thousand feet in reserve. Beyond them is the enemy camp. You can make a break along the back of the enemy frontline and head off for the forest in the distance if you like, or start shifting shadow with the equipment Wasyuu supplied you with, to simply head into places where the battle is not. Kanna frowns. "Bey, opinion... circle around and make a break for the forest, start shadowshifting, or try to mess these folks up? Hate to leave a thing unfinished...." Sheila says, "I think we should just get out of here and go find Lian. As I can't see how the three of us can beat down an entire army." Beowulf nods. "Right, they're massacring those poor humans; our best shot to help would be to see if we could take out the leadership of the demon army, give the humans a chance to retreat." Kanna says, "You've gotta point. Let's move, Bey." Beowulf sighs. "I suppose. Dang it." Kanna says, "Okay, you've -both- got points. Move for the forest, if we can sight the leadership on the way, we can snipe, if not, we move for shadowshifting." Beowulf nods. "Let's go." Beowulf starts leading the group towards the forest, keeping an eye out for the demon's leaders on the way. Kanna keeps an eye out as well, shifting Beryllina to crossbow form. You sprint between the lines, heading for the forest. The enemy leadership never particulary comes into view, but a small squad of cavalry comes after you as you ride between the lines. Beowulf shrugs as they move. "They'll probably catch up to us, but I think we can take them." Kanna sighs. "Cavalry incoming, I'll try to ward them off a bit." She starts shooting around the ground behind her (the same trick as when dealing with serpent's horn) as she rides. "Yeah, a smaller group, but I'll try whittling a bit." Beowulf looks for the optimum spot to turn and intercept them, giving them enough time to get ready while denying them the same. ===== ===== Kanna OOCly says, "(behind/angled, trying to break up the ground near the cavalry folks. If it doesn't have much effect, I'll stop and refocus.)" Kanna OOCly says, "And of course following Bey's lead." Beowulf says, "OOC Giving our group enough time. o.O" ===== ===== You hose down the ground around them. They pretty quickly get the picture of the level of damage you cn do, and they decide it isn't worth bothering to chase you any more. They peel off and you successfully break for the woods. Beowulf gets the gag off of p-Lian as soon as they get safely under cover. Kanna chuckles softly, shifts Beryllina back to cavalry saber form, and sheaths it. "That did the trick." She then steels her features. "Time to find -our- Lian, then..." Going to start seeking Lian in shadow, then? Beowulf growls. "I suppose. It really sticks in my craw to just leave the people there to get massacred, though." ===== ===== Beowulf asks, "OOC Any reaction now from p-Lian?" ===== ===== Kanna waits to get Bey's thoughts on the matter. "Well, if you feel we can contribute further to the situation, while keeping our own hides intact, I'm good either way." P-Lian says, "Sure it does. You can put up a little act, but you won't fool me. I can tell the blood of Chaos runs in your veins." ===== ===== Chris pages, "[Lian] Try trumping me, maybe? :" to you. ===== ===== Kanna considers something. Beowulf shrugs. "My grandmother came from Chaos, yes. Some people preferred having an escape clause." P-Lian . o O (Moo?) Kanna says, "Pure blood of Amber/Ember here. And I don't think Sheila has -any- of that. What the hell, give it a shot..." She pulls out her trump deck, shuffles through it, and pulls out her trump of Lian, -her- Lian. She concentrates on it... Beowulf spells it out for p-Lian. "She wanted to get *out* of Chaos. And my grandfather was able to pull her out." ===== ===== Beowulf says, "OOC All completely true, as far as I know... o.o" ===== ===== Akemi pages, "You successfully get through to Lian for about three seconds and then the contact crashes." to you and Chris. ===== ===== Kanna -curses-. "DAMN! I almost HAD her!" Beowulf blinks and looks at Kanna. "What?" Kanna exclaims, "I tried trumping -our- Lian... things worked for a few second, then it frotzed on me!" Beowulf asks, "Frotzed?" Kanna tries tapping Gabrielle's Mad Powerz, but already expects there to be no maifestation link. "Trump Contact Crash." Gabby makes no reply. The manifestation pings. 'Out of Range Error' Kanna says, "And don't bother trying to contact Aeris, we're too far to connect." ===== ===== Jacqueline says, "OOCly wrong room, senor" Jacqueline says, "OOCly oops, me bad" Kanna OOCly says, "WEll, I know, but we need to make sure. :)" Loewen says, "OOC Not an error. She just tried using a Gabby manifestation. :)" ===== ===== Beowulf nods. "Ah. Well, if her mother's device couldn't reach her, she's probably shielded in some way. If it were just a matter of blocking, enough of us could possibly joinn together and get enough Psyche to break through, but this sounds like something different." Kanna says, "Unless you want to confirm. But you'll probably get the same result." She sighs. "Now I know how mom felt during -her- travels. Looks like it's shadowwalking to find her, then..." Kanna nods to Beowulf. ==== ==== Kanna OOCly says, "how does the battle look to be going?" ===== ===== Well, it'll probably last 2-3 more hours, but the humans are pretty inevitably going to lose. The more disciplined troops in the center may be able to withdraw successfully if something hampers the onslaught of their foes, or if the enemy troops lose their coherence. Kanna frowns. Does it look like she and BEowulf could successfully snipe/suppresion fire with Beryllina and Morkeleb from the cover of the woods? ===== ===== Beowulf asks, "OOC What's the behavior of the demons like? Clean fighting, or atrocities?" ===== ===== The_Prof pages, "Trying to find an IC way to justify going after them. :)" to you. You page, "Heh. :)" to The_Prof. ===== ===== Kanna . o O (Oh, for the working of of high technology here...) Both sides seem to be fighting pretty brutally, but it's in the range of brutality you'd expect in a medieval battle. People are being ripped limb from limb, but they aren't like, raping the dead or eating people or killing all their prisoners. You could start firing from the woods if you wanted too, but at that range, your accuracy wouldn't be very good. It might draw off some of the reserves, though, which would hamper exploitation of the demonic upper hand. ===== ===== You page, "Wow. Flashback to the Twilight of the Cimbri again!" to Akemi. ===== ===== Kanna rubs her throat absently, her expression distant as she studies the battlefield. Beowulf asks, "Anyone got some destructive magic they could dump in the camp area to pull off folks from the front, while we snipe at folks?" Kanna hehs, and -looks- at Beowulf. "That's sis's thing, not mine." She quirks a slight smile. "Beryllina in Whalekiller form might be able to do some decent damage, but Shiela and Ice Fang are close-in." You page, "Ice Fang allows auto-parry of projectiles, and an array of ice magics. Sheila -might- have a decent ranged ice spell in it, tho. (since Kanna doesn't know full capabilities.)" to Akemi. Kanna hrms, looking at P-Lian. "I wouldn't suppose -you- know any sort of magic..." She says, "No, I don't." Kanna says, "Ah. Ahwell." She shrugs, and looks at Beowulf. Sheila says, "Too bad there's no way to summon up a storm or something to make the battle break for bad weather." Beowulf hmms. Kanna hrrrms? Beowulf asks, "I could make a pretty large container of explosive paintball fluid that we could use on 'em. Another thought... how sophisticated is Washuu's shadow-shifting device? Think we could use it to shift shadow enough to bring a massive storm through here?" Kanna considers. "Dunno... did it come with a manual or online help?" Kanna and Bey presumably study Wasyuu's gizmos. Beowulf asks, "Does your Patternsight work here?" Kanna considers, and tries that, patternsighting Bey, herself, and P-Lian in Lian's body. Wasyuu's device is for shadow travel, rather than shadow molding, so it's not much use for molding a storm into place. Kanna is unsuccessful at getting any results. Beowulf drats. Kanna curses. "Well, -fuck-. -Pattensight- isn't working..." Kanna tries a bit of Pattern Defense on herself. ===== ===== You page, "Wheee, us being limited in Patternuse.. ie, none at all... -.