Name:   Ranma
Psyche:  6th--5
Warfare:  4th--24
Strength: 1st--50
Endurance:  2--30

Auctions Won:
Eldest Son--20, Admiral of Shalomar--12

Powers:
Pattern: 50 points

Allies: [10 points spent]
Ranma bought one spin on the Wheel of Allies.  He got Lord Bayle, Royal Vintner, as his ally.

Stuff:
1 point of Bad Stuff.  Ranma is just slightly unlucky.

Background:

Ranma is the eldest son of Oberon and Sakura of Catala, his first wife.  He was raised to be a warrior king , but showed more talent for hand to hand combat than for leading armies, although he did develop quite a bit of skill in that regard.  He also showed more promise as a leader of navies than armies, although his major naval innovation was the use of clawed bridges which could be used to turn ship to ship battles into hand to hand combat.  After his mother's departure of the court, he went out into Shadow for a time, during which he travelled to hundreds, maybe thousands of Shadows, mastering every known form of unarmed combat.  He returned centuries later, at which point Oberon beat him down for leaving.  To everyone's surprise, he then reappointed Ranma as commander of the Shalomar navy, a post he has held ever since.

Ranma acquired the allegiance of his ally, Lord Bayle, during Lord Bayle's term of service in the Royal Navy as Ranma's second in command.  Lord Bayle controls the first port along the northern coast which is under the authority of Ranma's fleet, and he has extensive vinyards which produce some of the finest wine in Amber.  His current second in command is Lord Perry, a skillful commander, but one who tends to rash actions...rather like Ranma himself.

Name:   Ryouga
Psyche: 7th--Amber
Warfare: 3rd--25
Strength: 2nd--45
Endurance: 1st--32

Auctions Won:
Queen Anthy's Favorite--13, Warden of Arden--22

Powers:
Pattern: 50

Items:  [18 points]

Ryouga's Bandanas:  3
--Mold Shadow Stuff (makes more bandannas so he can throw lots at once): 1
--Double Damage: 2

Ryouga's Umbrella: 8
--Deadly Damage: 4
--Invulnerable to Conventional Weapons: 4

Shirokuro: 7
--Seek in Shadow: 4
--Chaos Vitality: 2
--Able to Speak: 1

Shirokuro is Ryouga's talking dog, who can move independently through Shadow to find people--he usually gets her to act as a message carrier.

Stuff:
5 points of Bad Stuff.  Ryouga is rather unlucky, easily depressed, and easily angered so he has made a fair number of enemies over the years.

Background:

Ryouga is one of the younger children of Oberon, the eldest child of Lorelei of Therin.  He spent a lot of time as a child being illtreated by his elder siblings, many of whom were technically illegitimate at the time and resented his favored status.  The result was that he grew up to be easily depressed and frequently cranky, disliking most of his siblings, especially the male ones, to a greater or lesser degree.  He became tough and strong, pressing himself to exceed them in fighting skill in order to give back to them what they gave to him.  He had a great deal of success, as only Ranma, who is centuries older, exceeds him in fighting skill, and only Tenchi and Makoto pass him in warfare.

When he came to maturity, he challenged Saionji for the right to be the Warden of Arden and won, beating him in tests of hunting skill, warfare, and combat designed by their father.  He has had an especially bad relationship with Saionji ever since.  Ryouga spends a lot of his time in Arden, avoiding his siblings.

It remains debated among the various siblings as to why Queen Anthy seems to prefer him over her own children as an heir to the throne, although the usual belief is that she thinks her own children lack sufficient experience.  She seems to treat him as her own child and is one of the people most able to soothe his fits of depression.

Shirokuro and his weapons are gifts given to him by his mother before her boating accident.  He has had Shirokuro since he was a small child, while the weaponry was given him as a present upon winning his current post.

Much to Nabiki's incredible luck, she has gotten Juri as her ally.  Having a swordmistress in her corner will be handy.

Stuff:
Zero Stuff.  Nabiki makes her own luck.

Background:
Nabiki was originally illegitimate, but since virtually all of Oberon's children have held that status legally at some point in time, this is not necessarily any bar to the throne.  While Oberon was married to Haruka of Harad, her mother, Michiko of Nerima, was one of Oberon's mistresses.  (Rumors whisper that Michiko's sister Michiru was Haruka's lover at that time as well.  This remains disputed.)  Michiko was married to Count Soun of Nerima at the time, and for years, Nabiki was regarded legally as Soun's daughter, until Oberon showed up one day and had her walk the Pattern, proving her descent from him.  Count Soun attempted to kill Oberon, who killed him; Nabiki didn't mind since Soun had always suspected she was really Oberon's daughter, and had treated her poorly.  Michiko has since died, and Nabiki is officially Countess of Nerima.

