Astinus says, "Okay, I think I'm ready for you guys to go a pirating :)" Kanna OOCly says, "Arrrr!" Beowulf OOCly grins. Astinus asks, "OOC Where were you going to meet and where are you going to in order to deploy the sub?" Kanna OOCly says, ": hoists the flag of the Pepperland Liberation Front." Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly they meet a young lad that claims to have a trump-powered submarine....." Beowulf says, "OOC I was figuring some fairly deserted cove up along the coast." Kanna OOCly says, "I figure we'd meet at Bey's quarters in the castle, and then... hm, prolly head to Baylesport, actually. Depends on how far the ship to intercept will be." Kanna OOCly says, "Cove to the north, yes." =================================== =================================== The three of you ride up the coast to find a cove in which to deploy the sub, riding under the night sky. Kanna OOCly says, "Current time?" Astinus says, "OOC Yuo arrive at a good cove around 11 PM." Beowulf reaches inside the bag, switches the Nautilus to research-sub form, and looks for the best spot to slide it into the water. You soon have it in the water. Kanna looks up at the night sky. She's never been -fully- used to that big dark thing with little lights, but she can put up with it now. She then looks around the cove they've chosen, securing the horses at a place where they won't be easily found. Beowulf exclaims, "All right, everyone... allllll abooord!" Lian seems a little distracted as she takes her little bundle of toys out of the saddle bags and heads over to the sub, barely giving it a glance. Beowulf asks, "Hmmm, Lian?" Lian blinks and looks up. "Yes?" Kanna chuckles a bit, and heads over to Bey and the sub. She then hrms, glancing over at Lian with some concern, waiting by the ladder up/in/whatever. Beowulf says, "Oh, you just seemed a bit distracted." Lian shrugs, "Been thinking about some things. I'll tell you later." Beowulf says, "Ah... all right, then. Shall we begin?" He goes up the ladder and enters the conning tower. Lian nods and follows Bey in. "I'm ready." Kanna nods. "That works. Let's take care of the KTC ship first, and on the way back..." Kanna lets Lian go up next, and follows her up. Kanna OOCly also lags. Kanna OOCly thwaps his connection around. Kanna secures and dogs the hatch after the board, following the other two towards the bridge. Beowulf casts off and heads for deeper water. Once they're far enough out to completely submerge, he does so and switches to the Yellow Submarine form. Beowulf says, "o/~ In the town, where I was born/Lived a man, who sailed to sea... o/~" You cruise along underwater. Nobody here but fish. Kanna picks up, automatically, "o/~ and he told of us his life/ in the lad of submarines...o/~" Lian opens her pack while Bey pilots and takes a few things out, attaching them to the harness she is wearing, except for a small Beatles statuette, grinning as the two sing. The water is a bit rough, but you sail towards the point where your attack is to take place without any trouble. Beowulf asks, "Lian, you said you had disguises for us? I'll be Ringo, Kanna can be John... would you rather be George or Paul?" Kanna then consults the info Nanami provided once again, figuring the intercept course for the KTC boat. "Think we can get a little height once we're in position, so we can raise periscope to keep watch?" Lian nods and holds the Beatles statuette up. "I'll play Paul." Beowulf nods. "What did you have in mind for a plan, since you wanted to wait 'till we were underway?" Kanna is clad in her gi-and-tights getup, sabre and staff current shrunk to tonfa form and secured with her belt at the small of her back, Gaby Manif. secured on her top. Kanna thinks. "The -basic- gist is to wait and watch for the Kashmir Trading Collevtice to get within range for a long-range scry of its contents, if it can be done... and from there, if it's just opium, rip open the bottom. After all, these coasts -are- dangerous..." Beowulf is just in some nondescript clothing, the bag swung over his shoulder. Beowulf nods. "Makes sense... I thought you were wanting to board, just to make sure." Kanna says, "If it's -not- Opium, then boarding is probably what we'll have to do." Kanna OOCly says, "Does that sound sound from a tactical perspective?" Kanna looks at Bey and Kanna. "Opinions on your end?" Beowulf says, "Let me think about it for a moment..." ==== ==== Astinus says, "OOC You might want more than 3 people for an actual boarding action, as you have no way of being sure how skillful the ship's crew is. If they're Joe Amberites, you'd be fine with your skills, but given the boat will probably have some competent marines..." Astinus says, "OOC You could use the X-ray vision to search for powders, but it has no way to be sure you're looking at opium instead of say, flour." Astinus says, "OOC and since Opium is neither radioactive, nor particularly hot, nor magical, those wouldn't help either." ==== ==== Beowulf ponders. "If they're guarded, they'd probably have 20-40 marines on board; that's about usual for a ship like this." Lian hms, "That'd be a bit much for us to take on ... " Beowulf says, "I doubt just the three of us could take out that many, without some assistance." Kanna purses her lips. "Mmmm." She scratches her cheek. "... damn, prolly should've rustled up some more folks to come with us if we're going to board." She nods to Beowulf. "Yeah." Beowulf says, "Hm. What kind of things might you have to tie up a large batch of marines? I'm afraid the web and tomato grenades won't work this close to Amber." You page, "Kanna. Decent person, but her naval sense isn't exactly the best... *wg* :)" to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Heh. Understandable enough." to you and Chris. In a page-pose to you and The_Prof, Chris grins. "It's not too often that we get hot ship-to-ship action. You page, "Could Kanna have Gaby trump some supplies to them?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Yep." to you. Lian thinks for a moment, then shakes her head. "I don't have any offensive spells on me ... and no real area effect weapons either that'd work here." Beowulf says, "Drat. All dressed up and no where to go... hm." Kanna considers. "I've got my usual equipment," she taps her rings, "But I like to keep them on-hand.... oh! I could see what sis can grab her hands on." Beowulf says, "Actually, if you've got a good idea for something to make, Lian and I could duck inside the bag and put it together." Gabrielle pings. "Hmm?" Beowulf keeps an eye on the periscope for the ship while they're discussing. Kanna says, "Hey, sis? Could you check some of the usual supply places? For nets, good strong rope, or other binding stuff? Oh, and prep the usual set of spells you use, though we should hopefully not need 'em..." Lian smiles slowly. "Your bag ... now that is an option." You page, "(usual set of spells is the same sort of set Corrine used during the second day of darkness...)" to Akemi and Mercutio. Beowulf says, "If they're sailors, they've probably got enough experience to handle normal nets; we'd need something a bit more serious." Lian asks, "How about animated steel nets?" Gabrielle says, "I think Kanzacki Heavy Industries is working on some non-lethal weapons... you want I should check?" Beowulf sets the Nautilus' autopilot to scanning for the ship, though he keeps an eye out himself as he can... two pairs of 'eyes' are better than one. Kanna says, "True." She then arches an eyebrow at Lian. "Yeah, you do that, Gaby. If you need to pay, draw outta my rainy day account." Beowulf says, "We'd need something that could immobilize the crew without damaging the ship, in case it's the wrong ship." Kanna looks at the notes left by nanami. What are the recognizing marks of the ship they're targetin, again? Lian takes out a notepad and starts scribbling, hmming to herself. Beowulf says, "It's called the Eagle. Small trading vessel, with KTC insignia. There's a ship type listed." Kanna nods. "Seen anything like that yet?" She takes a turn at the periscope. Kanna OOCly says, "Pause." Kanna OOCly returns, havign brought in yet -another- set of subwoofers for Chris's car. Which he does not yet own, but assures me that he will eventually. Beowulf OOCly says, "About what time do we think the Eagle will reach the intercept site?" Astinus says, "OOC Around 1 AM. Your sub is fast enough youhit the site around 1130 PM." Beowulf says, "OOC Hm. I thought it was supposed to hit Amber (by which I understood Amber Port) by 1 AM." Gabrielle