-;" to Chris. Chris pages, "Yaaaay." to you. You page, "What be happening main-room?" to Chris. Chris pages, "No idea. I'm in there with you, remember?" to you. You page, "Ah, right. *wl*" to Chris. Chris pages, "And basically waiting to get in on the action. Stupid wasyuu. *muttergrumblebitch*" to you. You page, "Our fault for lollygagling and wanting to help earn P-Lian's trust." to Chris. Chris pages, "Lian hrms, and keeps her thoughts to herself." to you. Chris pages, "Mispage." to you. You page-pose, "Aerianne hehs." to Chris. ====== ====== Pattern Defense seems to work fine, though it's hard to tell with no one trying to invade your mind. Kanna hehs a bit. "We may luck out on pattern defense... but hopefully, we won't have to test it." She looks at Beowulf. "So, I guess it's your Paintball idea if you can whip it up fast enough..." Beowulf says, "I could whip up a shadow-molding device in a couple of hours, but that'd be too late to save things. Best to go with the explosive, unless you can think of a better idea." Beowulf says, "Although it's undoubtedly best to find the leadership and wipe it out." ===== ===== You page, "I can't really think of anything besides explosive paintballs and Whalekiller bolts, yes? *wl*" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "You really need an army to make a big difference here, or else to risk trying to kill the whole army yourselves...which you don't think you're THAT good :)" to you. You page, "heh. I'm not a Benedict or Loewen or Suzuka, no. :)" to Akemi. ===== ===== Beowulf OOCly blehs as ideas cross in the stream. :p ===== ===== Beowulf quickly analyzes the battle to see if he can find the leadership. Kanna says, "We -reallly- need a full army to make a big difference here, or risk ourselves in trying to kill it... which, as l33t as we might be... we're not -that- l33t." Kanna blinks. "Man, sis -is- rubbing off on me." ===== ===== The_Prof pages, "Argh. Trying to ask John what I can make out of the situation, what chance we have, not getting much. I suppose we'd better move on. ;_;" to you. You page, "That's what I figured, unless we tried to be suicidal, or at least a token attempt at sniping... but there's a helluva lot more of them than us, and there's prolly a good slew of Logrus-users in there too." to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "" to you. ====== ====== Kanna hrms, and checks wasyuu's device again, to see if it's capable of helping them get up to Hellride speeds, or if they'll have to ride and test. You can get up to hellride speeds with it, though it may be rough going. Beowulf sighs and gives up. "I can't make anything out down there. I suppose we'll have to move on." Beowulf nods. "Let's get moving, then." Kanna sighs, and mutters a prayer under her breath. "Damnit. As much as I -want- to help..." She nods. "Sheila, shift back to your hybrid form, we can use your ears while we ride." ===== ===== Kanna OOCly says, "Time to get a move on to the Lian..." ===== ===== Beowulf sets to working on a shadow-molding device while they ride, if he can do it without losing too much concentration on the ride. How fast are you going to ride? You can't really safely conjure and try to ride a not very friendly horse at the same time. ===== ===== Beowulf OOCly nods. Kanna OOCly says, "shift from normal speeds to Hellride to see if the horses and device can hack it." Kanna OOCly says, "And as usual, watching out for threats, etc." ===== ===== You shift to high speed. fortunately, these shadows aren't very dangerous. After about three hours, you ride off a trail onto a major road. Wasyuu, Lian, and some tall skinny, dark-haired girl are riding down the road on a tank. Kanna -blinks-, and has them slow down. "Oyyyyyyyy!!" ===== ===== Beowulf asks, "OOC The girl look familiar?" Beowulf asks, "OOC Er, resemble anyone we know?" ==== ==== Kanna makes sure that shadowshifting has stopped with them reaching their 'destination' first by trying a bit more use of the device to get to Lian (our Lian) ==== ==== Kanna OOCly says, "(or for that matter, Our Lian's Mind. :)" Loewen says, "OOC she's not familiar to you." ===== ===== The device seems disinclined to ride you off anywhere else. Wasyuu looks you all up and down, then sees P-Lian and purses her lips. "And you all are?" she asks. Beowulf bows. "Beowulf Kohl, of Amber." Kanna says, "I am Princess Kanna of Ember, and this is Sheila of the Retreat Northern Edge Guard of Jade." She bows. Lian stops the tank and waves. Kanna says, "And this is... Princess Lian of Paris in Lian of Amber's body, which is hard to explain..." She looks sheepish. Kanna waits to see what P-Lian's reaction is gonna be to all this. P-Lian says, "It's me, mother, stuck in this cast-off body." Lian mutters something under her breath. Wasyuu says, "Hmm, interesting. Different, but apparently viable Pattern Imprints." Kanna rolls her eyes, distracting herself by looking at Lian every so often, to see how -she- seems to be doing. She continues, "It would appear, Lian in the body of my daughter, that your story of being from another universe, has some concrete evidence to it." Lian seems fairly tense, as if keeping herself under tight control. "Told you so." Beowulf nods. "So this universe's Lian is also the daughter of Wasyuu?" Lian points at the woman. "Queen Wasyuu, Bey." Wasyuu says, "Yes. I am the Queen of Paris, wife to King Gideon. I understand from your Lian that my counterpart in your world is responsible for this." Beowulf bows deeply. "Your majesty." Kanna mentally logs this, and bows deeply as well. "A pleasure to meet you, your majesty. The Kingdom of Ember sends its welcome, despite the oddness of our arrival." Beowulf nods. "Your counterpart has a love and a flair for experimentation. Her Gideon was from another universe, and had to return home, so she looked for a safer way to cross universes." Wasyuu nods. "I take it she's improved the process, since you appear to be here in your own flesh." Kanna says, "We are not certain what caused the error in the first place... we -were- able to reverse the process to return Thropan of Jade and your own Thropan to their proper bodies... but not Lian's, for some reason." Beowulf chuckles a bit. "Yes. After she figured out what went wrong, and sent the mind of her companion back here." Lian asks, "Thropan's back home, safe?" Beowulf nods. "Safe and sound." Kanna says, "Yes, he is. A bit beat up, but all right. The rest of the Edge Guard's with him, save for Sheila, who's right here." Kanna quirks a slight grin. Shiela nods. "Yes, he's home safe. When Wasyuu tried to pull your minds back, she got his, but not yours." Lian smiles slightly. "Good ... " She looks at Other-Lian. "Well, you -did- bring me my body, at least." Beowulf looks to see how P-Lian's taking this. Kanna says, "Some sort of blockage or natural effect, I suppose... I tried trumping -you- when we got here a few hours ago, but the connection crashed before anything solid could happen. Weird." P-Lian says, "And you kept mine intact, I see, for which I'm glad." Kanna scratches her cheek, thoughtful. Wasyuu says, "Lian was probably still in one of our secure cells at the time." Kanna says, "Ah." Beowulf's eyebrows climb a bit. "I see." Lian grimaces and points at Wasyuu again. "That was her. She crashed the connection." P-Lian sighs. "I'm sorry I called you all Chaosian spies. I didn't think it was possible for other universes to exist, which made this whole story seem rather implausible to me." Kanna nods slightly at that. "I take it the war between Paris and Chaos does not go well, then." She mms, quietly. Beowulf nods to P-Lian. "I'm sorry we had to restrain you. I'm glad no one got seriously hurt." Kanna chuckles a bit, softly. "It's all right. We're new at this too, really... and every attempt to transit the universes seems to go differently." Wasyuu says, "We are having the worst of it while we consolidate our forces, yes. We counted a