to use a flying bed to get to her Lab Shadow, etc?

John says, "OOC Wasyuu typically travels in that way, though it may not
be a hard and fast requirement."

Beowulf OOCly nods... let's try a ground approach first, as if it works
it'd be better than falling out of the sky when dispelling hits. :)

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, being able to fly across shadow will help cut
the travel time, anyway, as we're not sure if she's still there, or
already hauling off with a Nuke the size of a small galaxy."

Kanna OOCly nods.  We can get horses at the keep, I presume... hm,
anybody or anthing else we should grab before heading off on this?

Beowulf says, "OOC Horses or humvees. :) Remember, Wasyuu's shadow is
high-tech, so we should probably stock up on high-tech gear first."

John asks, "OOC What are you going to use as your jumping off point?"

Beowulf says, "OOC We could also pick up Shinobu Minor and Keitaro
before they leave, as they're pretty much done in Begma."

Beowulf asks, "OOC It sounds like Wasyuu's shadow is probably closer to
Amber than the Keep, or am I mistaken?"

Kanna OOCly says, "Yes, but do -humvees- work at the Keep? *wl* I'm
decent with high-tech gear, at least in weapons-tech for -myself-...
mmm.  If they're amenable, we could use the trump/magic/shapeshift
support."

Beowulf says, "OOC My humvees do, since they're conjured with Mold
Shadow Reality. :) Doubt they'd work in Amber, though."

Kanna OOCly says, "I'd be inclined to start at the Keep.  as it's
partway between Yig and Amber, and it'd allow us to divvy up the time."

John says, "OOC Wasyuu's shadow is closer to Amber than the Keep."

Kanna OOCly says, "And if we find we're heading Yig/Chaos-ward, we can
start worrying."

Beowulf OOCly sighs. "Point, if she's already left the lab... though we
could do a quick Pattern check for Wasyuu before deciding where to start
from."

Kanna OOCly nods.  That's my big worry, yes.  Hence the desire to check
from the Keep first before deciding to kick into high gear.

Beowulf OOCly nods. "That makes sense, unfortunately. ;_;"

Beowulf asks, "OOC Do we want to try and pick up Shinobu and Keitaro?"

Kanna OOCly Might as well, if they haven't booked.

John says, "OOC You can grab 'em before they leave; they're willing to
help."

Beowulf OOCly nods. Find them... how late in the day is it?

John says, "OOC At this point, it's late afternoon"

Kanna OOCly says, "Cool.  So Kanna, Beowulf, Ruka, Shinobu Minor, and
Keitaro go and tdo the 'quick check for where Wasyuu's Lab Shadow Is'
and 'Where Wasyuu Is', to get a direction fix to see if it's the -same-

Beowulf says, "OOC I'm inclined to trump to Amber and start from there,
since that would let us report to Tylor/Miki in person, and if possible
I think I'd rather do that."

John says, "OOC You have to get pretty close to Wasyuu's lab, coming at
it from Amber, before Tech starts working."

Kanna OOCly says, "Edge of Arden/Harad Hellriding, then, I imagine you
mean.  But yeah, reporting to person if possible would prolly be good,
as it's not info that w  ---"

Kanna OOCly says, "Lags More.  Argh. :P"

Kanna OOCly is lagging so bad here it ain't funny. :P :P

Kanna OOCly says, "Ah.  How soon does tech start working from the keep
edge of things?"

John says, "OOC You can get to shadows where tech works within a few
hours of hellriding"

Kanna OOCly says, "Prolly better to start from the Keep then when we get
to the point when we're going to depart, if Travis/Bey insists on the
Humvee thing. *wl*"

Beowulf says, "OOC Not insisting on the Humvee, actually, since
Hellriding is same speed regardless of vehicle... but it might be better
if we run into trouble along the way. :)"

Kanna OOCly says, "What are Ruka/Shinobu/Keitaro's thoughts on the
matter?"

John says, "OOC Ruka isn't very familiar with shadow travelling methods,
as he has no power that allows him to shadow trvel and thus has no
opinion.  Shinobu thinks it is better to set out from the Keep in order
to be ready to do interception.  Keitaro thinks it's better to go
straight from Amber, which would be faster."

Beowulf says, "OOC I'd vote for setting out from Keep at this point,
then; only q is whether we want to trump to Amber to talk to Tylor in
person, or just trump him on the road. I'd vote for in-person, since it
shouldn't take too long, lets us check latest status at Amber, and
personal briefing is better than Trumped."