pings. "Sorry, sis. There's nothing around here that'll work with local tech levels. Well, nothing non-deadly." Gabrielle says, "I can get you things like bolas and lassos and the like." Kanna hehs. "Those'll help, yeah." Kanna hrms. "Chemical stuff, perhaps? Smoke or knockout grenades, if we had masks to filter?" She looks at Bey and Lian again for opinions. Gabrielle's pin shimmers with a rainbow effect, and several crates drop into the Yellow Submarine. "There y'go. Bolas, some heavy-duty lassos, and there's a blowgun in that little one, just for the hell of it." Beowulf says, "I can come up with a powder that will foam when it hits the water, then set in place. Should slow it down some, possibly even immobilize it." Lian says, "That would take care of the ship, at least." Kanna smiles. "Thanks, sis." She then looks at Bey. "Will it affect the sub on the approach?" Beowulf says, "If we do a direct attack run on the boat, yes." Beowulf says, "If we're going to board, it might actually help." The_Prof pages, "You know, I'm starting to have a sneaking suspicion who might actually be on this boat... o.o" to you and Chris. Chris pages, "We'll see. :)" to you and The_Prof. Beowulf says, "It'd at least slow the ship down enough to make boarding easier; we'd spray it in front, and approach from the side or the back." Beowulf asks, "OOC Where is our intercept site in relation to the coast and the Rebma vortex?" Kanna nods. "So many damn options.." She quirks a smile, and then heads over to the crates and pries off the lids to check out the goods. "How good would your scries be, Lian? I'm not too clear on the magic end of things." She smiles sheepishly. Kanna OOCly says, "I beleive it's way to the north, as the Rebma Vortex is to the south of the Gulf of Amber." Astinus says, "OOC Yuo're on the northern side of the gulf, yes." Beowulf asks, "OOC How far up around the coast? Around Baylesport?" Beowulf asks, "OOC or further south than that?" Astinus says, "OOC You're probably going to be maybe ten miles east of Amber City" Lian frowns and shakes her head, ripping the top page of her notepad out. She then looks over to Kanna. "I can give you visual only, I'm afraid." Kanna nods. "Right. Doubt the'd nicely label their crates 'illegal goods', but one could always hope. How good are the sensors on this tub, Bey?" Beowulf says, "Hm. I can do x-ray vision to examine inside the ship, and magic sniffing to tell if there's any magic; there's heat-sensing and radiation-sensing." Lian says, "If we find something that -could- be opium, it'll only take a few minutes to get a sample of it." Kanna says, "Won't give us hyper-specifics, but can give us the general gist of numbers on board, and where their stuff is stached." Beowulf says, "So, in essence, I could see if there's bags of powder, I could see if there's anything magical on board." Kanna nods. "And if they're -not- carrying bags of powder, something's even more up than normal." Beowulf says, "I could even analyze the magic, to some degree... but I wouldn't be able to tell what the powder is." Beowulf says, "Actually, if there aren't bags of powder, it is possible that it's just a normal ship... on the other hand, if there's no powder but the ship is reeking with magic, then yes, something would definitely be up. Hopefully not the jig." He grins. Lian shakes her head and smiles. "If it's magic, I can get a pretty good idea of what they have. If there is no magic but bags of powder, I can get us a sample of the powder so we can see if it -is- opium." Kanna says, "Right. But knowing -where- the powder is, relative to the rest, could help determine the best way to approach the ship." She chuckles. "Who wants the blowgun? I've got my crossbows and a dart gun, myself, for projectile." She looks at Lian. "You can get the sample remotely? We can go with that, then." Beowulf reaches into the bag and pulls out the airgun, mix of capsules. "I've got this, assuming it doesn't get dispelled." Lian says, "In case we do need to board, I have my sword and a whip. That should be enough." Beowulf says, "A whip, eh?" He grins. Lian says, "Well, it's somewhat whip-like, at least." Beowulf asks, "I believe one of you said they had knockout gas? Or were you just suggesting we create some?" Kanna nods, and chuckles. "Righto." She checks sensors and stuff again, though Bey likely can translate 'em better. "I was suggesting creating some, yeah." Lian says, "Gas would be useless ... it's kinda windy up there." Kanna says, "mmmm. Point." Kanna makes a note to visit Bill Vincent's next time she gets into a jaunt like this. Well, save that it's technically supposed to be a black-op as far as it goes... Lian asks, "On the other hand, I could do a dart thrower ... " She looks at Bey. "Think you can mix up a batch of injectable sleeping poisons?" Beowulf says, "True. I've got some knockout liquid that absorbs through the skin in capsules for the airgun... I could make some up for you as well." Lian nods, "That works." Beowulf says, "I was just hoping for something with a little more area effect. Though if it's windy, that could well be a bad thing." You page, "How good is 'mold shadow stuff' for creating ammo around amber? Stuff it's been taught/programmed to make? I'm thinking Kanna's Pnuematic Dart Gun tends to be used for tranq/knockout darts, etc." to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Mold Shadow stuff works fiarly well in Amber for making ammo." to you. You page, "Righto." to Akemi. Beowulf says, "Any other ideas? If not, let's hop in the bag and get conjuring." Lian grins and shows him a drawing. It looks like a spiked globe with stubby little wings. "Dart thrower." Beowulf blinks. "Ah. Right." Kanna says, "ooooo." Chris pages, "I love conjuring. :)" to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Heh. Ayup." to you and Chris. Beowulf says, "Ready, then?" He opens up the bag and gestures to Lian. Lian peers at the bag. "Just step in?" Kanna says, "My dart gun can make knockout tranqs, itself." She has her silver ring turn brefly to an air-powered dart gun before it collapses back to ring. "I'll stay out here and keep an eye out on things." Beowulf says, "Good enough, Kanna. Yes, just step in." He grins. Lian does so, then. Beowulf follows after. Okay, you're in the bag anteroom. Kanna nods, and waits, continuing to check the periscope and sensors regularly. Beowulf sets the time to 1 week=1 Amber second, and grins. "Welcome to Fibber McGee's Closet." He does a quick look 'round the room to make sure things are as he left them. All is as you left it. Beowulf asks, "Will a week be enough for you?" Lian chuckles and looks around. "Interesting place. Hm ... yes, a week should do." Beowulf says, "Good." Kanna OOCly must head to the bathroom. (so Kanna is paused.) BRB. Presumably, though, they'll be busy in the bag.... Beowulf makes up the foaming powder, and puts it into capsules for the airgun. He also makes up some of the knockout liquid for Lian. Lian starts working on her little clockwork angels. Beowulf finishes the liquid and hands it to Lian. "Anything else you can think of?" Beowulf OOCly also waits for Phil to get back. Lian pours the liquid into the reservoirs of her small group of cute lil balls o' death, then closes them. "Let's see ... we've taken care of the offense. Got anything for defense?" Kanna OOCly returns. Beowulf says, "Hmmm... not really. I usually go on the theory that the best defense is a good offense. Though I do have the whip." Lian nods, "Good offense doesn't protect you from a bolt in the back though." Beowulf says, "And if they start slinging lots of spells, I do have a Magic Sinkhole racked in the spell." Lian says, "I'd rather you don't use that." Beowulf says, "Hm? Got a few spells running on you, then? I'll avoid it, except as a last resort." Beowulf does go ahead and conjure 4 pt. damage resistance into his jacket. Lian says, "I don't have any spells running, but I might have to use some. So ... try not to use it." Beowulf nods. Beowulf says, "Actually, how strong an armor can you conjure into clothing? I can do up to 4 pt." Lian says, "If you give me enough time, I can make you a nice set of assault armor that will protect you from pretty much anything a single person can use, unless they cheat and use magic too." Beowulf asks, "Hm. How much would that restrict my movement?" Lian grins, "No more than any jumpsuit." Beowulf asks, "Heh. All right, then... how much time will you need?" Lian says, "About a day for one ... better make one for Kanna too." Beowulf nods. "Well, we've