little too much on internal divisions in Chaos keeping them harmless forever." Beowulf hmmms. "The Chaosians have united here, then?" Lian wanders over to examine her other self. Lian says, "You know, Lian ... don't take this personally, your body is quite nice, and your full Pattern imprint is really nifty, but I'd like my original body back." Kanna watches Lian and P-Lian with a tangental eye. "So many different variations on the same theme, yet in the end, people are people, eh, Bey?" Beowulf nods. "Our Wasyuu said it should be fairly simple for someone with strong magical skills to swap you back." P-Lian says, "Well, I'd like my body back too." Wasyuu says, "Briar, if you will..." Lian murmurs, "Do me a favor and don't mention her for a while, will you, Bey?" Briar comes over and puts a hand on each of you's head, then starts casting a spell. Beowulf grins. "People are people, yes." He blinks. "I wonder what our analogues are like... but perhaps best not to." ===== ===== Beowulf nods to Lian and gives her a quick hug. Beowulf OOCly lags and retcons the hug until after they're back in the right places. :p ===== ===== Kanna mmms quietly, and moves over to watch. "They may not exist in this universe, Beowulf. If indeed it's defined by the kingship of Gideon, who was the descendant of a subordinate Primal Pattern within the scope of another Amber's Primal Pattern..." Kanna waits for the transfer to complete. Wasyuu says, "I don't remember ever having seen either of you two before, though I've seen Sheila in Jade." Kanna nods. "A different cosmological and geneological setup, then." The spell goes on for a while, and then lots of swirly colors fill the air for a while. Lian and P-Lian feel like steel wool is being taken to their brains. Kanna quirks a slight smile, watching the nifty sfx. "I'd draw diagrams, but we'd be here all day, and I hardly have a full understanding of the particulars, anyway. Mostly from my mother's stories and studies." Beowulf nods to Kanna. "So many things the same, so many differences..." He turns to Queen Wasyuu. "I'm not terribly surprised at me, since I'm the son of the youngest member of the second generation of Amber; your mother was in the middle of the family, though." Kanna says, "True, but even so, my existance is partially predicated on the existance of a Pattern Knight to spawn me... and from within the Sun, at that." She quirks another smile. "Which isn't exactly a common occurance." Beowulf nods, smiling crookedly. "Yes, that makes sense." Lian waits for the process to finish ... Kanna hrms, and pulls out a sheet of paper, and what the hells... while the spell goes on, she sketches quickly the little mini "Amber/Avalon" diagram of patterns, universes and chaos, her own universe, and some sketches of the patterns to give to Queen Wasyuu. Finally, with a green swirl, Lian finds herself back in her proper body. Kanna says, "At least, this is the -general- theory... ooh, green swirl." Feeling rather beaten up. Kanna hands the paper to Wasyuu, and heads over to the beaten-up Lian. "... you in there all right?" Beowulf looks her over. "Anything I can make for you until you get back into shape?" Lian winces. "Ow. I've felt better." Lian asks, "Lian? Would you please give me that ring on your right hand? The one with the gear pattern?" Kanna mrfs at that, embarrassed. "Sorry 'bout that... though it was Bey and Tirga and Gar who had to subdue Princess Lian in your body..." P-Lian says, "You all fight rather impressively." She takes off the ring and hands it to you. Kanna says, "We've had to do a lot of that of late." She quirks a smile. Lian puts the ring on and triggers one of the healing spells in it. Kanna looks like she really wants to hug Lian right now, but wants to see if she won't bruise her muchly in doing so. Beowulf shrugs. "We try. And you must have had fun playing with that toy..." He looks over to their Lian. "She had the gun that fired the black beams that blew things up really good." Beowulf smiles a bit at the ring. "Got a chance to play around while you were here?" Lian stretches, then blinks and stops in mid-motion. "She got -that- gun? Owwie." She nods, "I built a few things when I made my tank army." Kanna says, "So did the other Thropan... Gar took it on the chest, but pulled through just fine..." Kanna then -hugs- Lian, close. Beowulf smiles crookedly at P-Lian. "She seemed to have a lot of fun using it, too." Lian smiles and hugs Kanna back, finally relaxing. "I'm glad you came for me ... " P-Lian says, "She had an impressive array of weaponry. Quite enjoyable to use, too." Kanna murmurs, "...pyricorn, i'm glad you're still alive, i feared the worst when i heard the news...", running a hand through Lian's hair. Beowulf puts a hand on Lian's shoulder. "Hey, what else could we do?" ===== ===== The_Prof pages, "Ack. Bad timing. :p" to you and Chris. You page, "'sokay, *wl*" to Chris and The_Prof. ===== ===== Kanna countinues quietly, "...it's been a helluva few days, but here's not the best place to talk 'bout 'em." Beowulf nods. "Yah. Home. Home is good." Lian gives Bey a quick smile, then hugs Kanna close again. "You know I'm tough ... I don't die easily." She nods, "We can talk when we get home ... that is, if mom didn't screw up with -that- part of the process." She sounds slightly bitter. Kanna finally lets go of Lian, reluctantly. ====== ====== In a page-pose to you, Chris snickers. You page, "All in good time, all in good time... :)" to Chris. Chris pages, "Oh, might want to swap two lines in the log, so Kanna lets go after Lian's pose. :)" to you. You page, "of course. :)" to Chris. ===== ===== Kanna says, "... I should hope not, the Knife's still down with anno-sama, and I don't feel up to the cave..." She nods, and stands up. "My apologies, Queen Wasyuu, but we must depart now. I hope that the strife between your lands and those of Chaos are settled soon, before more dire crisises can upset the balances further." Kanna says, "My apologies, Princess Lian, for our treatment of yourself and Thropan earlier... it's been a long series of days, and they only look to get longer." She quirks a smile again. Beowulf bows as well. "We've got a few too many things on our plate back home, I'm afraid, and trying to prepare for our entire universe to be invaded by the Land of the Dead." Wasyuu says, "Good luck on your trip home." She turns to Lian. "My apologies for imprisoning you. I've already had Chaosian infiltrators kill one of my children; I was not inclined to take further chances." Lian nods, "I understand ... good luck, not-quite-mom." Beowulf bows his head. "I can understand." Kanna nods. "Perfectly understandable." She offers her free hand to Lian, Bey, and Sheila. P-Lian says, "Tell your mother she needs to not use genetic keys for security on her armory." Lian says, "I'll tell her ... someday." Kanna mmms quietly at that, but says nothing. Beowulf smiles a bit at P-Lian. "A good idea." He gives Lian a quick hug. "...you gonna be all right?" Kanna pulls out the remote, considering it thoughtfully. Beowulf says, "We ready?" He takes Kanna's hand. Lian smiles and hugs Bey back. "I will be, now." To Kanna, "One moment, please." She walks over to the tank and pats its side. "Oy, Patton." She points to P-Lian, "This is your new commander. Tell the others please." Kanna quirks a slight smile at the handoff of command. . o O (Those chaosians are gonna be in for a shock....) Patton acknowledges the command. Beowulf grins at Lian. "Set up your own fleet of Bolos?" Lian grins at P-Lian. "The rest of the company should be waiting at Lorraine ... use them for great justice." Kanna says, "Ohhhhh dear." She grins. Lian says, "I had to stop the Chaosian hordes there -somehow-, Bey." Beowulf looks sheepish. "Sounds like you managed to be a bit more effective than we were." Kanna says, "Well, -next- time I'll carry the Porta-Tanks, bey." Lian says, "I had a functional Pattern imprint to work with, Bey ... it was fairly easy to create a shadow pocket to use as a workshop." Beowulf says, "Hey, I had War Zepplin Ajax in storage... unfortunately, the bag doesn't reach across universes." Beowulf says, "Ahhh. That