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, Bey (and I) want to alert the king, etc, about
the diplomatic blowup that may be happening, which means amber, then hop
back to the Keep and start from there.  Also allows the others to grab
any extra gear they feel they might need before leaving from the keep."

Beowulf OOCly nods. Let's do it.

You trump to Amber, where you find out the King is conferring with Miki
about various recent events in Chaos, and will likely be busy until it's
time for him to go to bed.

Beowulf asks Tylor's secretary if she could ask him to let them in,
since they have information that might bear on the Chaos matters.

The secretary tells you, "I think the King would very much fail to
appreciate my letting you into a meeting where state secrets are being
discussed. "

Kanna takes bey's shoulder.  "Let's go, Bey."

She continues, "But also importantly, they aren't allowing me in the
room, either, so I can't go in and ask them if they mind."

Kanna bows to the secratary.  "Our apologies, ma'm."  She quirks an
apologetic smile.

Beowulf sighs and nods slowly. "I understand, and I apologize as well.
Please let him know, as soon as you can, that we have talked to Anno
about the situation, and have some information he may not have yet;
we're going to talk to Wasyuu."

She says, "Have a nice night, your highnesses."

Beowulf nods. "And you as well."

Kanna nods, and goes and gathers the rest of the group, presuming
they've gotten any gear they may need while she and Bey tried to go talk
with the king.

Beowulf leaves with Kanna. "Trump back to the Keep and set out, then?
Hm, should probably trump Lily and let her know where we're going."

Lily takes the call, looking a little giggly.  You can hear loud music
in the background.  "Hiya, loverboy!" she announces excessively loudly.

Kanna nods.  "'sides, I figure that Uncle Tylor likely will have found
out about the extra details of the situation via Motoko or Uncle Miki
hearing from Anno..."

Beowulf grins. "Heya, lovely lady! Looks like you're having fun."

Beowulf says, "Good luck with the rest of the party; Kanna and I are
going to try and talk to Wasyuu, and Shinobu Minor, Ruka and Keitaro are
going to be coming with us in case things get bothersome. We should
hopefully be back in a couple of days."

Beowulf smiles back. "Doesn't cover that much, dear lady. Take care of
Mitsune for us, all right?"

Beowulf grins. "And I'd like to hear the story of this afterwards, if
it's safe to tell." His grin softens into a smile. "Take care, OK?"

She nods.  "I will."

Beowulf says, "Love you, dearest." He closes the connection.

Kanna raises an eyebrow at Beowulf.

Beowulf turns to Kanna, smiling. "Sounds like they're having a grand old
time... good, I'm sure Mitsune needed that."

Kanna chuckles.  "let's hope our own mission works as well."  She takes
a deep breath.

Beowulf says, "Anyway, I was going to say, before Lily answered --
hopefully they've heard the news, but I wasn't sure if they'd have heard
Grandfather's opinion on heading off the trouble."

Beowulf nods. "Amen to that. Let's collect the others and head out."

Kanna says, "well, we can fill them in if they haven't heard later, as
trying to figure -any- reasonable response would take time."

Beowulf nods. "I hope so."

You gather your crew and set out on horseback from the Keep.  Around 10
pm at night, you start hitting the shadows where technology works. 
Switching over to the Humvee now?

Beowulf asks, "OOC How's everyone feeling for fatigue? Think we can keep
going through the night, or better to find a good camp spot and start
fresh in the morning?"

Kanna OOCly says, "Go for a little while longer until it's consistantly
reasonably tech, then switch over. Helps keep us all in one vehicle, and
allows the one not driving and the one not shadowshifting to rest."

Kanna OOCly says, "As Kanna, being the one with Shadow Short Cut, is the
one doing the shifting to -keep- the ride as smooth as possible. *wg*"

Beowulf OOCly grins.

Kanna OOCly says, "And good question ont he fatigue levels, though as
far as I know, we all got good night's sleeps before the funeral (well
-I- did.. I patternwalked in the morning, but I'm durable.)"

John says, "OOC Y'all can pretty easily ride through the night if you
want."

Kanna OOCly Given that we have no idea what gradient Wasyuu's using
inside her lab, I'd advise pressing on.  (and I myself would be
alternating destinations as 'Wasyuu' and 'Wasyuu's Lab' in order to
confirm thaat she's still there and not moving away from it.)