got a week in an Amber second, so that should be plenty of time." Lian nods, "I better get working then ... I'll want a nice dinner when I'm done though. This is hard work." Beowulf nods. "I can arrange for that, I think." Lian asks, "Any preferences regarding color?" Beowulf says, "Not really. Though if it's going to fit the disguise, it ought to be brightly colored." Beowulf says, "OTOH, if you can do the coloring as part of the disguise magic, make it cloud grey. Should be fairly hard to spot, then." Lian says, "The spell will recreate the complete appearance, including outfits, so that isn't really necessary." Lian nods, "Cloud grey it is, then." Lian gets to work then. Beowulf orders dinner out while she works. "Any preference for food?" Lian murmurs, "Yes, lots of it." Beowulf grins, nods, and calls up Arthur Bryant's. Lots of good barbeque prepared under suspicious conditions soon arrives :) Beowulf hands Lian a sandwich when she reaches a stopping point. The sandwich is about seven centimeters thick. Lian blinks at the sandwich, then grins and eats. "That's what I call food." Beowulf says, "Don't forget the fries." He hands over a large reddish-brown paper wrapping containing about three handfuls of hand-cut fries. Lian laughs. "Okay, that should be enough." Beowulf says, "Good." He polishes off his second turkey sandwich. Lian eats quickly but neatly. "Another day, then we can go back to Kanna. Unless you have something you still want to do?" Beowulf says, "Nope, that's about everything I can think of, unless you have any suggestions." Beowulf says, "An awful lot is going to depend on just what we see when we take a look at the ship." Lian shakes her head. "Not really." Lian says, "If we're lucky, all that preparation is for nothing, and we find the opium and can sink the ship." Beowulf says, "I hope so. Better to be prepared, though." Lian says, "True." Lian yawns. "I think I'll take a nap, and then start on the next suit." Lian . o O ( OOC: Fast forward another two days for the other suits and recovering? ) Beowulf OOCly nods; sounds good. Beowulf nods. Time passes, you conjure stuff. Beowulf says, "OOC Doh. :p" Lian . o O ( Bah. Connection died for a minute. -.- ) Lian . o O ( OOC: Last I saw was Beowulf nods. ) Time passes, you conjure stuff. Astinus asks, "OOC Okay, any other preparations?" Beowulf says, "Not here." Beowulf OOCly gets ready to stop out of the bag. You return to the ship. No disasters have happened in your absence. Kanna OOCly says, "No time has passed from Kanna's POV?" Astinus says, "OOC THey've been gone a few seconds." Astinus says, "OOC As the bag has fast time inside it." Kanna blinks. "Well. -That- was fast...." She peers at the bag with Pattern Sight. "What, you got your own personal portable shadow or something?" Beowulf says, "Something like that." He grins. Beowulf asks, "Anyway, any sign of the ship yet?" Nope. It's now about an hour before you expect the boat. You page, "Oh, does Pattern Sight work through optics? I know you told me that you can P-Sight yourself through a mirror, but would it work through telescopes, binoculars, periscopes, etc?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Yep." to you. Lian grins, and directs her group of flying spiked balls to wait in the corner, then holds a grey suit out to Kanna. "You might want to put that on, just in case." Kanna ooos, and nods. "Righto. Gimme a few to change." Beowulf points out a changing room for Kanna. Kanna takes the jumpsuit, thanks Bey, and heads for the changing room. Chris pages, "Diggers Design combat suits. :) Tight, allows free movement and looks good." to you and The_Prof. You page, "[Kanna looks at Beowulf. "Oh, -I'll- say...."]" to Chris and The_Prof. Beowulf finds another changing room for himself and puts on the suit, making sure to hang the whip on its belt. :) Lian does the same. Change into the new suit, transfer tools harness. With weapons and everything. Kanna comes back out, clad in the nice grey bodyhugging suit, her tonfa once again secured and rings ready for use. She also hangs a pair of bolos from her belt, and a lasso for tying folks up. Kanna wolf-whistles when she espieses Beowulf coming out of his changing room. "Lookin' -fine-, Bey..." she grins. Beowulf also comes back out, dressed in his suit. "My, what people are wearing this year..." Lian finally returns too. "My ...we're looking good. As it should be." Moriya OOCly heads home. Shizumaru has disconnected. >> Shizumaru bows, says, "Gomen nasai. Mou ikimasu," and runs off. Beowulf smiles back at Kanna and shrugs. "Protective gear is always in fashion. Well, except for active protection in Pinata; they kind of frown on that there." Kanna chuckles. "They expect folks to be able to take it themselves?" Beowulf says, "Well, they frown on things like little arms to bat away incoming objects. They used to be quite popular, until one item knocked the fez off the head of the Grand Poobah during National Simplicity Day." Lian says, "What a catastrophe." Kanna says, "D'oh." Beowulf says, "Well, he was a bit annoyed. I suppose the toupee coming off with the fez didn't help, either." Kanna says, "That'd do it." Lian says, "Probably, yes." Beowulf starts doing more active sweeps for the boat. Lian gets comfortable while she waits for the target to get into range. Around 12:45, you pick up the boat approaching. Kanna finds a place to lounge against a convenient wall, though occasionally takes a turn at the periscope. When they finally get in range, she tries patternsighting the boat through the Periscope. Beowulf does a full visual sweep of the decks before activating any of the special scans... anything look unusual? The storms above the surface block any visual contact; visibility is pretty lousy. And the storm seems to be getting worse. Beowulf asks, "OOC How far are we away from the boat at the moment?" Astinus says, "OOC Several miles." You page, "Patternsighting the storm reveals clear and water imprint?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "It reveals the usual shadowstormy goodness." to you. Lian concentrates, making a strange gesture, and stares off into space. Kanna frowns. "... I do -not- like that shadow storm... something's building..." Beowulf moves in a bit closer, and does a passive magic scan. Astinus says, "OOC You estimate it probably won't hit your position until about 1:15 to 1:30 due to the storm." Kanna mumurs to her pin for Sis to be ready to help with Storm Neutralization should it become necessary. The boat radiates no magic. Beowulf activates the x-ray scan. X-ray scan reveals...ship hull seems to block x-rays. Beowulf uh-oh's. "The ship's hull is blocking x-rays. This could be a problem." The ship continues sailing along. Beowulf also does a quick sweep 'round the horizon with the x-ray scan. Lots of fish and other sea life in the area. No other boats, submersibles, etc. The_Prof pages, "Cr*p. I'm afraid my bad feeling is looking more and more likely all the time." to you and Chris. Beowulf asks, "OOC MOre fish life than usual?" Kanna frowns again. "Fucking cute. Anything else we've got to be able to check? Storms are blocking the visual up top... we might have to go with boarding anyway if we dare check. The fact that it's blocking x-rays... they're definitely hiding something now..." Lian frowns at Bey's announcement, but continues to concentrate. Kanna OOCly says, "Oh, what does thermal reveal?" Astinus says, "OOC You're not famiiar with local marine biology. Seems fairly normal. Boat has the usual thermal signature of a wooden boat." Kanna OOCly says, "For that matter... the Shadow Storms usually stays aroudn the rebma vicinity/gulf, right? Are we outside the area where they'd normally be?" Astinus says, "OOC The shadow storms normally block transit across the gulf completely." Astinus says, "OOC Which is why the Lighthouse of Cabra was built." Kanna OOCly says, "Ah, so ka. Double-checking." Astinus says, "OOC The storm activity is maybe a little worse than usual, but not by much." Kanna OOCly nods. Beowulf says, "Thermal scan's normal. I think there's definitely something hiding in there." Beowulf says, "Er, actively working to hide something." Kanna asks, "Can you get numbers onboard, and positions from the thermal?" Lian murmurs, "It blocks my scrying spell, too. Six men only on deck." Beowulf asks, "Can either one of you do any kind of Power analysis with your scrying/pattern sight?" Beowulf mutters to himself, "I *knew* I should have built that into the sensor suite..." Kanna says, "I'll try to see if I can spot the ship through the storm again, but the storms themselves are cutting off pretty much all visual contact..." Kanna tries again, peering through the Periscope for the direction the Ship should be. Beowulf asks, "Would it help if we got closer?" You page, "That'd trade off visibilty for being detected, yes?