made things a *lot* easier." He smiles. Lian nods, "Quite a difference compared to my normal imprint ... " Kanna hehs at that. "Annnyway. Au Revouir." She waves to Wasyuu and P-Lian and Briar, making sure our trans-universal group gets back together. Beowulf says, "I can imagine. Well, we may figure out a way to get you one one of these days..." Kanna says, "Pyricorn light the way to a better tomorrow, all of you." She smiles slightly. Lian heads over to Briar and gives her a quick hug. "Take care ... I hope you won't have to see more battlefields, but if you do, be careful." She then nods to Kanna, "I'm ready to go." Beowulf says, "May you bring your people safety and growth." He bows to Queen Wasyuu. Beowulf nods to Kanna. "I'm ready." Kanna nods, and takes the other's hands once all the nice parting statements get said. She checks to make sure sheila's ready, too. You all get together and activate the device. Then there's a purple FWAKOOM, and you find yourself back on the treadmill. Beowulf looks around the room. "Well. We're here." Kanna yorghs. Lian says, "... I hope. IF this is yet another universe, mom will die." Wasyuu says, "Excellent. You're all back without a hitch, thankfully." Kanna patternsighs, checks her watch, etc, to see that we're indeed -in- the same environment. ===== ===== Kanna OOCly says, "(that we left, that is.)" Kanna OOCly says, "And what time/day be we, now? *wl*" ===== ===== So far as you can tell, you're back where you left from. It's now afternoon of Day 68. ===== ===== Beowulf OOCly nods, and keeps an eye out for Lian in case she tries to throttle Wasyuu. ^_^ ===== ===== Kanna says, "Been enough near-death lately, wanna avoid." She lets out a long, releived breath. Beowulf smiles. "Well, at least this proved relatively uneventful as far as rescues go. And at least no Chaosian assassins were after us." Wasyuu says, "Well, I see my basic principle is sound, but some of the details need work. Is everyone alright? Any of you need medical attention?" Kanna looks to the rest of the Edge Guard, and then over at Bey and Lian. "You guys up for a trip to the Dragon's Jaw Inn? Cross-dimensional travel leaves you with a desire for munchies." Lian slides down the treadmill. "No, but some explosives to finish this ... thing ... off, mom." Thropan says, "I could go for that." Wasyuu sighs. "I'm sorry, Lian. I didn't think it would malfunction like that." Beowulf smiles. "What the heck, could be fun. Lead o --" He pauses, and looks over at Lian and Wasyuu. Kanna nods slightly, holding up a hand to Beowulf to watch the confrontation between Lian and Wasyuu, ready for any crisis-managemet. Lian shrugs, "So much for your brilliant mind, mom." She nods to Kanna, "Let's go. I need a drink or fifteen." Kanna nods, and pulls out of of her trumps of Jade after she gets Merehallow back from Onoli. "Link hands, ladies and gents..." Wasyuu just sighs. Beowulf nods, and gives Wasyuu a 'hope-things-settle-down' look. "Ready when you are." Lian gets up and walks over to the others. ===== ===== You page, "And is Gaby Manifestation active again?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Yes." to you. ===== ===== The Edge Guard all link hands to trump with you. Kanna grabs free hands, yadda yaddah, concentrates, and steps them through from Wasyuu's lab to the walkway outside the Dragon's Jaw Inn. Kerblink, you're there. It should be noted that the Dragon's Jaw Inn is a circular building built around the trunk of a tree... several hundred feet up. Think Endor design principles, but more modern and human scaled. Beowulf says, "We going to be on fasttime here, or normal?" he whispers to Kanna and Lian. Then he does a double-take as he sees the surroundings. "...my, my." Kanna smiles, and lets go. "Beowulf... welcome to Jade. This is the city of Seer's Hamlet in the Seer's Desert." Lian smiles. "It's good to be back here ... " Kanna concentrates slightly, and uses the pattern to shift things to UberSuperFastTime. Beowulf's eyes widen in interest. "Ahhh, so." He looks inquiringly at Kanna, then checks his watch. "Thank you." Kanna says, "They believe in coexisiting with the environment a lot, Bey..." she grins. "The area outside here only gets 6 inches of rain every five years or so." This seems to be a contradiction in terms, as they're currently standing in the middle of a forest-city. Kanna says, "Anyway. Drinks on me." Beowulf winces. "Oh, joy." He looks up at the tree, and up and UP. "Must have deep roots." Kanna leads the way to the entrance of the Dragon's Jaw Inn, which... looks like a giant carved dragons head, its mouth wide open. Kanna says, "Oh, we're in a shadow-pocket... and the outside has -very- hardy grasses." Lian says, "I hope our usual booth is free ..." Kanna says, "Should be..." Beowulf nods in interest. "Well, well. I kept hearing about this wonderful place you found..." He grins a bit. Beowulf says, "...and I could definitely use a drink about now." He sighs, and seems to lose two or three levels of tension that hadn't seemed to be there before. Kanna chuckles. "Oh, we're quite proud of it..." She holds the door for the rest... it seems to be a pretty cosmopolitan medival environment with a mix of fantasy species types, though mostly weighted on the human/elven/dwarf end. ===== ===== The_Prof pages, "...sigh. ;_;" to you. Kanna says, "And if you don't like it -here-, there's always Earth-Realm. Late 20th early 21st century culture, but more ancient ruins and hidden cultures than you can shake a treasure map at." Lian goes inside, waving to the occasional aquaintance from her Jade years, and heads over to their booth. Beowulf grins at that. "I see. Ancient ruins, hmmm... wonder how it compares to Lucas?" Beowulf mutters to himself, "...turns out to be like that, maybe could set up some sort of exchange program..." Kanna chuckles. "You'd have to ask Gina Diggers 'bout that... she keeps track of them more than I do. Some of the competition's ruthless, but the rest are pretty decent." Kanna heads over as well, and waves down a serving girl, and starts placing orders. Beowulf looks at the menu. "Um. Perhaps you'd better order for me." Beowulf grins. "Any worse than Kuonji?" Kanna chuckles, and places orders. "Hey, you're good with Languages, I'm sure you'll pick up Ribbon soon enough..." She hrms. Kanna says, "Some worse... some better... but none out to destroy the universes or anything or pledged to evil powers." Lian gets comfortable on the bench and nods. "I can give you my books on it if you want, Bey." Kanna sits next to Lian, opposite whatever side Thropan sits next to Lian. Beowulf nods, leaning back and relaxing a bit more. "I'd be interested... have this mess with Vice and Mature to take care of first, though." Lian asks, "Who is Vice, who is Mature, and what mess would that be?" Kanna mmmms. "So, what -was- up with that, anyway?" She hrms. "Oh, super-short form, Lian... we managed to spank the serpent's horn, and Daffyl's reedeemed. GReat Assembly's still today, unless we've missed it. And sis and the Logrus had a Steel Cage Grudge Match which... well, I need to talk about it with her, but I'm still trying to figure out what to -say-." She sighs. Lian asks, "It went that badly?" Beowulf says, "Let's see... Vice and Mature are a pair of Chaosian assassins, Vice being the fighter with Logrus skills, Mature a powerful spellcaster." Kanna mms, and lets bey have the floor for the time being, waiting for drinks and food to arrive. Beowulf groans at the mention of the Cage Match. "Ay. That was very, very nasty." Lian says, "I don't wanna hear about it right now, then." Kanna nodnods. "Bey, you continue talking and stuff." Beowulf turns to Kanna. "Oh, and I did go to try and cheer up the Logrus afterwards... not sure if I helped or hurt." He sighs. Lian says, "They didn't succeed though, I hope." Beowulf says, "They tried to take me out when I walked over to House Alars by myself... Mature is a *very* nasty magus, she managed to negate/dispell just about all my things, including the enhancements I put into Morkeleb." Beowulf shakes his head. "No, they managed to drive the pair off." Lian nods, "Go on, Bey ... " ===== ===== Damasq says, "OOC: Mature wasn't along, actually." Beowulf says, "OOC Ahhh." Damasq says, "OOC: It was Vice, Yog, and Mario the Pathetic." ===== ===== Kanna listens, this having been the first time things have been explained to her as well. She smiles as drinks are delivered, and then she passes them around to those who want it. Nice refreshing ales and wines in carafes, as well as spring water (chilled). Lian gets ale. Unusual for her, as she usually prefers non-alcoholic drinks. Kanna mmms at that quietly, internally, and glances at Thropan. She takes some wine for herself, but then again, her tolerance is higher. Beowulf sips at a spring water. "Anyway. I managed to teleport Mature away from her spell rack for long enough to knock Vice out and stuff her into the slow-timed bag. She got back fast enough that I decided to cut my losses and teleport out, since my psychic barrier was down." He looks over at Kanna. "I don't know if they've got enough intelligence on you to know to do the same thing, but you might want to be careful." Kanna considers. "If they were getting their information from Yog... wasn't he a Blood Taylor? Though then again, your ring was made after the first was killed, anyway, which means they'd have a seperate intelligence network. I will." Thropan frowns a bit, and glances over at Lian. Kanna asks, "So Mature's still out there, but we've got Vice now?" Beowulf nods. "They had *very* good intelligence. Mature knew about Aeris, and was able to destroy her manifestation pretty easily." Kanna frowns at that. Beowulf nods. "We have Vice. I got zapped teleporting out and lost the bag, got it back, got Jacqui, Thoric and Mutsumi's help fighting off another mental attack, then we went in the bag and chased Vice down. Mature apparently managed to speed it back up for a bit while she had it." Lian sips her ale and hrms. "Did you find out where they got that intelligence?" Kanna says, "Not that sis could help me in Chaos anyway... but if they try outside the Courts... welll..." She shrugs, and sips wine. Beowulf says, "Not yet. I'm guessing it was sources Yog had." Lian nods. Beowulf says, "So. Anyway. Jacqui was able to mind-read and reprogram Vice, we were going to have Lady Yumi do a more thorough job of reading/reprogramming her the next day, and use her to go after Mature. Then you called in the morning, and we had a little side trip." He smiles at Lian, no bad feelings. "Not that this was a problem." The first course comes... slices of meat, cheese, and warm bread rolls, as well as butter. Kanna hehs. "Well, hey, it's what needed to be done, eh?" Lian says, "I'm glad you did go on that little side trip ... people over there were -paranoid-. Not that they didn't have good reasions, but still." Beowulf asks, "Hey, couldn't leave you in trouble over there, yes? Or let Other-You wreck the equipment to get you back?" Kanna slices a roll and butters it. "Wartime tends to do that... I'm sometimes surprised we're not -more- paranoid as it is." She munches her buttered roll, savoring it. "Anyway... as for us... Oh, congrats on clearing out the Red Death from Arden.. heard it from Shinobu Major, and spread the news around." Beowulf says, "Red Death? You cleaned it out?" He smiles at Lian. "Good show." Kanna blinks. "Thought I told you that already, bey..." She shakes her head. "Man, I must be REALLY frazzled." Lian nods. "That at least went relatively well, if you ignore the little problem with the hole I accidentally caused. Or the chaosians who tried to stop us. Or Dolphin trying to kill us from afar." Kanna leans back against the headboard of the booth seat. "... pyricorn and serpent i need a vaaaaaCAAAAAtiiiiioooonnnn...." Beowulf builds a nice meat sandwich and starts munching. "You may well have. With everything going on the last couple of days, I'm pretty frazzled." Kanna says, "And it's only due to get more frazzled. I suppose it's my turn now to explain -why- we're frazzled?" She quirks a smile. Beowulf smiles ruefully at Lian. "At least you got the job done." Lian leans over to give Kanna a quick hug. "We all could use a vacation, I think." Kanna hugs back. Given she's sitting next to Lian, this is not difficult. "Yeah. Wether we can -take- one is another matter, but..." She shakes her head, making another sandwich while waiting for the main course to arrive. Beowulf says, "Don't I know it. I suspect Lily will do Horrible Nasty Things to me if I try to get us involved in anything else before we rest. Hopefully she'll understand about Mature, personal threats are never something safe to leave lying around." Lian says, "I fear this here now is as close to one as we're likely to get for the next few days ..." Beowulf sighs and slumps down in his seat a bit more. Kanna mmms, and nods. "Well, there's always around here... Julia-sensei would be easy to convince to let you use the Armsmaster's palace... and I've got a place up in the hills to the north." Lian says, "Plus, we're already here." Lian says, "And Jade is a good place for a vacation, really." Beowulf smiles. "I kinda guessed that, from your comments." Thropan nods. "Many interesting places to see and things to do." Kanna says, "Anyway." She polishes off her sandwich, and washes it down with wine. She blushes slightly. "True, true... just wish I could shanghei Ruka, but he's job-dedicated, bless his heart. Shalomar's in a building orgy from having to recover from having the southern fleet get crushed. Lian hms and joins in the general sandwich making. "Okay ... what did I miss?" Kanna reaches over, and pats Bey on the shoulder. Kanna says, "Okay. Basically, Daffyl had been a busy little snakey. Not only had his group kidnapped Uncle Saionji, but Michelle, Davros, and Atsuko too. And his home shadow was fortressed up to the nines." Kanna says, "But... we had a Cunning Plan. Basically, to sneak in and free the hostages while other groups, both from Amber and Chaos, would assault one of the entrance ways, and Jacqui and Moonshade and Mitsune would wait with another group with Daffyl's Eye and Justice as bait to draw out the Horn for Nurgal and Helgram to squash 'em." Kanna says, "Actually, it was Lord Loewen's Cunning Plan, but I digress." Kanna smiles as the main meal is delivered... large roasted drumsticks, meat pot pies, salads, and loaves of garlic bread. A chilled pasta side dish is also brought over. Beowulf munches on a slice of garlic bread as he listens. Lian takes some of the garlic bread to munch on and leans against Thropan, watching and listening as she eats. Thropan puts an arm around Lian's shoulders and eats with his other hand. Kanna grabs a drumstick, gnaws into it, and then continues after swallowing. "So anyway, Loewen, Yumi, Bey, Me, Moriya, Thoric, Motoko, and Usui... Lowen's trump guy... snuck in to the central compound while the rest of Serpent's Horn was distracted. We managed to subdue the guards without alerting others, and the folks with Magic, Logrus, and Spikards undid the wards on the prisoners." She winces a bit, and continues. "There were some nasty ones there, and they had more prisoners... and as something went suddenly fubar among all this, Motoko had to use the Eye to break the last wards and to... -defuse- the Primal Chaos bombs that were in all the prisoners before we teleported out." Lian smiles and covers his hand with her free one. Lian winces. "They put bombs into their prisoners? Ow ... " Beowulf growls slightly, remembering that and how helpless he felt. Kanna looks over at Lian and Thropan, smiling faintly, before taking another bite and continuing her story. "We got back to Gainax with the prisoners... which included Robert Wapole, our Illustrious Mayor of all people... and then went back to help Jacqui." She sighs, and nods. Beowulf says, "Oh, yes, don't forget Jacqui. As we had a sudden warning through Motoko's link to Daffyl's Eye... that Kenshin had found them and was on the warpath. Literally." Kanna says, "As Jaqui and Moonshade were up shit creek without a paddle, given Kenshin had gotten his hands on Merehallow -and- Justice... if we hadn't gotten there when we did...." She shakes her head. Beowulf says, "We