Beowulf OOCly nods. Main q is how touchy the shadows are for night
travel. Assuming they're safe, yah, keep pressing on.

John says, "OOC These shadows seem reasonably safe for night travel as
long as you remember to use your headlights :)"

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, that's part of the reason why Humvees have
headlights and stuff."

Kanna OOCly cokes John.

Beowulf OOCly heh's. Press on, then.

Kanna OOCly says, "Oh, along the way... we need to figure out what to
-say- to Wasyuu in oder to get her to stand down.  Put them diplomatic,
fast-talk, and 'ghelping people get along' skills to work."

Kanna OOCly once again lags.

Beowulf OOcly nods. :) Grandson seem like the most likely trump card,
'we don't want to lose you to' second-most-likely? :)

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, more a buildup -- though I admit that part will
depend on the situation we find there."

You press on through the night without any serious incidents.  The next
morning, Keitaro takes a trump call from his parents and talks to them
for a while.  While he is talking to them, Beowulf gets a trump call
from King Tylor.

Beowulf takes the trump. "I'm sorry if we disturbed you last night,
Uncle."

Kanna OOCly presumably takes over the driving/shifting in full, unless
Shinobu's good at driving as wel.

Beowulf says, "OOC Shinobu handled the driving in our escape from the
hordes o' fighters. She's good. :)"

He says, "No, I didn't find out about you coming by until afterwards. 
Were you calling about the whole Abyss situation?"

Beowulf nods. "Yes. We talked with Anno, got some additional details on
the information Motoko had given us."

You page, "Oh, over the night, Kanna would've mentioned to bey whoever
calls, remind that we don't have the FULL story, so there's still facets
that may not be known, etc.  As going into the Abyss to interview and
investigate is rather difficult for most folks TO do. *wl*" to The_Prof.

Tylor nods.  "Miki brought me Anno's assessment of the current
situation.  I'm still trying to decide how best to approach it."

Beowulf says, "The main reason I wanted to check in with you is that...
while we don't have the full story, Anno thought that we might be able
to defuse the situation with an official apology, and a disavowal and
condemnation of her actions. I wasn't sure if he'd have mentioned that
to you."

Beowulf says, "It hurts... but honestly, it's the same thing I would
have to do personally. I cared about Lian like a sister, but what she
did was wrong, and I have to condemn it myself."

Beowulf takes a deep breath and lets it out.

Tylor nods.  "Yes.  Miki brought me the whole story."  He sighs.  "Well,
I just hope we can settle this before the fighting begins."

Beowulf sighs. "Yes. We're on our way to try and talk to Wasyuu right
now; do you have any messages you want us to pass along to her,
officially or unofficially?"

He says, "Tell her that I am very sorry she lost her daughter, and that
I don't think getting herself killed is what Lian would have wanted her
to do."

Beowulf sighs, wincing in pain. "We're... going to try to talk her out
of the bomb, but if that doesn't work, I'm afraid we're going to have to
knock her out and hold her down until she agrees to stop." He rubs his
eyes. "I hope things don't have to go that far, though."

regarding her?" He sighs. "If you'd rather have her brought back to

He says, "If you can convince her to return to Amber where it will be
harder for her to build very large bombs, that would be good.  I think
it is best she is not alone off on her own somewhere to brood."

Beowulf nods. "Yes. She still has a lot of people who care about her,
and she needs to be with people who can remind her of that." He smiles
weakly. "Maybe we should invite her to travel with us for a while?"

Tylor says, "That might be a good idea, as it'll keep her busy and under
someone's eye."

Beowulf shakes his head. "Anyway, that's all we had for you; I'm sorry
if we took up your time trying to give you information you already had.
Take care?"

Tylor says, "I'm glad you thought to tell me.  See you later, nephew."

Beowulf thanks Uncle Tylor and closes the connection.

Kanna glances over at Beowulf breifly as he finishes the call.  "So. 
How'd it go?"

Beowulf turns to Kanna. "Well, it looks like Uncle Tylor already had
talked to Anno and had heard what he told us..."

Beowulf says, "However, he did have a couple of messages to pass along
to her, and he agreed that it might not be a bad idea to ask her to
travel with us or one of the others -- keep her occupied and with people
who care about her."

Kanna mmms at that, and nods.  "It couldn't hurt to have her assistance
in taking down the Tharkold Construct, as that was one of Lian's goals
as well."  She returns her attention in full to the Shadowshifting.