Juri and Nabiki were both born and grew up during the decades of brutal warfare with the Cimbri in the Plains of Harad, and both served in the armies together at that time.  Nabiki rose swiftly among the ranks of the royal military spy network, while Juri rose eventually to command the armies which won the war.  Intelligence gathered by Nabiki and her agents were crucial to the victory of Amber's forces over the Cimbri, and on one occassion enabled her to save Juri's life from Cimbri assassins.  They developed a strong friendship which tends to surprise most observers of the two, for they are not much alike.

After the war, Oberon revealed Nabiki's heritage (as described above), legitimized her, and appointed her as head of the Ambassadorial Corps.  Her good work there eventually led to her elevation to the secret rank of Spymistress, and to her official job as Lord High Chamberlain of Amber.  It's public knowledge that she's Oberon's favorite child, and this is usually considered to be because she is as sneaky and devious as he is.  At the same time, she can be quite generous to her friends, which has helped to give her a balanced reputation.

Nabiki is known to have a rivalry with the Court Magist because Nabiki is actually a better sorceress, which Lina refuses to admit.

Name: Usagi
Psyche: 2nd--28
Warfare: 6th--7
Strength: 6th--9
Endurance: 5th--11

Auctions Won:

Powers:
Sorcery: 15
Trump Artist: 40

Blood:
Blood of Amber: 6.  Usagi is a child of Oberon, but has yet to walk the Pattern.

Items:
Usagi's Rose Heart Brooch: 2
--Rack 12 spells: 2

Allies: [30 points]
Usagi has her brother Miki, Kasumi the Head Chambermaid, and Lina the Court Magist as allies.

Stuff:
5 points of Good Stuff.  People tend to like Usagi and the universe likes her.

Background:

Usagi has had what can only be described as an unusual upbringing.  Her own mother, Rei of Rebma, having produced a son and not enjoyed the experience, decided to have her aborted.  Dworkin, however, saved her life by stealing her out of her mother's womb and transferring her into the womb of a woman in Shadow whose child would have been stillborn.  She thus grew up away from the Court of Amber, raised by her Shadow 'mother' Ikuko, and Shadow 'father' Kenji, with frequent visits from 'Grand-Uncle Daisuke' (aka Dworkin), who taught her the art of Trump.  In time, that shadow came under attack by Chaos, and her superior talents eventually elevated her to the role of Queen.  Her high Psyche gave her ludicrously powerful magical abilities there, and she ruled for many years, finally abdicating and passing on her duties to her daughter.  Dworkin then came to her and took her to Amber, which was in the middle of a naval war with the Silurians.  She sailed right into the middle of a battle on her way to Amber, rallied the Amberite fleet, and led it to victory.  On her triumphant return, Oberon appointed her Admiral of the Mystara Fleet.  She has since passed on direct command of that fleet to one of her close Amberite friends, Lady Naru of Osaka, and has become Chamberlain of the City of Amber, whose crime and corruption she constantly struggles with.

Usagi makes friends easily; Kasumi, Lina, and her brother Miki are her three closest friends.  She is still married to a man named Mamoru, who was King to her Queen back in the Shadow they once ruled together.  The source of his longevity remains unknown.

Name: Makoto
Psyche: 5th--8
Warfare: 2nd--30
Strength: 3rd--30
Endurance: 3rd--19

Auctions Won:
Sparky's Favorite--5, Castellan of Castle Amber--17, Werewindle--10

Pattern: 50
Power Words: 10  (Process Snuff, Thunder, Light Strobe, Lifeforce, Neural Disrupt)

Allies: 10
Duke Crumpet of Avesbury

Shadow:  6
Gaullia
Location:  Way out in shadow--1
Control:  Control of Contents--1
Defenses:  Guarded--4

Makoto's shadow is similar to Ancien Regime France, where she is a noblewoman of reknown in the court whose misadventures are legendary.  She also operates there as a masked swordswoman, doing heroic deeds.  If need be, she can use her control of contents to take control of the shadow and mobilize its resources for war.  It is guarded by elite swordsmen.

Stuff:
3 points of Good Stuff.  People tend to like Makoto, and things tend to go her way.  Except in her love life, but luck can only carry you so far.