were just barely in time." He shudders. "Barely." Lian shakes her head. "How bad was it?" Beowulf says, "**VERY**." Kanna says, "Thank the Pyricorn and Serpent we -did-, though. They were both suffering extreme Patternflame wounds. Thoric, Loewen and Moriya went to help Moonshade, though Loewen got drawn off by Soujiro (Loewen's number two), and the rest of us helped where we could." Beowulf says, "Moonshade lost an arm, Jacqui was gut-stabbed." Kanna says, "I worked on snuffing the flames on Jacqui after clearing a path for the others with Beryllina... the False Ewoyn was there, but she didn't get to do much thanks to being flung to the evil Davros, and it's kinda a mix from there." Lian says, "Part of me wishes I could have been there to help ... another part is glad I wasn't there, because I'd probably have ended up dis-armed again, at best." Beowulf says, "And then Thoric..." He shakes his head in awe. "He took Kenshin in a head-on charge, took a slash or two but kept right on going... Jacqui held Kenshin down with magical tentacles, and Thoric broke his back." Kanna says, "Its was... it was just plain nasty, Lian. Both Thoric and Moriya got sliced up, but Thoric -kept going- against Kenshin." Kanna nods. "He is no coward. Anyone who says otherwise, I shall smack them one." Beowulf says, "Rose duel, if they don't take it back." Kanna says, "And then he got teleported out of the way before Soujiro could try and run him through." Kanna scratches her cheek. "-Meanwhile-, Sis and Morgenstern were trying to wrestle Daffy... and then Motoko summoned the -real- Serpent." Lian smiles slightly. "Thoric's a good boy. Even if he sometimes doesn't believe it." Kanna says, "And then restored Daffy's eye to him, healing him, as we watched." Her voice has a still-lingering trace of Awe to it. Kanna says, "The battlefield was healed by his tears, he spoke to us, and then flew off to join the Phoenix in guarding the borders of the world." Beowulf shakes his head, a bit of wonder still in his eyes. Kanna says, "Oh, and the Serpent of Fire kissed sis on the forehead." She giggles a bit. "Man, I still gotta paint that." Kanna says, "Gotta paint a lot of things, actually." Lian says, "I want to see them all, Kanna." Kanna says, "Believe me, you will." She blushes slightly, and smiles. "Anyway... I have Merhallow now. Soujiro's been tasked to wander in the service of the Serpent until he's atoned. Evil Davros... he became ashes when the Serpent in his fire aspect came out of his spikard. And Eowyn..." she takes a deep breath. Kanna says, "Well, we prevented her from escaping, she got dumped into Ember's prisons, and Mom and some others went to talk with her after she got her legs healed... I don't think regrown, though." She looks down at her plate, and then up again. "She's a blood creature. But made from the -original- Eowyn's blood." Lian arches an eyebrow. "Now that is ... interesting, to say the least." Beowulf raises his eyebrows. "Well." Kanna refills her wineglass, and drinks from it. "We don't know who did it... whoever it was had to have gotten to the body when it was still fresh, and had the skills to remake her. So our best theory is Sakura as the perennial boogiewoman." Kanna says, "But, she has a -full- Pattern Imprint. She's walked Tir'na'nog multiple times." Beowulf says, "...oh, lovely." Kanna says, "The going theory is that she was raised in a false amber to get the proper memories." Lian says, "I wish I could get my hands on some of Sakura's genetic material ... won't happen, though." Kanna says, "Well... -mostly- proper." Kanna says, "As -this- Eowyn believes that Uncle Drake is the Sole Source of Evil(tm) in the Universe. She believes the rest of my aunts and grandmom were killed by him in some plot to get him relegitimized once the House of Harad wiped out." Kanna says, "She believes it -utterly-. And there's no signs of mental tampering, not with multiple patternwalks to wipe them out." Lian says, "She'll need a lot of nice, long talks, then." Kanna says, "When mom went to talk to her, she tried to convince her to break free of Uncle Drake's brainswashing and ally against him." She sighs, and nods. "A lot of them, yes." Kanna drinks more of her wine. Lian says, "If the universe still exists after the day of the dead, I'd like to talk to her some time then." Kanna says, "Mom HOPES to get through to her... and I do too. She's probably got more claim to being 'Eowyn' now than my original aunt was. She's certainly lived long enough, and she's as close as it gets." Lian says, "Might be able to get a bit closer ..." Beowulf huh's. "Damn... been brainwashed from here to... well, someplace very far away and back." Kanna looks at Bey and Lian. "Oh, she apparently had been a member of Serpent's Horn for a -long- time.. and she was the same Eowyn that led the revolt in Harad 40 years ago. Annadil provided the gunpowder formula." Beowulf boggles at how all the traditional standards for great distance have been worn away in the last few weeks. Kanna reaches over, and pats Bey on the shoulder again. "Again, not brainwashing, just a really sucky setup for her. I -still- wonder who could have arranged this, but Ewoyn has no memory of it. She has -childhood- memories, she doesn't remember being created. Everything's totally experiential." Lian says, "Someone put a lot of work into that, then." Beowulf says, "A lot a lot." Kanna says, "Yes. It's unsettling. Which is why I keep thinking back to Sakura, as..." She hrms, wracking her brain a bit for dates. ".. first ember's destruction was 'round 500-600 AY, which was the squid that made Annadil go bonkers... which was -before- Haruka came into the family... -maybe- Annadil could have had a hand in it, but it was still damn early." Kanna says, "As it's more certain he had his finger in Hiko's birth, etc." She shakes her head. "But ayway, it's not like we can ask either numinary about it..." Kanna ohs. "Oh yeah. Motoko managed to rescue Anthy, King Dios, and Baby Nanami from the Land of the Dead." Beowulf says, "True enough." He hmmms. "Though if Annadil's involved, he might have something on it in his journals." Kanna says, "Perhaps. Couldn't hurt to check to see if we can eliminate that angle. I'm still inclined towards Sakura, as she had a closer mad-on." Lian blinks. "Excuse me ... King dios and Baby Nanami?" Beowulf nods. "Yes. From the World of the Dead." Beowulf grins at Kanna. "But you said that." Kanna nods. "Should've taken the chance to see the two when I was last in Gainax, but Great-Aunt Anthy looked to be doing all right, if but somewhat depressed 'bout the state of that world." She shakes her head. "... no dreamers... no -dreams-..." She shudders slightly, and knocks back her wine. Kanna says, "Motoko used the Eye before we made the final assault, and was able to bring them back, but nearly got torched... by a dark version of the Phoenix." Beowulf says, "Basically, Motoko mentioned what we'd figured out about Grandma Anthy going to the World of the Dead, to Great-Grandfather. And he and Motoko linked up, using the power of Daffyl's Eye, to pull her, the uncorrupted King Dios, and the sacrificial baby Nanami back to our universe." Lian listens quietly. Kanna lets Beowulf tell the rest of the story, as he has more details than she does. Beowulf says, "Basically, Motoko and great-grandfather pulled off a miracle." He shudders a bit as he remembers what he saw of Motoko after the fact. "Got burnt fairly badly when the corrupted Phoenix attacked, she overstrained herself with the Eye... but they got the three of them out safely." Lian nods slowly. "Things are getting more complicated ... I wonder what role the dark Phoenix will play at the Day of the Dead." Beowulf says, "It seemed to be in much the same role as our Phoenix is, here -- guardian of the boundaries of the Universe. I suspect it would mainly play a role if we tried invading *them*, though I could be wrong." Kanna says, "Dunno. At least -we- have Daffyl helping to guard our borders now." Lian says, "More guardians is never a bad idea." Beowulf says, "Never a bad idea." He smiles. Kanna chuckles a bit at that. "And -I- need to get a