Beowulf turns to Keitaro as they go. "How were your folks doing?"

Beowulf says, "OOC I'm also presuming Bey took some fasttime out in the
bag to prepare high-tech gadgets -- weapons, jammers, infiltration taps,
and the like -- as we're travelling."

Kanna OOCly says, "That shouldn't have been a problem, I would think,
imo.  GM's call. *wl*"

Kanna OOCly says, "Dont' forget sheilds.  Very Strong Sheilds."

John says, "OOC Righto.  "

Keitaro says, "Kind of weird conversation.  Mom was in super fret mode,
and was like 'Did you pack a lunch?  Did you take a toothbrush?  Did you
remember to polish your boots?' and so on.  Asking me stuff I know she
already knew, telling me I needed to remember my hair gel, and so on." 
He sighs.

Beowulf hmmms. "It sounds like she's worried about you." He looks
somewhat guilty. "I'm sorry to be taking you out again, after all you
went through with Lily and I the last time, but... well, hopefully this
won't be too much of a problem."

Beowulf heh's as a thought strikes him. "Though I'll bet Kanna will make
you promise to model those gangster outfits you picked up in Mobius'
shadow."

Kanna coughs.  "After we deal with keeping the universe from blowing up,
Bey..." she grins a bit, though.

Beowulf smiles at Kanna. "But of course! This is just the perfect time
to strong-arm them into it." He grins and winks at the pair.

Beowulf smiles a bit ruefully. "Yes... it does need to be done. And I'm
very glad you came along to help."

Beowulf says, "But yes. Onward."

Kanna nods, and continues the shifting-shadow-really-fast thing for the
group, continuing to flip between Wasyuu and Wasyuu-Lab destinations to
verify the fix every so often.

Beowulf murmurs to Keitaro, "When we get a chance, I'll go talk to your
mother in person, if you want."

The landscape rolls by, constantly changing at high speeds.

Kanna occasionally pings her sister through her manifestation, out of
habit, just to check she's accessable if need be.

She continues to be accessible.

Beowulf asks, "We still getting the same location for Wasyuu and her
lab, Kanna?"

Kanna checks this.

Yep.

As you cruise across a desert, dozens of sand skimmers (think those
things from El Hazard) emerge out of the dunes and begin opening fire on
your humvee with lasers.  To your surprise, they start following you
across shadow too.

Kanna nods.  "So far, so good, Beowulf." She pauses.  "Oh dear." She
sighs.

Kanna says, "Sis, you good for some laser-shielding?"

other recognizable troublemakers?"

Kanna OOCly says, "(sis - energy - Lasers?  Feh.)"

Beowulf says, "OOC Depending on how persistent they are, we could also
have folks dump explosions/mountains/etc. in front of them, slow them
down."

Gabrielle starts deflecting the shots as best she can, though some of
them get through, as there's a lot of folk firing at you and her
fighting skills are not the greatest thing ever.  In fact, these guys
are pretty disturbingly good shots.

John says, "OOC The vehicles don't seem particularly Abyssy, as they
seem to be mostly tech based."

levels?"

Kanna OOCly says, "Hm... Any sense of construct-assistance on their end?
 Any outsider-eminations from 'em?  By now we should have a good idea of
the performance capabilities of the Outsider Constructs when they
support cross-shadow stuff."

John says, "OOC Let me rephrase that.  While none of them are as good as
Shinobu, Kanna, or Beowulf, they're all substantially above the level of
Joe Amberite, and there's a LOT of them.  "

Kanna OOCly Ah so.  Right.  gomen. *wl*

John says, "OOC They're better than grunt level people normally get."

Beowulf asks, "OOC Any insignia visible on their vehicles?"

John says, "OOC They are all sporting a White Rose insignia rather like
Mikage's sigil in style, though color reversed."

Kanna OOCly says, "So just running and shielding our backsides seem to
be non-viable... too many to easily take out...  they're following us
through shadow, Buuuuut --- could we start editing the environment so
that the skimmers are no longer in the optimal enviroment for them to
fly?  Ie, large boulders, trees, etc?"

John says, "OOC A pattern sight examination shows they seem to be using
Magic-based shadow travel despite being tech-armed."

John says, "OOC Yes, you could swerve off your course and change terrain
types to mess them up if you so desire."