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Well, you're underwater, so they're not too likely to notice you unless they're scrying or something." to you. Kanna asks, "If we get closer and if they're not scrying, that should allow us to get visual lock. You'd be able to pick up if they started scrying us?" Lian frowns. Kanna says, "After all, we -are- underwater..." Lian says, "They seem to have lined their hull with cold iron. Including hatches and doors." Kanna says, "-well-." Beowulf says, "Yes, but with x-ray vision we could see through to the boat... of course, if they've got a sensor suite as good as mine, they could see us by now anyway." Beowulf says, "Indeed. It's looking like boarding is going to be the only option." Beowulf says, "As right now it looks *very* suspicious... *too* suspicious to just sink without seeing what's there." Kanna scratches her cheek again. "Damn. Either ram and rip, but Pyricorn only knows what OTHER things they've got on it to prevent, or board. Given how much protection it's got... yes." She nods. Lian says, "You're right. Unfortunately." Kanna says, "This is starting to get -way- overkill for just Opium." Beowulf asks, "OOC How rough is the storm making the seas right now?" Astinus says, "OOC You might want to keep in mind that this is being smuggled by one of the richest companies in Amber :)" Beowulf says, "OOC True. :)" Kanna OOCly says, "Well, this is true." Beowulf says, "Lining the hull with cold iron? You'd better believe it's overkill." The water is fairly rough, but not too rough to try boarding. You wouldn't want to swim in it, through. Beowulf says, "You know... if we could capture it, Nanami could probably find some very good uses for it." Beowulf says, "Of course, there'd be the problem in getting it in *to* her..." Lian says, "As long as you can get it to her without alerting its previous owner ..." Beowulf grins. "Exactly." Lian asks, "Park it in your bag?" Beowulf says, "That might be a bit tricky, given the seas; don't want to flood the Closet, after all." Kanna chuckles softly. "'Hi, we reached the ship, Aunt Nanami. We tossed the goods and crew, and we figured you'd want the boat, so...here.'" Beowulf heh's. "I suppose we could always surface under it to get it out of the water, and *then* put it in the bag." Lian says, "First we have to take care of its crew anyway." Beowulf says, "First things first, though... we'll need to get the crew off." Kanna nods. "Can you control the sub remotely? Otherwise, as soon as we stop the boat, they'll know something's up." Kanna checks how long they've got now until itnercept. Beowulf says, "I'm not sure how well the foaming powder would work in the seas, either." Beowulf says, "The Nautilus has a pretty good autopilot, but it can't be controlled remotely. If I left it open for psychic/magical contact, someone else could use the same contact to take it over." Kanna asks, "Sis can trump, but -that=- would blow our cover nine ways to sunday. More thinking of .... right. Actually, sis? If Bey brought us to the ship, and then parked/autopiloted the sub, could you trump us -back- to the Nautiuls if we got seperated?" The boat will now reach your position in about fifteen minutes. Beowulf exclaims, "We could always go the direct route -- surface in our disguises, and shout, 'Stand and Deliver, in the name of Pepperland!" Gabrielle asks, "No sweat, Kanna. Nasty out there?" Lian says, "I doubt they'd be willing to stop. If they even can stop, considering the storm." Beowulf says, "Heh. True. I suppose the stealthy route may be best." Beowulf says, "Though that probably won't help if they have good protective devices." He grins. "I suppose we'll just have to give it a shot and see." Kanna checks the outside again through the periscope. "Well,t here's the shadowstorm stirring up the waters.. I wouldn't want to swim in it. I'm figuring IF we manage to subdue these yahoos and knock 'em out, -then- they could be trumped to shore when they're unconcious. Trumping the enemies themselves when they're aware... again, blown cover." Kanna quirks a smile. "I get the feeling this is gonna be a -lot- of playin' by ear." She cracks her knuckles. "I can do playin' by ear." Beowulf says, "Well, it worked at the zeppelin." He grins. Lian grins briefly. "I'm good at improvising." Gabrielle pings a few times. "Hmm. Maybe I can help." Pause. "No, -beyond- turning the boat into a pillar of flame." Kanna says, "Still shoulda shot that one guy with the ring with my crossbow before he blipped out. Ahwell." She smiles. "Spilt milk. So, we're gonna go for nautilus approach and then autopilot right before we board? Then sis trumps us off when the mission's done?" Kanna asks, "Hm? Yeah, sis?" Gabrielle says, "Gimme a sec. I know a guy." Gabrielle says, ".... who's evidently asleep. Sorry, sis." Beowulf says, "Something like that, perhaps." He reaches into the bag and pulls out the grappling tool, non-monomolecular cable version. Kanna hehs. "No probs, sis." She pats the pin affectionately. Kanna considers Bey, and then has her silver ring turn into a cable with attached grappling hook. Beowulf takes a closer look at the stern of the ship, and notes the cabin back there. Lights shine through the windows. Lian eyes Bey's grappling took. "Got another of those?" Kanna OOCly says, "Now that they're closer, does thermal give a better placement of folks on the ship?" Beowulf says, "Looks like the windows are small enough that if we're careful and go up right beside the rudder, we could slip past them." Shizumaru has connected. Beowulf asks, "Well, I have another one, but it uses monomolecular thread for the grappling cable. Think you could handle that? Or would you rather ride up on one of our backs?" Lian says, "I think I'll just hitch a ride." Beowulf says, "Probably a good move. Monomolec can be a very useful tool in the right situation, very dangerous in the wrong one." Beowulf asks, "Would you rather go first, Kanna, or d'you want to go up together?" Lian says, "Any situation that has me climbing a ship on stormy sea, with strong winds blowing, is the wrong one." Five minutes to contact. Beowulf nods. "Right. We're almost there; let's be about it." Kanna nods. She then has a thought. "Lian? Will our disguises get dispelled by all that cold iron?" She then looks at bey. "We'd better go in sequence. I'll go first. I can also carry Lian... if you're stuck behind, you can still pilot the sub." Beowulf nods. Lian says, "Contact with it will rip the spells apart, yes." Beowulf hms. "That could be a problem. Drat. Is the deck covered in cold iron, or is the lining inside the deck?" Lian takes off her glasses and puts them away, then secures her braid. "Inside, as I haven't seen any iron on the outside." Beowulf nods, and puts away his own spectacles. "If we stay on deck, then, we should be fairly safe." Kanna frowns. "Damn. They'll help for distract... but the flip side is that they'll ahve problems with magic, too." She quickly secures her hair ribbon, knotting it at the base of her neck in a multiple-bow instead of letting it trail down. Beowulf grins. "Actually, if there are only five or six on deck, we could take them out, and position ourselves to get any others as they come out... the ship's controls are up top, after all." Kanna asks, "Sail it to the cove or something?" Lian says, "Get it out of the storm before we go in ... not a bad idea." Beowulf nods. "They might be able to control the rudder with the wheel ropes, but they won't be able to control the rigging. " Lian asks, "Though, can the three of us control it?" Kanna says, "we'll just have to see... 