particular piece of silverware to one of our Guardians pretty damn soon, if I can manage it." She pats the hilt of Merehallow. Lian says, "Yes, you should ... we're running out of time." Beowulf smiles. "Yes, that's very high on the priority list." He looks wistful for a moment. Beowulf says, "Fortunately, King Dios was apparently supposed to serve as a sacrifice to help open the way to our universe... so pulling him over here is likely to hurt her chances." Kanna nods. "Still need to get the Phoenix Egg from Uncle Miki... and the Knife back from Anno-sama..." She sighs. "And damn, I -definitely- better go to the Isles. Get more info from Aunt Yui 'bout things about Aunt Juri... but a vacation in fast time is also needed, lest I become frazzled." Lian says, "Might make it more difficult, but not impossible. Expect the worst and prepare for it, Bey. That way, all surprises will be good ones." Kanna says, "And now...." She raps a little drumroll on the table's edge. "... the REASON Beowulf and I are Frazzled." Beowulf says, "Oh, yes. Still need to cover all the bases, Lian." Kanna refills her wineglass, and eats a candied mint that some serving girl delivered during all this. "Anyway. The first time I was down in Gainax, as it turned out, I had my manifestation on. Moonshade and I got to talking about sisters, sis chimed in, and after a while the Logrus showed up and ordered her to get out. After it insulted her choice in early dates, sis challenged it to a steel cage grudge match at Yig." Lian facepalms. "Of all the stupid ... I read in dad's diary about the two of them not getting along, but I'd have thought that Gaby at least would have grown up a bit since back then." Kanna says, "Fast forward several days, after the serpent's horn thing, withe various folks getting more frazzled and concerned about the match, though mom and Anno were pretty copacetic as long as they kept it, to, you know, -wrestling-. I tried to talk her out of it, and I admit I did a piss-poor job of it." She sighs. Beowulf asks, "Don't forget your sister *deciding to manifest in the house of the Logrus*, when... didn't you ask her *not* to manifest?" Kanna nods. "Mentally, and vocally saying it wasn't a good idea, yes. And I'd like to think my panicked thoughts when the Logrus melted through the walls would have been a clue..." She sighs. "But what do -I- know?" Beowulf pats her on the shoulder. "Don't blame yourself. It was her hairbrained idea, and she seemed bound and determined to carry it out to the bitter end." Lian asks, ".. does Yig still stand?" Kanna sighs, and slumps. "I think it's an inferiority complex thing on sis's part... I REALLY need to talk to her about it. And yes, it does." Beowulf says, "Thankfully, there was *no* collateral damage. Physically." Kanna says, "For what it's worth, precauitions were made. Great-Grandpa made the cage, and it was sidar-rune lined, and -dad- and -Kuonji- were referreing." Beowulf says, "Emotionally..." He sighs heavily. "Jacqui got friggin' *MANGLED* in absentia." Lian just quietly ...s at all the new revelations. Kanna says, "And they pretty much kept it on the physical level... well..." she winces. Kanna mutters things about the Juri Porn Channel. Beowulf raises his eyebrows. "Oh, yes, Kuonji..." He sighs. Beowulf says, "I went there planning to cheer on the referees, and sat between the two sides with a 'Go Referees' flag. And then Kuonji showed up as the Logrus' referee." He facepalms. Kanna says, "Anyway, the match went on for a while, and flopped back and forth on who had the upper hand... the Logrus looked to be winning... and then sis changed appearance to Jacqui." Kanna says, "Since... I don't know WHEN this happened, but Jacqui was apparently dating the Logrus for a bit." Kanna says, "And apparently before the game, had just broken up with it as well." She shakes her head again. Lian says, "... right." Beowulf nods. "I heard a little about that." He sighs. "They seemed pretty happy about it at the time." Kanna says, "So when sis blasted the Logrus out of the arena with the Jewel of Judgement... well, there's gonna be fallout." Beowulf says, "It was probably the lowest blow I've ever seen, what Gabrielle did." Kanna says, "I suspect sis wouldn't have done what she did if she'd known... but it's not like we have gossip rags on who's dating which primal powers this week." She rolls her eyes. Lian just shakes her head. "Oooooooooooohboy." Beowulf says, "Oh, she knew. She had to have known." Kanna looks over at bey. "Well, -she- might have, but I certainly didn't, and neither did mom." Beowulf asks, "True... but how could she have known that shifting to Jacqui specifically would have an effect on the Logrus?" Kanna says, "Maybe she was extremely desperate at that point." She rubs her throat, absently. "People who get down to the wire do panicked things." Beowulf sighs. "Anyway." Kanna mmms. "Point. Yes. I need to talk with her about it... though not here, probably up at the forge." Beowulf says, "I was about ready to tear many many strips out of her hide." Kanna says, "I was just blasticated and shocked, and went home with mom to try and soak out the stress." Beowulf says, "Especially after I went down later that night and tried to cheer up the Logrus." Lian sighs. Kanna asks, "... how did that go, or dare I ask?" Beowulf stutters nervously. "Eh heh." Kanna says, "..." Beowulf says, "It was *not* happy. I tried to comfort it first, then tried to distract it, and ended up pulling out the Marx Brothers to try and entertain it." Beowulf says, "Which lead to it sending them off into the Cave of Worlds to try and retrieve something called the Commiecorn." Kanna says, "Uh... huh." Kanna says, "Whatever that is." Kanna lets out a long sigh, and pounds her forehead on the table. "...siiiiiiisss...." Lian says, "... Commiecorn." Beowulf says, "I think it's another universe's Pattern avatar. Which, hopefully, shouldn't have much power in this universe." Kanna asks, "And why exactly was it trying to bring this... Commiecorn to our own little shindig?" ===== ===== You page, "(oh, Hunted Rose has been split into two parts, so there'll be an upbeat story before it -really- hits the fan.)" to Chris. Kanna reaches forward, and chugs more wine again. Lian finishes her ale, grimacing slightly at the taste. "Might want to talk to uncle Fuy if he knows something about this Commiecorn." Kanna nods. "On top of everything else, yes." Beowulf says, "Great-grandfather seemed to think that it was no particularly big threat." Kanna says, "mmmm. But even petty annoyances build up." Beowulf says, "And... I wouldn't try to mess with things *too* severely, since it might just inspire the Logrus to pull something nastier." Kanna mutters something darkly about 790, and that if one comes around again, it's 790 season. Kanna then sighs. Lian says, "Two opinions are better than one. I might be heading down to Amber again soon ... going to ask him then." Kanna mmms. "So. Lesse... oh, right." She shakes her head. "Remember that data I gave you?" Beowulf nods. "Didn't have any real chance to look at it, what with Alars and Logrus and everything." Lian asks, "Which data?" Kanna fishes in her pack, and hands the remaining bag of Giant Space Whale Data to Lian. "Got it from Radical Edward... it's his analysis of the Giant Space Whale war machine thingie Darios used when they attacked the Bebop." Beowulf says, "The data on the giant space whale that attacked the Bebop crew, Motoko, and Moriya, and may possibly be ANnadil's battleship." Beowulf says, "Ah, *her*, Kanna." He blinks. "I think." Lian says, "Yay." She puts the package aside for later analysis. Kanna says, "-If- it was the battleship, then they were seriously holding back when attacking the bebop, as it only used Magic, Tech, and Logrus weaponry. It -could- just be a secondhand replica." Kanna says, "But -you- guys can go over the data and compare it with the plans you've got, Bey... oh, and mom wants a copy of those, whenever you can get it to her." Beowulf says, "On the good side... if we can knock out their Abyss weaponry, the latest iteration of the Nautilus stands a good chance taking it on." Beowulf