John says, "OOC It's only like the Avalon sigil in the sense of being a
white rose, but the style is different.  None of the Princes of Amber
currently use a White Rose sigil.  House Haaken, a Haradian noble house
uses a  White Rose sigil, but it seems hideously unlikely that they have
a bunch of sand skimming, laser-armed ships."

Kanna OOCly says, "Ah so.  Huh.  Weird.  Well, we've got more importaint
things to worry about than these yahoos, so try the environment-edit
thing to mess up the terrain to get them off our tail, if nobody else in
the group has any better ideas."

Beowulf rubs his chin. "Those folks are fighting about as well as people
who I gave a conjured warfare enhancement item to. I think we probably
know where they got their abilities from..."

You begin shifting terrain types.  The Humvee becomes somewhat shot up,
but then you move into very broken rocky land, full of chasms, and lose
the sand skimmers, who are unable to follow across this terrain type.

Kanna raises an eyebrow at Beowulf.  "Oh?" She stops the shadowshifting
for a bit once they're in the clear, so that bey can do repairs to the
Humvee if it's needed.  "And who would that be?"

Beowulf blinks. "Well, a general suspicion of someone related to Wasyuu,
but no one specific; what I had in mind was that they probably got their
abilities from a conjuror."

Kanna says, "Ah.  Oh, okay.  This Humvee strong enough even with the
damage it took, or can you do repairs on the fly?"  She looks wry.

Beowulf quickly patches up the holes. "Pretty strong lasers they had, to
punch through an armored body like this." He frowns. "And Wasyuu is a
skilled conjuror..."

Shinobu says, "Could be some group of Chaosians too, trying to conceal
their identity using a sigil that can't be traced to them, though most
Chaosians aren't into technology."

Kanna mmmms.  "right.  well, we knew we were likely going to have to
deal with SOMETHING along the way... if not on the way, at her Lab
proper."  She rubs her brow, and mutters.  She mms, and nods. 
"Perhaps... did anybody manage to sense any Logrus-energy in them from
that far, or did we just not have the range?"

Beowulf nods. "Anyway... if there is a next time, we could try doing an
item disrupt on them, and see what that does. Though we'd need someone
with a pretty strong mind."

has Magic Disrupt at least, since she used that back on the Taylor
Caravan, as I recall."

There's dozens of flying crabs everywhere, and you can see a nice two
story house by a lake nearby, with a large floating hotsprings over it.

Some of the bots give chase through shadow, continuing to fire at your
vehicle.

Kanna OOCly says, "Hm, have we stopped shifting shadow, per-se -- ie,
this is the shadow thaat's our destination?"

John says, "OOC Yes, this is the shadow of your destination,
apparently."

Beowulf asks, "OOC They look very nasty? Very hard to pot-shot?"

Kanna OOCly says, "Shift shadow some more so that the flying crab bots
will run into low-flying branches, etc, as I'm currently trying to deal
with that -- though, given how close we are now, Shinobu could handle
shadowshifting while I start opening up with beryllina."

John says, "OOC Yes, Shinobu can handle the shadowshifting, if you
want."

John says, "OOC The crab bots look to have fairly heavy weaponry, but
you're a lot better than they are, Travis, so you can certainly open up
on them."

Beowulf OOCly nods. Hopefully Wasyuu won't mind some property damage;
I'll be happy to help her fix things up later.

Kanna OOCly says, "*nod* Have shinobu take over shadowshifting, aid
Beowulf with taking out crab-bots.    Use the Pulse Laser Rifle form."

While Shinobu drives, trying to avoid the shots, you two and Keitaro
open fire on the bots.  Your vehicle gets shot up a lot, but you manage
to blow up the bots without any serious injuries.  Going to go deal with
the rest who didn't follow you into shadow?

humvee, Beowulf?  Do you think you can put a little bit of automation in
it to have it head into the shadow itself to serve as a decoy for the
'bots?"

Kanna says, "While we sneak in on a slightly different vector in the
forest."

Beowulf nods. "We could probably do that. Possibly even Pattern-charge
it some, to set off automatic Pattern-detection traps."

Keitaro nods. "That's a good idea."

sections?"

Beowulf OOCly nods, and has an idea. Make the humvee amphibious, send it
into the shadow and across the lake as a hopefully just-obvious-enough
attempt to bypass land-based traps. :)

John says, "OOC The forest stops about 20 feet from the house."