'cause we've got no more -time-." She quirks a grin. "Bey, take us up and lay your program, Lian, we've gotta get topside." Lian nods, "So, we going in disguise or not?" Kanna says, "And cast the disguises. It'll still confuse 'em." Beowulf nods, and programs the autopilot to hold the sub just behind the stern, below the surface. The boat is now starting ot pass over your position. Lian takes the statuette and concentrates, murmuring something as she points at each one in turn. Kanna holds still. Beowulf also holds still. Blink, instant Beatles. Beowulf nods. "Right." He shows them the exit hatch at the top of the conning tower, and raises the ship just enough to expose the hatch. Lian grins and puts the thing away again. "Unless it gets dispelled, it should hold for a while." Kanna looks down at herself. "Blimey. We're ninja Beatles." Kanna OOCly says, "does the illusion include voice?" Astinus says, "OOC Sure :)" Lian hums, "Teenage mutant ninja Beatles ... " Beowulf asks, "Roight, then. Everyone up, luv?" Kanna heads for the hatch. "Grab onna my back, Paul." She prepares her grappling hook. Motoko says, "OOC: Okay, Lian and Damask have _got_ to meet. :)" Lian grins and holds on to Kanna. "Aye." Kanna OOCly says, "To remind folks, Kanna==John, Beowulf == Ringo, and Lian == Paul." Kanna OOCly says, "Gaby gets to be George if she's forced to reveal herself. :)" Ringo waits for the two of them to get off the hull, then sets the autopilot and starts climbing out himself. He closes the hatch behind Kanna climbs up the ladder and opens 'da hatch, stabilizing herself. The three of you pop up and quickly climb up the side of the boat. Ringo carefully threads his way between the windows, then peeks above the edge of the deck. Kanna(John) gets to the top, and looks both ways before getting up there fully, and helping Bey and LIan up and over to the deck. Astinus asks, "OOC You're climbing up to the top of the cabin area, right?" Lian waves to her faithful lil globes to follow. Kanna(John) OOCly says, "all the way up, I beleive." Kanna(John) OOCly says, "any reasons not to?" Ringo asks, "OOC Yup; is the deck on top of that the main deck of the ship?" Astinus says, "OOC Yes, the roof of the cabin is elevated above the main deck." You clamber up to the top of the cabin. Ringo says, "OOC Hmmm. Will give us a height advantage, but might also make us easier to spot. Keep on our stomachs until we scope out the situation." Kanna(John) OOCly nods. The crew is busily keeping the ship on course, apparently oblivious to your presence. Kanna(John) OOCly says, "Any places on the raised portion for cover?" Kanna(John) OOCly says, "(the top of the cabin, that is.)" Astinus says, "OOC There is no cover up here." Kanna(John) OOCly says, "wheeee. imagine have to slip Lian up over me, then, having her keep low/stomach then, so I can get up there, and Bey. Number of crew up on top of the cabin?" The crew keeps working, sailing through the storm. Kanna(John) OOCly says, "(as opposed to the main deck.)" Ringo whispers to Kanna(John). "If we take them out right away, the ship will go off course pretty quick." There's no one on top of the cabin. Two by the wheel, four up in the rigging right now. Lian whispers, "Maybe we should get rid of the disguises. We'll be easily seen by the guys up there. The grey suits would be good camouflage, though." Ringo whispers back. "All that work for nothing... well. Let me check out the deck for a moment." Lian nods. Kanna(John) mmmms, and nods, whispering back. ".. with visibility as it is... yeah. think we can get down from the top of the cabin by moving towards the front and sneak in without being spotted further?" Ringo takes a look at the deck, looking for hiding places. Kanna(John) OOCly says, "we're all no longer hanging from the back of the ship, yes?" Astinus says, "OOC You're on your stomachs on the top of the cabin." Ringo whispers, "We could probably make it to about the middle of the deck before they'd notice us." Kanna(John) OOCly nods. Ringo whispers, "We could probably even get to the rear cargo hatch without being spotted." Lian points at the deck under them. "Maybe we should check out the cabin first?" Ringo whispers, "Except that we are pretty sure the cabin's occupied." Kanna(John) reclaims her grappling hook + cable, changing it back to its ring form, ready on her hand. She whispers, "let's move for the hatch, and hope they're not guarding. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, anyway." Ringo nods in agreement. "Better dispell the disguises, then," he whispers, "to make us harder to see." Kanna(John) sighs, and quirks a smile beneath her moustache. *whispered* "and here i wanted to get some fish 'n chips." Lian draws her sword and touches everyone with it. Beowulf whispers, "Pity that, luv. We'll have 'ta look some up when we get back ta town." Kanna manages not to giggle, then steels her expression. "Let's move," she whisperes. Beowulf whispers to the others. "Let me go first; I'm fairly good at stealthy movement." Kanna nods. Lian nods. Lian puts her blade back into its scabbard and waits. Beowulf slips down the side of the cabin and starts moving towards the hatch, sticking to whatever cover he can find, and also staying out of the line of sight of the cabin door as best he can. You reach the hatch. It's been latched shut, but is not locked. Beowulf attempts to open the latch, lift the hatch slightly, and peer inside. Kanna keeps watch on the six up top while beowulf sneaks about. You see a dimly lit storage hold full of crates and barrels and monks in saffron robes. One of them looks up at you. He begins shouting in Siamese. Beowulf quickly lowers the hatch and scoots to the nearest cover, then gets ready to pick off any that come through the hatch with the whip, trusting to the folks on the cabin roof to cover his back. The fore storage hatch pops open and monks begin to boil out. The rear storage hatch pops up and two monks pop up only to get whacked with Beowulf's whip, howl, and fall back down inside. Astinus says, "OOC Okay pose order is--" Astinus says, "OOC Beowulf, Kanna, Lian, Ship People" Astinus says, "OOC Mad Travis Man, you're up." Lian whispers to Kanna, "Looks like he found trouble. Or trouble found him." Her hand goes to a short metal rod carved with intricate designs, freeing it from the harness. Beowulf looks for a spot where he is covered from hand-to-hand attacks as best as possible, while using the whip to toss monks into each other and slow them down. Kanna winces a bit, and has her one ring turn into the air-dart gun, while the other becomes a pistol crossbow, nodding to Lian. She starts opening fire to cover Bey, with crossbow and dart gun shooting tranq-darts. Lian calmly draws her sword with her free hand, looking intently at the closest monks, then gestures with the rod at one of them. You page, "... saffron robes... wheee..." to Chris and The_Prof. Chris pages, "If we're lucky, they're crazy cultists. If not, they belong to some legitimate religious order." to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Siamese monks. o.o This could be trouble; you'd probably fare fairly well against 'em, strength goddess, but I won't do too well hand-to-hand." to you and Chris. You page, "Wheeee." to Chris and The_Prof. Somewhere on the muck, Foxtrot has connected. Beowulf smiles and gives Trish a back rub. "How's it going?" Beowulf DOH! Moriya OOCly points and laughs at Prof. Astinus says, "OOC Now we see what he thinks about in Battle :)" Kanna OOCly snrks. After a few more Beo-whippings, the monks give up trying to use the cargo hatch close to you. Monks charge across the deck. Beowulf picks off some, Kanna mows down others with the knock out darts. They begin to slow down as the drugs work into their system. Some others get whipped by Lian. Lian . o O ( And that last Kanna was probably supposed to be a Lian? :) ) Yes, it's Lian whipping monks. DOH Kanna OOCly says, "Interesting hobbies, Lian...." The crew of the boat continue steering despite the battle as they don't want the ship to founder. Chris pages, "Feh. Bey's much better with a whip than Lian, Phil. :)" to you and The_Prof. Beowulf continues to use the whip to trip up and otherwise slow down the monks. Kanna prepares herself to to be ready to go to hand-to-hand, shifting the crossbow into a right-handed gauntlet over her right hand, still firing darts... once they get to hand-to-hand range (if trying to reach her and Lian for grappling), she changes the dart gun back into its ring form on her left hand, and pulls out her Tonfa, ready to go to town on them to incapacitate them. Lian pulls back a bit to stay out of hand-to-hand range, still using her 'whip' to spread some Major Pain. You page, "Mmmm. "Noteable Skill: Tonfa"." to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Heh. Notable skills: Whip. Whip disarm. Whip, non-weapon uses (i.e. swinging across the stage). :)" to you and Chris. In a page-pose to you and The_Prof, Chris grins. "No noteable weapon skills for me, unfortuantely. (at least until we get to a shadow where guns work ;) ) You page, "Well< I have Marksmanship in general... *wg*" to Chris and The_Prof. Chris pages, "Always a good