says, "Depending on who's commanding it, of course. Which is where the data could come in very handy." Kanna says, "There was something in there about having a 'heart full of nasty black gunk', which makes me worry about Abyss power in it." Lian asks, "Just in case ... is there a way to contact this Radical Edward?" ===== ===== Mercutio pages, "You could, of course, call in an expert. ^_^" to you. You page, "We're GETTING THERE, Merc, eventually." to Mercutio. You page, "Mom has yet to give me the INSTRUCTIONS on what to do to the brick to toss in the abyss. :)" to Mercutio. Mercutio pages, "Just messing with you. ^_^" to you. ===== ===== Kanna says, "But it looked to just be a power source, from the Bebop logs. I didn't go super-in-detail in analyzing it." Beowulf pulls out the plans. "Hm." He looks at it trying to analyze the power source. Kanna says, "Talk to Aunt Nanami... the bebop folks are working for her now." Lian nods, "Will do, if I have questions." Kanna says, "And I hope to pay them back for this by getting them a line on some Real Metals to rebuild their ship... they're loaning one of drake's." Beowulf nods. "If they need any help with conjured toys, I'd be glad to help." Beowulf points to the power source. "Yes, they do have an Abyss drive... and it can power various Abyssal weapons as well." Kanna says, "Oh, and backtracking on the Abyss end... Gran-aunt Anthy doesn't see a problem with chucking a brick into the Abyss to try and contact Dread Pirate Demetrius to help us with our White Knight recovery and Abyssal Soul problems. Perhaps he could help with this too." She sighs. "Wuuunderful." Kanna says, "Then if this is indeed the same ship, it's a wonder our folks got out at -all-." Beowulf nods. "Just remember that Abyss Pirates and Abyss Monks do *not* get along. At all." Lian says, "They might not know how to operate every system, Kanna." Kanna ahs. "Point, point." Beowulf hmmms. "It's quite possible that it didn't come with instruction books..." He nods to Lian. Beowulf says, "We have a certain advantage in having the complete plans." Lian says, "True. Now we just need the ship that goes with those plans." Kanna nods. "Oh, right. Mom has the Amber Gunpowder formual from Eowyn, now. She thinks the reason why Beryllina couldn't duplicate the bullets is 'cause Real stuff is used in the gunpowder creation, and Beryllina just molds shadow to get extra ammo. Which we may very well need, if the Galcians press on to the bases and they're using cannon." Lian says, "Might want to build a few shadow cannons for the bases then ... they might be able to use them." Beowulf winces again. "Yet another thing to take care of. I gave Saionji a complete monitoring network to catch the Galcians, but he got kidnapped before he could use it to trap them." Kanna says, "And they need a full fresh fleet, too. As Aunt Kozue's still facing the sea peoples." Beowulf nods. "Ay. I feel like I ran out on them, even if we had the sighting of the spikard heading to Mystara come in right then." Kanna looks sheepish. "was gonna -try- and get that today for Ruka, but, well..." She gestures at Lian, blushes, and ruffles her hair. "Priorities, y'know?" Beowulf grins at Lian. "Priorities." Kanna tilts her head, thoughtful. "Though, if we fast-time recoup here a bit, it's still afternoon in Amber, so when we leave, I can go and handle -that-, hopefully in fast-time too." Lian smiles slightly. "Sorry for that, you two." Beowulf nodnods. "And I can't leave Jacqui hanging with Vice and Mature, either." Beowulf asks, "Though after *that's* done..." He hmmms. "Any way I could help you and Ruka out?" Kanna smiles, and leans over to give Lian a kiss on the forehead. "No problems, Lian. Ever." Beowulf nods and smiles. "Can't think of a better way to spend time than helping out family." Kanna thinks. "Well, basically, with one fleet crushed, and another fleet out on maneuvers, we're SORELY lacking on fleet power at the actual bases. Shalomar was in building orgy mode, and Ruka couldn't get away." She sighs. Lian's smile grows a bit. "Say, Kanna ... could you get me a trump of Ruka?" Kanna says, "And we're going to need extra military and defensive power for Amber -anyway-, since we -still- don't know the Day of the Dead specifics." Kanna hehs. "Well, I've got -my- trump of Ruka, but I'm sure I could ask sis to whip you up another. It's not like he's a part of the standard deck." She blushes, but smiles. Beowulf nods and tries to think of noted shipbuilders he could borrow and fasttime. Beowulf smiles. "Or Aeris." Kanna says, "I was planning to crash on his doorstep this evening... and I prolly still -will-, but I think I'm gonna need a breather here as well." She smiles faintly. Kanna says, "As Ruka would know MUCH more on what the bases need than I do." Lian says, "True. And since I might have a few deliveries to make to him ... " She hms. "Definitely have to finish the Borg takeover one of these days. There's a lot of them, and they might come in handy on the Day." ===== ===== You page, "As far as I know, Yui has total control over Isle of Avalon's reality in Juri's absence, yes? I figure Corrine took Kanna there for fast-time vacations, etc, when she was younger." to Akemi. Akemi pages, "As far as you know." to you. Kanna nods. "This... is true, yes." She yawns again, and blushes. Lian smiles at Kanna, "You might want to use some of that time for a nap. Your bluehaired wonder would be disappointed if you fell asleep halfway through." ====== ====== Kanna OOCly notes that he as a character is probably starting to feel somewhat tanked out, and I as a player should be bailing earlier, but if Bey wants to bring Lily, she can get them all to a nice private place to crash. *wg* Loewen says, "OOC righto." ===== ===== The_Prof pages, "Hmmm. If you folks want to play out vacation while we're here... well, we'd need to get Ruka cleared up to bring him through." to you and Chris. In a page-pose to you, Akemi and The_Prof, Chris doesn't mind. You page, "No problems. A vacation on Jade/Earth-Realm, essentially, is to get Bey and Lily fully degaussed. :)" to Akemi, Chris and The_Prof. Akemi pages, "Since it's unlikely to influence your vacation, I suppose we could do that, so that Rod could move on with his gaming." to you, Chris and The_Prof. You page, "Which would put Bey in a better mood when departing, etc." to Akemi, Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Exactly, John. I just don't want to hold up Rod 'n the other players while we have relax time." to you, Akemi and Chris. You page, "Yah. *wl* But we can figure that part later. Let's just get Lily here at least, if she's ameinable, and then Kanna can take them to the old homestead/forge thingie so they can settle in." to Akemi, Chris and The_Prof. You page, "*nodnod* Right. *wg*" to Akemi, Chris and The_Prof. ===== ===== Kanna -blushes-. And Bey, I perscribe for you much snuggles with your Lilyhoney." Beowulf snorts a bit, chuckling. "...right." Lian snickers. "Oh, don't worry." Kanna chuckles softly. "Anyway..." She looks to Onoli and the rest. "Sorry 'bout dragging you guys into all this, and subjecting you to one of our extensively long rambling catchup sessions... but it really helped." She smiles. "Thanks." ===== ===== Chris pages, "Of course, the problem with the bf talk is that I have no idea when my next day off is. x.x" to you. You page, "Heh. Well, we'll figure something. Chris pages, "Should be enough for relatively short scene like that. Afterwards, it's Lian having fun with trees and steel to build some gunboats for Ruka, which doesn't need to be played out, and potentially a Patternwalk." to you. You page, "Hopefully. Depends on wether I can get Ruka, etc, etc." to Chris. Chris pages, "We'll have to kidnap him if he doesn't cooperate. ;)" to you. You page-pose, "Aerianne eyerolls, ruefully." to Chris. Sheila says, "But was she worth the money, Tirga?" Lian says, "He's got to impress the ladies -somehow- ... his dazzling personality is obviously not enough." Tirga pretends he didn't hear either of those comments, though it's obviously straining him. Kanna says, "Now, Ladies..." She quirks a smile.