Kanna offers the suggestion of somehow tunneling underground to get into
the house, as it's not as likely to have subterranean defenses, and
would keep them from having to cross the grassy area -- just as an idea.

Shinobu nods.  "That's a good idea.  I know some good spells for

Beowulf winces at the tunneling suggestion, rubbing his arms, then nods.
"That might work."

Kanna says, "Duck back into Shadow, yeah..." She makes sure Beryllina is
ready at her side, gets them moved around so they won't be taking the
-exact- same vector as before..

You creep up close to Wasyuu's place, then start yelling out to Wasyuu. 
Wasyuu's voice responds from her loudspeakers, "Hah!  I bet you're all
just more evil undead trying to kill me!"

Beowulf sighs. "It's Beowulf and Kanna, and friends! Let me see, let me
see... ask us about something we did together recently, like that little
cross-universal jaunt!"

Kanna exclaims, "And scan us for Abyssal Taint -- We Ain't Got Any!"

"You're going to have to come out into sight for me to scan you!"

Beowulf sighs. "Right. I'll go out... if she does try to shoot, I can
probably dodge the best," he adds to the others, then walks out into
sight.

Kanna looks at the others, takes a deep breath, and nods to Beowulf.

comes out and starts inspecting Beowulf.

Bey does his walking thing.

As the crab continues scanning Beowulf, the planes begin strafing where
Kanna/Shinobu/Keitaro hide.  Some of Wasyuu's bots rise up and attack
them.

Beowulf asks, "Crap." They aren't firing at him?

Beowulf strafes the planes as well, taking cover if necessary.

You quickly discover that personal weaponry is ill-adapted for fighting
fighter planes.  While most of you have the mad skills to easily dodge
the shots, by the time you try shooting at the planes, they're gone out
of wherever you'd want to shoot them at.

Kanna OOCly tries to think of what they can do to the planes on a more
ranged/grouped level.

Beowulf says, "OOC Um... presumably enough warfare would let Bey, at
least, predict the plane's movements and lead 'em. o.o"

John says, "OOC You need some anti-aircraft weaponry."

John says, "OOC Dude, trying to 'lead' something that is moving hundreds
of miles an hour with a hand weapon is pretty much impossible."

Kanna OOCly says, "Hm.  Sis overreving their engines, spells to
lightning the planes, trumps of debris and 'chaff' tossed into -- oh,
wait no trump, duy."

on autofire might work ...

John says, "OOC Yep, Gabby can try using her energy powers to mess with
their engines."

Kanna OOCly says, "Have her do that... would one of Beryllina's
heavy-weapon modes on autofire also help?  got 30 mmm Plasma bolter, 30
MM chaingun, Quad-Barell Rotaray Plasma Cannon, as the 'heaviest'
forms...."

John says, "OOC You need enough speed to keep up with the planes or
tracking weapons, like heat-seeking missiles, etc.  to very effectively
shoot at them.  As the planes aren't coming very close, thanks to being
armed with lots of missiles they can fire from miles away."

You page, "Whee.  Well, the third is the last Outsider Construct... but
we'll find out soon enough, I 'spose. *wl*" to Chris.

Keitaro casts a spell on himself as he tries to run somewhere he can get
enough of a breather to try one of his attack spells.

Kanna helps guard the bag while presumably she and Shinobu help cover

Gabrielle begins overloading plane engines with her control of energy. 
Shinobu and Kanna are able to use their mad skillz to keep shooting the
missiles before they can get close enough to hit you, until, one of the
missiles gets shot, and instead of blowing up, a spell goes off.  You
can feel it trying to beat down your Psyche to have some sort of
intrusive effect.  Response?

Kanna grfs, and Pattern-Defenses, calling on Gaby to help boost her
psyche.  "Sis, we're gonna need magic-negation!" she cries out as she
holds onto her pattern image and keeps trying to shoot, hopeing
Beryllina's spellbreaking effect will help with the missiles as well if
they're carrying spells.

With the help of Pattern Defense and Gabby, you're able to easily laugh
off the spell.  Shinobu and Keitaro also resist the spell thanks to
Pattern and Broken Pattern defense respectively.  Unfortunately, it's
hard to shoot very accurately while using P. Defense, and as a result,
you all get a nice faceful of Missiles.

Kanna OOCly says, "So, the missle we shot that set off the spell just
hit the ground elsewhere, not blowing up, or something?"