idea." to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Well, I went for specialization on the whip, since it would make it more effective." to you and Chris. Chris pages, "Bey is certainly very effective with it." to you and The_Prof. Lian then calls her lil globes to battle. "Minions, attack!" The globes dart forward, beginning to hail down darts on the monks. Some of the monks manage to leap up onto the top of the cabin. Many of them have gone down from the hail of darts and whippings. The_Prof pages, "The Tonfa's the pole with the sphere on the end?" to you. You page, "No, that's Kanna's staff." to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Huh. So what's the Tonfa?" to you. You page, "Kanna's staff and sabre can turn into Tonfa, which... elrl, look at http://www.eyrie.org/~aerianne/dld/amber/refs/Kanna.ref2.jpg down in the lower right-hand corner." to The_Prof. You page, "What Kanna's holding ghere are Tonfa." to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Ah, those. Knew what they were, didn't know the name for them." to you. The rest continue to press forward. Meanwhile, the crew continues to blissfully steer the boat. Beowulf asks, "OOC How many are left, or can I tell?" There's about eight monks down below, and four up above. And lots of unfortunate knocked out monks. Beowulf sees if he can knock one or two monks into the cabin-top monks with the whip, while using it to keep the others at bay. Kanna moves to intercept the four up above, parrying any blows they may attempt with her Tonfa (that Lian isn't already taking care of), before jumping down to help Bey with the remaining eight down on the main deck. Lian whispers a word, and mist gathers around her sword, forming into a thin blade of ice around the original blade. She holds it ready should one of the monks get too close while she tries to keep them away with the whip. Beowulf attempts this, but physics work against him. It does fling the two monks over against the cabin and out of reach of him, though. Meanwhile, three monks manage to close to hand to hand as he tries this. They begin kicking Beowulf's ass, knocking his whip away and pulling him down to the deck. They seem to be wearing 'cold-iron knuckles'. Kanna and Lian between them begin whooping ass on the unfortunate monks up above. Soon, only one of the four is left standing. Meanwhile, the Yellow Submarine quietly begins sinking out of sight for no apparent reason. Akemi pages, "If you leave the last monk for Lian to handle, you have a clear shot to jump down." to you. You page, "Time to jump down, yes. Gotta help bey, and hopefully that was the Yellow Submarine doing what it was -supposed- to do...." to Akemi. You page, "Still doing the expected page order?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "nods" to you. You page, "So, it's bey's turn!" to Akemi. You page, "I think it's your turn... *wg*" to The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "I know, trying to figure options." to you. You page, "Well, Kanna's soon to come to the rescue, so we'll see. But yes, being beat up by three monks doesn't help. *wl*" to The_Prof. Beowulf pulls a knockout capsule out of his pocket and uses his suited elbow to break it into a monk's skin. Chris pages, "Better living through alchemy, Prof? :)" to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Ayup. :) Trying to figure out what I had that I could actually *reach*." to you and Chris. Kanna sprints off the top of the cabin and leaps for the main deck, running the rest of the way across to Bey's position, Tonfa ready to help enhance her blows as she attacks the remaining monks trying to tackle Bey. Lian turns to the last monk remaining on top, attacking with whip and sword. If he goes down fast enough, she'll support Kanna and Bey with some far whippin'. The_Prof pages, "Hey, hope you didn't leave Lian defenceless! :)" to you and Chris. Chris pages, "She still has Major Pain and General Mayhem. :)" to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Heh." to you and Chris. You page, "Kanna figured Lian could handle the last one. :)" to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Well, we'll find out..." to you and Chris. Knockout drugs flow into the monk's system. He begins to get woozy. Meanwhile, he and his two friends continue beating Beowulf down. Beowulf feels his nose quietly break and is getting pretty groggy. Kanna drops down, and three more monks attack her. She quickly batters them aside, and then two more jump onto her from behind. Meanwhile, up above, Lian whips the remaining monk, but he remains conscious enough to crash into her. She and he go flying off the top of the deck towards the turbulent ocean below. Chris pages, "This ... is not good." to you and The_Prof. You page, "Whupsie. :/ *facepalm*" to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Ack. Yes." to you and Chris. Beowulf uses another knockout capsule on a second monk. You page, "How can I get the two off of Kanna's back, given they're trying to grapple?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "You could just whack their heads with your big club thing. Or you could try grabbing one with each arm and rolling forward, tossing them overyourself. Or you could try backing into the cabin wall repeatedly, using them as shock absorbers." to you. Chris pages, "Okay, next version of combat suits has flight capability. u.u;" to you and The_Prof. You page, "Need to keep Kanna moving... right, I've got the plan." to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Pose at will." to you. The_Prof pages, "Ayup. " to you and Chris. Kanna has her gauntlet shift back to ring as her tonfa change into gauntlets now. She grabs the two monks on her back with each arm and rolls forward to toss them over herself, not particularly bothering to restrain how tight she grips. Meanwhile, she mentally yells to her manifestation, You page, "Aren't we glad we came along? *wg*" to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Heh. Yup." to you and Chris. Lian turns off the blade spell and pushes the monk away on her way down, if necessary with the sword, so she can get into a position that won't hurt too much when she hits the water. The_Prof pages, "And now, at least, we have more evidence of the Siamese/KTC alliance..." to you and Chris. Chris pages, "Let's get off the ship and just blow it up. :P" to you and The_Prof. You page, "Check the cargo, then Boom, yes." to Chris and The_Prof. The monk lands several nasty punches into Lian's gut as they fall, doubling her up. Her efforts to push him away fail. However, he finishes passing out when you both hit the water. Up on the deck, Beowulf knocks out another monk, then is battered unconscious by the remaining monk. Kanna flips both the monks off her; they skid across the deck, then stagger to their feet, wobbling. The_Prof pages, "Ayup. We just need to make sure we've got someplace safe to trump back to... I don't like the way the sub sank." to you and Chris. You page, "Provided we dont' keep getting Fighting Monks. And we do... That wasn't autopilot?" to Chris and The_Prof. Chris pages, "I hate monks. I really hat emonks." to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Nope. I'd programmed it to keep station on the ship." to you and Chris. Shizumaru pages, "Why didn't you just blow up the damn ship? o.O" to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "We couldn't scan the ship to make sure it was the opium ship; they'd lined the entire ship with cold iron. o.o" to you and Shizumaru. Shizumaru pages, "So? Just blow it up like Nanami told you to. o.o" to you and The_Prof. Kanna snarls at the monks, and her Right-hand gauntlet changes into her staff, and she charges the two monks to knock them out with the staff before checking on Beowulf. Kanna will knock out the one beating up Bey, too. You page, "Perhaps 'cause we're not ALL trigger-happy folks? *wg*" to Shizumaru and The_Prof. Lian spits water, cursing monks in general and saffron-robed monks specifically as she tries not to drown. In a page-pose to you and The_Prof, Shizumaru snorts. The_Prof pages, "Also, Bey's way too curious. :)" to you and Shizumaru. You page-pose, "Aerianne chuckles." to Shizumaru and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Actually, though, if the ship's lined with cold iron, would blowing it up even work?" to you and Shizumaru. You page, "Point. Hrm. Magical would be kinda difficult." to Shizumaru and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "The sub would probably have gone 'poof' as soon