Background:
Makoto was the eldest daughter of Yvette of Monde and Oberon, conceived out of wedlock, but born in it.  She was a rambunctious tomboy as a child, growing up in a court full of warriors.  She always wanted to be a warrior, but was raised to be someone's bride instead; it was at this time that she learned several power words for self defense.  She was too unacademically oriented to progress further in magic, however.

Much to her fortune, her marriage to King Ken of Eregnor became a love match, and she lived happily in Eregnor for many years.  However, Eregnor came under increasing assault from the Cimbri, and then at the battle of Bree Pass, the Eregnor army was abandoned by its erstwhile allies, Begma and Kashfa, and destroyed.  The two nations divided Eregnor between themselves, only to fall to the Cimbri in turn.  Makoto fled to Amber and tried to get help, but Oberon allowed the Cimbrian conquests to continue unchecked so that he could eventually frighten the ruler of Harad into giving him the heiress to Harad, Haruka, as his next wife.  Angered, Makoto departed into Shadow to try to raise an army to rescue Eregnor.  This proved harder than she had hoped.  Things took a turn for the worse, and she spent many years wandering about Shadow, having adventures remembered more fondly in retrospect than at the time.  It was at this time that she found Werewindle, under circumstances she has never explained clearly.  She decided to train herself as a warrior, and spent decades learning how to fight with and without weapons, rising repeatedly to rule various kingdoms and gaining a greater appreciation of why her father had done many of the things he did.  Her good nature gradually returned, and eventually, she returned to Amber, leading a vast army out of Shadow during the invasion of the Moon Riders from Ganesh.  Her army fell on them from the rear and destroyed them, and Oberon welcomed her back to Amber, appointing her as Castellan of Castle Amber.

Makoto has a way with animals and plants, which both flourish under her care; Sparky seems to sense this and allows her to ride him.  Her ally Lord Crumpet is believed to have fallen in love with her, although it's unknown if she returns his affection.

Ally: 10
Lady Haruna, Royal Tutor

Stuff:
Ami has 1 point of Good Stuff.

Background:
Ami was born after Rei was sent back to Rebma by Oberon, but concieved beforehand.  She was born in Rebma and raised there as a lady of the Rebman court, although she tended to be more a scholar than a courtier.  She inherited her father's sense of curiosity and penetrating mind, although she applied it to scholarship, not politics.  She mastered all that the Rebmans could teach her of magic and conjuration, then surprised everyone by walking the Pattern in Rebma and vanishing into Shadow to study magic there.  She returned decades later, grown vastly in power, now able to conjure very powerful objects with remarkable speed.

Ami is on good terms with her brother and sister, but isn't very close to them or any of the others of her generation, due to having been raised away from them.  However, she has corresponded extensively with Lady Haruna, for they greatly respect each other's scholarship, and thus Lady Haruna is her firmest ally within the court of Amber.  Ami acquired her spikard during her adventures in Shadow and is quite adept in its use.

Name:  Tenchi
Psyche: 4th--20
Warfare: 1st--35
Strength: 4th--20
Endurance: 4th--15

Auctions Won:
Marshal of Amber--30, Greyswandir (Pattern Blade)--10

Powers:
Pattern: 50

Allies:
Golden Circle Support: 10
Yumi, the Royal Mistress (who seems to have chosen him as her next favorite...iya)

Stuff:
No Stuff.  Tenchi's good and bad luck tend to cancel out.

Background:

Tenchi is the result of a tryst in Shadow between his mother, a woman named Achika, and his father, Oberon (who had somehow impersonated his shadow 'father', a man named Nobuyuki).  He grew up in a shadow much like Shadow Earth, raised by his unsuspecting shadow father; his mother died when he was very young.  It was at that time that he acquired his sword, Greyswandir, in a series of adventures that eventually led him to the throne of a powerful, benevolent galactic empire.  Said empire then perished when a giant Logrus wielding monster attacked the entire shadow and destroyed it in the process of making its way towards Amber.  Tenchi managed to follow the creature through Shadow and eventually attacked and defeated it in the Gulf of Amber, in full view of the two fleets of Amber, which had sailed out under Oberon's command to fight it.

Oberon recognized the boy as one of his children, taking him to walk the Pattern and teaching him the ways of Shadow.  He then convinced him to become a general in the army, from which Tenchi has risen to command the army as Marshal of Amber, since Juri's recent retirement.

It is believed that Yumi expects Tenchi to succeed to the throne and hopes to play the same role for him as she did for his father.