John says, "OOC The missile got blown up, but apparently, it was
designed to release the spell upon blowing up, so it was happy and
content with you shootin git."

Kanna OOCly says, "Ah.  Right.  Whee.  Watch us go flying!  Whee!"

Keitaro lies stunned, while Kanna and Shinobu are flung about through
the woods.

Kanna arghs, and puts her physical training to use to try and land in a
somewhat intact manner.

Beowulf comes out of the bag with lots'o anti-aircraft weaponry. and
quickly scans the situation, ready to grab the bag and dodge if
necessary.

Kanna lands gracefully.  Several of the planes up above explode, either
from Wasyuu-Bots or from Gabrielle.

Kanna growls, and runs back to regroup, check on Keitaro, breif bey,
etc.  "Bey!  Some of the missles seem to have spells in them!"

Shinobu says, "I suggest we fall back to somewhere so that once we
revive Keitaro, the two of us can put up some wards to prevent us being
teleported like almost happened."

Kanna nods. "So that's what they were trying to do?  Wuuunderful."

Kanna OOCly says, "I can use my mad forest skills to get our happy
little group to a safe place to do such a thing? (well, -relatively-
safe...)"

Beowulf nods, snarling a little at the planes. He calls out to Aeris to
dump a healing spell on Keitaro and starts laying down covering fire.
"Retreat back to where Trump works again, and has bad weather to stall
the planes!"

Beowulf exclaims, "Shinobu, grab Keitaro, and let's go!"

Kanna nods, and leads them back through shadow quickly, into Bad Weather
and Trump Working zone -- bad for the planes, but so that on the ground,
covered by the trees, they should be marginally safer.

You retreat through shadow, quickly manipulating things so that you
reach a nearby shadow with functional trump and with hideous high
atmospheric winds, which will tend to knock the planes out of the sky. 
Once you're there, you're able to revive Keitaro, and he and Shinobu put
up some magical defenses.  In fact, it quickly becomes obvious that your
foes have figured out this is a crappy place to attack you, and they
pull back.

Kanna exclaims, "c'mon!"

Beowulf asks, "Crap." He looks at Shinobu and Keitaro. "Can you hold
those defenses up while we move?"

Kanna frowns.  "they'll be waiting for us when we try to get back to
wasyuu... sis, did any of the pilots try to bail before they got blown
up?  Or were there any pilots at -all-?"

Shinobu says, "Spells tend to come apart if you try to haul them across
shadow boundaries.  We could take a while and build some designed to be
portable, though."

Beowulf nods grimly. "Could you do it fasttimed in the bag?"

Shinobu says, "That would help a lot."

John says, "OOC Gabrielle tells you the planes seem to be
remote-controlled with no pilots"

Kanna OOCly says, ".. Well.  Well well.  Hmmm.  Perhaps a way exists to
magically/technologically jam/confuse them?"

Beowulf says, "Right. Let's jump in the bag, you work on your spells,
I'll get more AA weaponry ready. Kanna, can you guard us?" He tosses her
the AA guns he brought out.

Beowulf OOCly hmms. "Could I build jammers into the missile heads, or
would that interfere with their own seekers?"

Kanna OOCly says, "I thought AA-Weaponry wasn't normally easily
tossable. *wg*"

John says, "OOC Amberites are strong enough to throw motorcyles.  I
figure you can throw a rocket launcher"

Kanna OOCly says, "Well, okay, by semi-normal folks -- Kanna herself
could serve as her own damn porta-howitzer instead."

Beowulf says, "OOC Hey, Bey's pretty strong by now, and Kanna's strong
enough to catch. ^_^ And Stingers are man-portable, designed that way in
fact. :)"

Kanna OOCly says, "Ah, so.  Right.  Okay, Stingers, not bigger stuff. 
My bad."

Kanna OOCly says, "(I was thinking like full-out gun emplacements,
etc.)"

John says, "OOC Ahh :)"

Beowulf says, "OOC I don't think I'd be able to carry those as we
retreated. ^_^"

Kanna OOCly says, "Then be more descriptive, man.  AA weapons could be
-anything-, and you're the one who sometimes hauls out Zepplins...."

Kanna catches and nods.  "Of course, bey."

You all retreat into the bag, and Shinobu and Keitaro build some
magic-interdiction spells, to hopefully block or at least weaken
anything magical thrown at you.

Beowulf builds a few more AA weapons, putting what jamming in that he
can without hurting their seekers.