as it rammed the ship." to you and Shizumaru. Shizumaru pages, "Feh. Moriya, some good scuba gear, his sword, and a trump to escape--in and out in fifteen minutes." to you and The_Prof. You page, "Yeah, well, we -all- can't be wargods...." to Shizumaru and The_Prof. Shizumaru pages, "Okay. Kanna, some good scuba gear, her bare hands, and a trump to escape. :)" to you and The_Prof. Kanna whoops Monk ass. Unfortunately, by the time she finishes whooping Monk ass, the monk by Beowulf has picked him up and hurled him over the side into the water. The crew of the boat continues to blissfully sail on as if a battle was not in progress. They don't even bother to look. The_Prof pages, "Mind-controlled?!? o.O" to you and Chris. Chris pages, "MAybe." to you and The_Prof. Chris pages, "Or zombies." to you and The_Prof. Chris pages, "Nothing good, in any case." to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Either one bad, yup." to you and Chris. Akemi pages, "Go ahead and pose; Beowulf is unconscious." to you. You page, "Lesse. Bey's unconcious and tossed overboard, so if I want to keep bey alive, jump over and grab him and have sis trump me back onboard? What about Lian? I thought Kanna asked Gaby to trump her back up top." to Akemi. Akemi pages, "You could try grabbing his whip and snaring his foot with it and fishing him out of the water." to you. Akemi pages, "Well, either Gaby failed or it's taking a while." to you. You page, "Right. *wl* If the whip doesn't work, then she'll have to jump in and fish him out." to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Go ahead and spoof it." to you. Kanna finally exclaims "FUCK!", and snarls at the last monk, battering him aside. She grabs up Bey's whip, and tries to whip to catch his foot to pull him out of the water. If that doesn't work, then it'll be time for herself to swim, she suspects. You page, "Yeah, that's just really odd for the boat being piloted yes." to Chris and The_Prof. You page-pose, "Aerianne fehs, and should have had Kanna KO the one over -bey- first, not the other two. :P" to Chris and The_Prof. Chris pages, "That would have been good, yes. :)" to you and The_Prof. You page-pose, "Aerianne whaps himself. Kanna no BAKA..." to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Ayup. Oh, well." to you and Chris. Chris pages, "As long as we survive it ... One learns from mistakes. :)" to you and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "Ayup. :)" to you and Chris. You page-pose, "Aerianne nods. One should -hope- we survive it... And I hope to hoek we have no more monks... *wl*" to Chris and The_Prof. The_Prof pages, "'You have the capability to learn from mistakes. You'll learn a lot today.' -- Fortune cookie from humor files." to you and Chris. Kanna batters the monk aside, and then grabs the whip. It snags Beowulf's foot and Kanna begins to fish him in. Lian appears near Kanna in a puff of flame. The_Prof pages, "I'm more worried about the folks in the cabin at the moment." to you and Chris. Kanna mutters "don' mind me, fishin' for prof's, here..." under her breath as she hauls Bey out of the water and onto the deck. Kanna starts checking over Bey to make sure he hasn't done something sucky like drowned, while on-guard to KO any monks who may suddenly appear. Beowulf is undrowned, just knocked out, as you caught him quickly. The crew continues operating the boat. Kanna phews, and frowns. "... I do -not- like that crew." She glances over at Lian. "You okay?" Lian takes a deep breath, still dripping water, and nods. Suddenly she tenses. "Magic down below in the holds. Better be careful. It -might- just be a teleport ... could be worse." Kanna tries to gauge how much time has passed since they boarded, and how much closer this means for them until they reach amberport proper. "Shit." She gathers up Bey in her arms. Lian half-closes her eyes as she concentrates. "Pretty big pulse ... but it stayed down there. I wouldn't be surprised if all the evidence you wanted to find is gone now." Kanna OOCly says, "All the monks on-deck are KO'd?" Astinus says, "OOC Yep. All monks knocked out." The crew keeps sailing along. Lian walks over to Kanna and Bey, quickly looking him over. Kanna OOCly goes over her tactical options. Well, the cargo prolly got teleported out to where they wanted. Damn. :P Anything ELSE left for this ship that we can do aside from blowing it sky-high in frustration? Kanna OOCly says, "Wait. How the hell did they teleport when there was that much cold iron?" Moriya OOCly says, "Which is exactly what you should have just done from the beginning. ;)" Lian . o O ( OOC Might not have been a teleport. Might have been a destructive spell. Or something completely different. ) Kanna pauses. "Waitasec. How did they teleport with all that cold iron?" She holds Bey so that he can be examined. She sighs, muttering something self-depreciating under her breath. Lian hms as she looks Bey over. "Might not have been a teleport. I just know that it was down there, and fairly big as far as magical effects go." Kanna asks, "Check just to make sure? Then blow this damn thing for its trouble?" Lian says, "First get Bey back on his feet. Then check, then blow up." Kanna nods. It is notable that the hatches are both open And that therefore the cold iron barriers have two large holes in them, and thus no longer would effectively block teleporting. Kanna would facepalm if she wasn't holding bey. Kanna settles for a round of cursing. Lian hms again and touches Bey, concentrating as she invokes healing energies. Kanna considers. "Could you try tracking the destination, given the amount of energy?" Beowulf wakes up, feeling tired, but consciuos. Beowulf groans... "Nanami's gonna read us the riot act tomorrow, I'm afraid." Lian says, "I can try to check for traces, at least." Gabrielle pings. "Don't think this was a teleport, gang." Kanna helps support Bey, and winces. "Yeah. Unless we can track down where the hell the fucking stuff went." She tilts her head. "Eh?" Gabrielle says, "It was _BIG_ , but no mass moved in or out." Lian nods after a moment. "Gabrielle's right." Beowulf says, "How useful would it be to see exactly what happened? I've still got... oh." Kanna pauses. "Cloaking?" Lian says, "We can go and check." Beowulf says, "Or something worse." Kanna glances at Bey. "Define 'worse'." Lian says, "Assume the worst." Lian straightens and calls any remaining globes to her. Kanna helps support bey. "You able to keep going?" Kanna hands bey his whip while she's at it. Beowulf says, "Tell you what... do we have a mirrored surface? Use that to look into the hold, instead of poking bits of us over." You page, "Would Kanna's sheild-forms of her weapons be mirror enough?" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Hrm. Probably not, as they're not deisgned as mirrors" to you. Lian waves one of the globes close, then whispers to it, giving it orders. The flying globe flies down. A little time passes. It flies up and says, "It's full of crates and barrels." Beowulf asks, "Crates and barrels that have been changed into something else? Non-opium?" He pauses for a second. "Explosive?" Lian says, "Want to try it? I'd prefer to get out of here and just blow the ship up." Beowulf looks back towards the cabin. "Are the lights still on?" Kanna says, "Let's blow this thing. Given the way the crew's been acting, ie, NOT AT ALL REACTING...." She glares at the crewmembers there. You page, "Yes, Kanna's starting to feel wary. The crew, and the transformation(?) of the cargo into something else.... something makes her feel 'hey, it's a bomb headed for the harbor'...." to Akemi. Beowulf says, "I don't like this. But I'm not sure what else to do." He goes to the side and sees if he can still see the sub, or whether it's sunken too far to be seen. The sub's sunk out of sight. Lian nods to Kanna, "That's strange, yes ... " You page, "Any other options, particularly? It's getting late here, and I'm starting to feel out of options. :P" to Akemi. Akemi pages, "Well, you still haven't actually tried looking inside a crate... :)" to you. You page, "Yes, but with eevrything -else-... how close are the crates to the hatches?" to Akemi. Lian reaches out at a crewman with a whip tendril. The crewman suddenly keels over dead, evn though it only poked him gently. Kanna says, "... erm." Lian frowns. "He shouldn't do that, you know." Kanna says, "Right. That's just freaky." Beowulf says, "Someone needs to check out the sub, make sure we won't get in trouble if Gab trumps us to it." The storm begins to pick