Kanna keeps semi-paranoid guard while they do this in da bag.

Beowulf says, "OOC We're fasttimed, so shouldn't be more than a moment
or two, but best to be careful."

Kanna OOCly says, "But of course."

Beowulf pops out with Shinobu and Keitaro, and more AA rockets in tow.

You then move out through shadow and discover Wasyuu seems to have
driven off the planes, or perhaps they went back to where they came
from.

Kanna raises the megaphone again.  "Doctor Wasyuu!  Are you still
there?"

Beowulf sighs. All that for nothing...

"Ahah!  So you tried to trick me with those planes, eh?"

Beowulf looks at Kanna, eyebrows raised. "*Doctor* Wasyuu?"

Kanna glances ruefully at Bey.  "Hey, keep them --"  She sighs.   "No,
we did not!"  She calls back through the megaphone.

Kanna shrugs at Bey.

Beowulf calls out, "I almost wish we had, Wasyuu-chan! Then they
wouldn't have shot Keitaro!" He sighs. "Look... can I come out and have
you try scanning me again?"

You page, "Nasty Possiblity Four -- Wasyuu being compromised. :/  But I

"Alright, but if you send the planes again, I'll have to use my
de-atomiser on you!"

Kanna makes a mental note to her sis to be ready to create a fire gate
if something -does- go even more fubar.

Beowulf sighs. "If they send the planes again, we'll be ready to shoot
them down this time. Were the other attackers using that same symbol?"

Wasyuu says, "How do you know about the other attackers if you aren't
WORKING FOR THEM, HMM?"

Kanna exclaims, "We were attacked on the way, Wasyuu-sama!"

The crab begins scanning Beowulf, assuming he comes out to it.

Kanna exclaims, "Here, that is!"

Beowulf says, "Because we got attacked on our way here by a crew of
sandskimmers wearing the same logo. And because you said you were
attacked by undead." He steps out to be scanned by the crab.

we had to capture Thropan and his friends when they got their minds

Wasyuu says, "They could have pried that information out of your head."

Beowulf says, "True. On the other hand, if they did that, they'd know
enough about your defenses to get through anyway, without trying to talk
to you first."

"My defenses are INVINCIBLE!"

Kanna moves over and murmurs to Bey, "Offer to hug her."  She looks
wryly sheepish.

Beowulf shakes his head ruefully. "If you really want me to, I could
name at least ten holes right off the top of my head. Assuming you'd
want me to do so in the open... well, I can help you fix them
afterwards, so it shouldn't matter."

Keitaro laughs loudly.

Beowulf sighs. "Or, as Kanna just suggested, I could offer to hug you."
He smiles crookedly.

There's a long pause.  "Alright, maybe it is you."

Kanna waves to the Crab-camera.  "Belive me, we all need one."  Her
expression gets sadder, but she tries to smile.

There's another pause.  "Alright, come on in."  Her voice sounds more
sad than angry now.

Beowulf nods sadly to Kanna, and leads them inside.

Kanna nods, and gestures to Keitaro and Shinobu and Beowulf, making sure
to keep them covered as they head in.

You're soon ushered through the house and then through a gate door into
Wasyuu's laboratory.

Beowulf looks around for Wasyuu as they come in... then gives her a hug.
Just to live up to type. ^_^

Kanna hugs as well.  She probably needs one after the last few days.

Wasyuu hugs you back tightly, and hugs Shinobu and Keitaro as well. 
"Thank you for coming by," she says softly.

Beowulf murmurs, "...damnit, Wasyuu-chan... we've lost three people this
week, I don't want to lose you as well."

Beowulf says, "OOC Yup, I'm including Miki of Gainax; she was involved
with Lian's business."

Kanna OOCly nods.  But this be a good fork, etc.  You two around
tomorrow?  We can hopefully wrap up before John has to depart... so
we're on what, day 79 now? *wl&*

sand-white-rose fleet on the next day... then went another day into 79."

renewing her sewing magazines, got Cool Runnings for sis, but want to
get something bigger as well.

Kanna OOCly 's mom's bday is Dec 6, day after pearl harbor.  Always
makes it interesting to buy for her, as it's so CLOSE to christmas. *wl*

Kanna OOCly says, "Yeah, if she'd ben born the day before,s he would've
been named Pearl."

John says, "OOC December 6 is the day before Pearl Harbor"

Beowulf grins. "A good name."