up. Beowulf says, "Kanna, if you could have Gabby trump me there, I can check it out, and hold a trump of you ready to trump out if it goes wrong." Lian walks over to another crewman and around him, looking at him but not touching. "Your sub, you know it best." Kanna says, "Sis, can you open a trump gate to the interior hatch of the sub, if it's not flooded?" The crew member continues his work. When you walk right in front of him, he blinks at you, but keeps about his work of steering the boat. Lian suddenly spins around, looking toward the cabin. He doesn't look like the captain though, just Joe Sailor. No sign of an actual officer, in fact. Gabrielle pingpingpingpings. "Magic!" Kanna exclaims, "Shit!" Gabrielle says, "And the subs filling with water. Stupid, stupid water." Beowulf growls. "I closed the hatch!" Kanna says, "Sis? Be ready to trump us back to our horses, I think the sub's a wash. PArt of me wants to check at least one crate, and the REST of me wants to get the fuck outta here and blow this thing." She frowns up at the storm, and then looks over at Lian. "You got something?" Lian says slowly, "Magic by the cabin ... " The boat rocks and Beowulf topples over the railing, much to his surprise, as a large wave hits the ship. TimeRunner has arrived. Nausicaa says, "OOC Geh." Kanna GRABS for Beowulf. "NOT again!" In the far, far distance, you hear a massive boom. The_Prof pages, "...Rebma returning." to you and Chris. You page, "Wow. we get psuedo ringside seats. From a distance." to Chris and The_Prof. Nausicaa says, "OOC hi, guys" Moriya OOCly says, "j0." Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly yoyo" Beowulf OOCly says, "Yo." Kanna tries to grab Beowulf and fails. He plunges into the water, and a wave begins to wash him away. The ocean level begins to drop. Rod pages, "well, so far kanna and wulf are having a shaft-esque messy adventure :)" to you. You page, "... wheee. ^_-;" to Rod. Beowulf manages to lash out with his whip and grab the railing. Lian grabs onto the nearest thing she can hold on to. You page, "Can I try whipping him again? Kanna's ring can serve as whip, too..." to Akemi. Kanna grabs onto the railing, and tries to help him up, again. "FUCK!" Beowulf starts to pull himself up, bracing himself against the ship, looking for a handhold if the whip lets go. Gabrielle exclaims, "Storms getting worse, sis! And there's a _big_ magic buildup in the cabin!" You can see a really big ass wave coming. Beowulf exclaims, "Get us out of here!" Kanna exclaims, "SIS! TRUMP US *OUTTA* HERE! BACK TO THE HORSES!" The railing breaks and Beowulf sinks beneath the water. He tries to grab for handholds, but the ship crumbles as he tries to grip at it, revealing sheer metal under the wood. Lian suddenly looks up. "This will go BOOM soon! Get us out of here!" Trump portals form under each of you right as an AKIRA spell goes off. Kanna OOCly says, "Okay, So Bey's just gone underwater AGAIN, and... ah, PHEW." Moriya OOCly says, "Good heavens." Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly Wreck Shit quotent filled :)" you all drop through them. Kanna and Lian get lightly toasted. Beowulf is unhurt because he's gone before the explosion can reach him. Kanna jumps, trusting in her sis to get Bey and Lian as well. Beowulf OOCly says, "Well, at least the ship's gone..." Nausicaa says, "OOC An AKIRA spell. Whoo." You find yourself up in the observatory room of the Lighthouse of Cabra Kanna tumbles out, and rolls. "... Goood... FUCKING Pyricorn!" Beowulf blinks. "My. This has been an interesting night." Nausicaa says, "OOC Haven't been getting enough sleep. Three words -- black and white. ^^;" >From here, you can see the shadow storm is going wild. Nagisa is up here in his bathrobe, staring out at the ocean. And a red streak erupts out of the distant water into the sky. Beowulf looks around to see who's there. Kanna glances about, quickly, and heads for the windows of the observatory to see... ".... ohmigod." Kanna patternsights the red streak. Lian comes up in a crouch, looking around with whip in hand. Slowly she relaxes, and stands up again to look at the red streak. Gabrielle manifests out of Mjolnir. "Yo, Waterchild." Akemi pages, "Full of Patterny goodness" to you. Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly ...." Nagisa smiles at Gabrielle. "The Angel of Fire. Good day." Beowulf uses the spectacles to look in that direction. Gabrielle asks, "Sorry to drop in unaannounced, bu- what the HELL?" Kanna -stares-... "Whatever the fuck that red thing is.... it's Pattern Charged.... Good Pyricorn..." Kanna OOCly says, "Yup! Ringside seats!" Beowulf smiles at Nagisa. "Or the firey angel? Well deserved, either title." A massive wave breaks against the lighthouse. But it stands firm through the tide. Kanna braces herself, and keeps watching. Beowulf looks out the window with interest, as there isn't much of anything he can do at the moment. The red streak vanishes out of sight. Kanna tries to track the streak. "Sis! Can you track that?" The sea surges a second time, and then, weirdly, it tidal waves in reverse, back the way it came. Beowulf blinks again. "...now, that *is* interesting." Lian asks, "... what could cause such a phenomenon?" Gabrielle shakes her head. "It blew out into Shadow. FAST." Nagisa says, "I think that came out of Rebma." And then the shadow storm begins to die down. Kanna says, ".... out of...." She blinks. "Shit... could -that- have been...." Kanna stares at the storms. "... the storms... they're dying down?" Lian says, "... but that would mean ..." Gabrielle says, "The Eye of Water? No, I'd have recognized -THAT-." Nausicaa says, "OOC If I didn't OOCly know it was with Jac, I'd say that was the Jewel, going on a joyride." Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly it was the jewel going on a joyride :)" Nuclear Powered Jacqueline says, "OOCly it just dragged me with it" Nausicaa says, "OOC Oh, bloody hell. ^^;" Kanna shakes her head. "No, wasn't there rumors that the Jewel of Judgement had ended up down the hole?" Beowulf says, "Pattern-charged... hm." Beowulf nods to Kanna. "Yes, I think you're right." Gabrielle pauses. "Damn." Nagisa yawns. "So what brings you all here?" Beowulf shrugs. "A little evening jaunt." Kanna says, ".... sunofavbitch goddamn." She coughs, and shakes her head. "Master of Understatement, Bey." Lian grins briefly, still contemplating the ocean view. Gabrielle ahehs, and puts one hand behind her head. "We certainly weren't going pirating in the storm, if that's what you mean." Beowulf says, "Well, I am a bit annoyed at the cleanup work that's going to come... but that's for later, I guess." Kanna politely elbows Gabrielle. Kanna says, "If there's anything -left- of it..." She looks out over the ocean again, trying to see how far the storms are clearing. Beowulf looks at Nagisa. "Cousin? Next time you hear me talking about going on an ocean trip into a shadow storm... remind me of tonight, will you?" Kanna mumbles, under her breath, "'sides it blew itself up. not our fault." Rod pages, "shades of 'it's not my fault!' :)" to you. Lian chuckles softly. "What, Bey ... did you not like the excitement? The adventure?" Nagisa laughs. "I will." Nagisa smiles. "Certainly, Cousin." Moriya OOCly says, "Night, folks." Somewhere on the muck, Foxtrot has disconnected. Nausicaa says, "OOC Wait... cousin? ^^;" Astinus says, "OOC Beowulf is Wakaba's Kid" Astinus says, "OOC Therefore he and Nagisa are cousins." Moriya OOCly says, "Beowulf and Kanna are in the same generation as the Children of the Elements." Kanna OOCly says, "Eyup." Nausicaa says, "OOC Oh, yeah, right. ^^; Through Rinaldo." Beowulf says, "OOC Nope, actually... a long time before Rinaldo. Father unknown." Astinus says, "OOC Kentaro is the kid of Wakaba and Rinaldo." Beowulf looks back at Lian. "Well, yes, but I prefer not having our boat sink under us." Nagisa says. "Well, if you'd like to just sleep here tonight, I have plenty of guest rooms. It's rather late for more travelling." Kanna chuckles a bit, and scratches her cheek. She then purses her lips, and looks out at the waters again. "I... think I'd be good for that, myself. Thanks, Cousin Nagisa." Lian says, "Some rest would be nice ... it was a rough evening." Beowulf bows to Nagisa. "Indeed. Thank you, cousin, and a most hospitable offer." Gabrielle says, "Thanks, Waterchild. I knew we could count on your hospitality." Grin. Kanna nods. "We can report to Aunt Nanami in the morning." ======================================= =======================================
